How to unlock the Going for Gold achievement in Doritos Crash Course - Definitive Guide

Going for Gold (40G)
Earn a gold medal on each level

The once fully obtainable, then completely glitched achievement is now obtainable again.
You can also attain it through the "easy" versions of levels. The rest of the guide remains the same for the regular difficulty levels.

Since I first posted this guide, there has been many changes, from a little realigning to a whole set of video solutions, so be sure to check it all out. Also, the issue with PredatoryOrphan was solved, read bottom if interested. Negative voters please specify what the problem is, you can PM me or comment on this solution.

With the help and support of many people, this is now becoming a solution, which I will separate in three parts: TIPS, VIDEOS, and GOLD MEDAL TIMES.

TIPS:
-Try to get gold medals on each level one by one, so you get used to the obstacles in the level, making it easier to remember where to jump or slide, then move onto the next level.
-At the beginning of a level, you can boost your character by pressing LT or RT (boost button) and Left Stick to the right direction at the same time right before the sign says "Go," saving you a few milliseconds which might just take you to gold.
-BOOST as MUCH as you can! It is extremely important that you use it everytime you can. Remember that if you boost too long you fall, so everytime you jump let go of the trigger for your character to "rest" in the air and press it again right before you land to keep boosting. Also, the boost rests when you're sliding, regardless of you pressing it or not.
-You can restart from the last checkpoint easily by pressing Y if you're about to die, but remember the clock keeps ticking!
-If you're taking too long just restart the level with the "back" button.
-The "Areas" between checkpoints are only triggered when you enter it, so it's always gonna have the same pattern when you hit a checkpoint.
-When using trampolines aim at the center and press A when you hit it to achieve highest jumps.
-Use the sliding technique (left stick down on downward ramps) to get through the levels faster and through certain parts in which it is required to survive. It's also useful to use this to jump higher.
-Try to take the top routes, they're more often than not easier than the bottom ones.
-In the later levels, take your time on the first run, learn everything in each checkpoint and don't worry about time, then just keep trying it for the gold and you'll see your time lowering with each try.
-Monkey540 says: "I have a little trick to add to your list bud, for the hammer sections, the little hammers can be jumped over, and the large hammers can all be slid under. The large one trick helps alot, but mostly in USA 5 at the end, you can slide under 3, wait, then run for the end up the fan. (This is not shown in the video) This is also useful in USA level 4 with large hammers right at the end on an up and down slope, going up be cautious, then slide down the other half. (This one is shown in the video)"
-Last but not least, be PATIENT! I know you will have the urge to shout at the TV so many times, but do not lose your patience or you will see yourself falling or missing jumps much more often! Also, some of the later levels require you to wait just a few seconds before doing the jumps or runs, because the obstacles are arranged that way... so please people, be patient.

VIDEOS:
For those having trouble doing the levels by yourselves, https://www.trueachievements.com/Vspeed13.htm (YouTube IGN: Xboxitude) has made videos for the Gold Medals, and with his permission I am posting the link here, it is a playlist of videos very nicely put together by him in an easy to use format and good quality.
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F27520517998B846
As of today (December 10, 2010) the videos are FINISHED!
You can also check out the videos one by one at the bottom.

GOLD MEDAL TIMES:

USA
These levels are a piece of cake, you'll have almost no trouble with these, and they serve really well as practice.
Level 1 - Gold 0:45 - Safety First
Level 2 - Gold 1:05 - Learning the Ropes
Level 3 - Gold 1:15 - Jungle Gym Hijinx
Level 4 - Gold 1:25 - On the Rebound
Level 5 - Gold 1:20 - Nothing But Air

Europe
Now the game starts getting hard, the 5th level will be a pain, but just keep going with trial and error and remember, try not to lose your patience.
Level 1 - Gold 1:30 - Slip Slide Ride
Level 2 - Gold 1:20 - Conveyance
Level 3 - Gold 1:25 - Elevation
Level 4 - Gold 1:20 - Shaky Footing
Level 5 - Gold 1:55 - Swingin in the Rain

Japan
Now this one you will wish was a person so that you could smack them to death. It's all about memorizing where to jump, where to slide, and where to boost most. Remember to do trial runs first taking your time and getting to know the level, and do them one by one, try to finish one before you do the other or you might just confuse yourself. Don't shoot the TV on this one girls and boys, unless you really want to.
Level 1 - Gold 1:20 - Rebounding Again
Level 2 - Gold 1:15 - Domou Arigatou
Level 3 - Gold 1:45 - Peak Performance
Level 4 - Gold 1:45 - Muzukashii Wheel (try and do it at 1:40 for the other achievement)
Level 5 - Gold 1:35 - Get Carter (Thank you commenters for confirming)

Thanks for reading, good luck.
Thank you to all the people supporting this solution and to those voting positive.
P.S. If there's anything missing or if you would like me to add something please message or comment, and if you vote negative please comment on why.
Also, to those interested on the issue with PredatoryOrphan, please read the blog I wrote about it. Thanks.
Redodua's Blog
And to those who voted negative because of that issue, I would appreciate it if you reconsidered your vote, because even a manager took action on the guy you're defending.

Just a side note, I found it easier to work backwards after the first run through.
Starting at Japan 5 and going back made Japan 1 seem quite simple

I have to say I wish I did see the other guide because I have not clue what you're talking about and at this point it looks like you're complaining at nothing lol

Didn't see the other guide, but this one is very well written. I like to make my guides as simple to follow and as well written and detailed as I can so I know your point.

I did the same thing on an achievement for The Maw, but I never included videos....and no one ever complained to me when I took top spot.

Positive vote from me. All I have left is Japan. Did the rest myself with trial and error.

By Hurball on 14 Dec 2010 12:36
Well in the slide down when all the paintballs fall in order, if you can't make the jump from the slide to the next part (as shown in the video) then you can slide down and let a ball hit you on the ground, because I found it easier to recover from a ball hitting you on the floor than in the air, then you have a few seconds to jump to the next area before the next round of balls reaches you. Near the end try and be patient using the moving panel as cover. Hope this helps.

By Redodua on 14 Dec 2010 20:23
just before the end before the slide down, jump first left then right, duck then to the not moving one in the middle then jump up AFTER A BALL went past you then jump to the upper platform and WALK to the right of it so the two coming balls won't hit you OR jump over them, for the hard trampolines, just wait till they are all on an almost straight line, so wait for 2-3 seconds at the checkpoint, then left stick to the right and hold the 'a' button down so you WILL make it in one time across the tramps, GoodLuck almost drived me nuts

Cheers Redouda - I'd never even noticed that panel that covers you, I couldn't figure out the pattern of the paintballs at all, it made no sense, and that was just because of that panel! Really easy if you use it as cover. Hardest level for me was Japan 3, but otherwise not too bad, great videos in the solution.

Never seen a guide marked "New" with SO many votes.

For me Europe 5 was the hardest. I had finished Japan in reverse order and when I beat Japan 1 (which I thought was my final one) the achievement didn't pop. I was SO mad cause I thought it was glitched, went through and noticed I missed USA 3. That was a BREEZE, did it my first try and even though I messed up alot more than I should have I easily got gold, and even beat some of my friends.

this guide didn't say anything i didn't already know(other than the gold times) , but the hints and videos sure are helpful.
if you don't press Y as soon as you get hit and watch the dieing animation, you can't possibly win.
just 2 little things: you don't need to press LT and forward to do the boost at the beginning, that confused me, i would just say the "boost button" or "LT and RT" because you can boost with either of them. another thing is that i actually found the bottom routes easier than the top routes. You can know which one is better by looking at the difficulty of each one. There is an Europe level that has a sliding spot that doesn't seem like you could go through, but you can, and it saves you about 3-4 seconds. And i'm not sure which level but there's one in Japan that has a trampoline before a high spot, but if you manage to land on the edges and not press A on the trampoline, you jump low and can go through the faster passage. So yeah, other than those 2 things it's all perfect, thumbs up from me.

I just unlocked the achievement! :) I only had the USA levels with all gold medals when I read about these problems people were having unlocking it so I deleted the DLC and the title update as well as clearing the system cache. Then I just did the rest of the levels offline declining the title update and when I finished my last level and got gold the cheevo popped. Be warned however I lost 2 gold medals from USA after I deleted everything so you may have to re do some of your gold medals doing it this way.

Hey everyone, I’d like to chime in with what I did to obtain the glitched achievements for now, until they patch this.

I started reading about the glitch after having obtained gold on all USA levels. By all accounts, it seems that the Title Update (not the DLC), is causing this glitch. So after reading about this, I went into the system and deleted the Title Update. I did NOT delete the whole game, the save file, the system cache or the DLC (still don’t have it yet, actually).

Then I UNPLUGGED my Xbox from the Internet (I use a wired connection because for me it is stronger than wireless). I played offline entirely. You can stay plugged in, just DECLINE the title update and play offline.

I then played through all the levels and, first, got a 1:33 on Japan Level 4, which popped the Sore wa kantan desu achievement, without any problems. I finally golded my last Japan level (that 3rd one was giving me problems!) and the Going For Gold popped without a problem as well.

I cannot confirm that the Title Update is 100% the problem, but I can confirm that having deleted that update, and then playing offline – not having golded all levels yet – the achievements popped for me without any problems.

If you have already golded all levels, I cannot really help. But you could try to delete the title update and see if any medals disappeared. If yes, replay those and the achievement should pop. If no medals disappeared, you can try deleting the save file and/or the cache. But I don’t know if that would erase all your medals… but would you rather have the medals, or get the achievement…?

Again, I can only confirm this works if you have not yet golded all levels. Delete that nasty Title Update and play offline!!

Good luck!!

Just downloaded the game today without DLC, played through the whole game before reading this solution and was under the assumption that I was screwed for the all gold. I stayed online, didn't delete any updates, and just played through normally trying for golds on every level. Sure enough, when I earned my last gold on Japan 5, the achievement unlocked. I didn't earn each medal in the correct order and broke it up into two different sittings.

Not sure if I'm just one of the lucky ones, or if not having the DLC downloaded at all is the safe way to pull this one off. I'd assume if it was a title update issue, then even people without the DLC would have the problem as well, but it seems as if this isn't the case here. I might just be an exception, but I figured the info might help anyway.

Either way, I hope it gets patched soon for those who have had it glitch on them. It looks as if there's a patch in the works, so that looks good at least.

You can complete the main game, and then download and complete the DLC afterwards. Each one can be individually completed (core + DLC)

I believe I may have a concrete answer to what's going on with these glitched achievements. I don't believe it necessarily has to do with downloading the DLC or any updates. What breaks the old achievements is having the new achievements on your gamercard. Here is my experience, which I relayed in an email to Richard Leibowitz at Behavior on Jan. 28. I have yet to receive a response.

I had all but 2 achievements for the core game: Going for Gold and Sore wa kantan desu. I downloaded the DLC and won all 3 new achievements which were showing on my gamercard (now 13 of 15). I started reading about the glitch and realized I was probably fuct.

The DLC was downloaded on a newer xbox after I re-downloaded the core game. I had the core game on an older xbox that had not been connected to live for quite a while. My gamercard only showed the original 8 of 10 achievements on this xbox. I was able to complete Japan 4 under 1:40 on this xbox and the Sore wa kantan desu achievement popped. I then stupidly connected to live after which, my gamer card on the older xbox updated and was now showing 14 of 15 achievements for the game.

At that point I didn't realize what I had done. I assumed that the glitch was tied to the game and/or the DLC so I made a point not to start the game while connected. I then disconnected and when about getting gold on all the levels, but it was too late...that achievement did not pop.

So it seems that once the new achievements are showing on your gamer card then it's too late. If you have gotten any of the new achievements, but have another xbox with the game that hasn't been connected to live since getting those achievement, then you should be able to get any of the old achievements. Just don't connect to live until you get them all!!!

Here's to hoping that my mistake can help somebody get these achievements. I just hope they can fix this game, but I'm not holding my breath...

Delete the DLC and clear your cache, then try again. You might lose some gold medals but it's better than starting from scratch.

By Redodua on 21 Feb 2013 18:31
That doesn't work. If you already have the new achievements unlocked on your gamercard, the other ones won't unlock.
I wish there would be an easy solution like that but as of now there isn't.

UPDATE: I deleted my save file and downloaded the game again. It saved all my gold medals except for USA 1 and 2. Gold medaled them, it popped. So if you never downloaded the DLC, the Title Update is NOT the issue.

^ok moron the whole community has been playing Japan-Easy do some research before you talk.

But DLC has been taking off XLBA along with the game itself. It is unknown if they are gone forever or there is a patch coming. As for a patch I did not recieve the achievements and i have the dlc downloaded.

I emailed Behavior about whether or not Going for Gold is supposed to be able to be gotten from Japan-Easy levels and they replied "The upcoming patch will allow getting that achievement from Japan Easy levels." so if people who are having trouble with Japan wait a while a patch will come allowing them to complete this on the easy levels.

I received an email to day from Behaviour and they told me that the patch, that is supposed to fix the glitched achievements, was released saturday.
I checked it out and it seems like this is true.
I just unlocked the "Sore wa kantan desu" achievement (I had hit the target time a while ago when it was glitched, now I just passed the level with bronze and it popped).
Going For Gold should be fixed as well, I'll try it out.

I just finished this one off and wow, what a monster. I did whatever the standard difficulties are because I never saw any way to change it. I totally agree about Japan 3, I actually did Get Carter first to get it out of the way assuming it would be the hardest as the king daddy final test and japan 3 just blew it away.

It’s actually good though since if I had done Japan 3 first I might have concluded that Get Carter was surely impossible and given up, lol.

After a couple years of not playing this, I decided to come back and get all the achievements and I was honestly really happy with how well I got this one. I struggled quite a bit on Europe 5 and a bit on Easy-Japan 5 but I surprisingly got Easy-Japan 3 pretty quickly and got most of the others in my first few tries. I really got into my groove and surprised myself. Congrats to people who didn’t do Easy-Japan because I wouldn’t be able to do this without it!

Only drama I know of with doritos is the one that gets stuck in your teeth. What the fuck was going on here?

Also you should put the videos in spoilers and label them, at least group them by country. Takes up a lot of room and makes it less friendly for mobile.

UPDATE: THIS IS NOW PATCHED AS OF 8/19/2013! NO LONGER GLITCHED! Also, I will confirm that getting all gold on the "Easy Japan" levels is a sufficient substitute to getting all gold on the original Japan levels.

[ORIGINAL SOLUTION]:

WARNING: THE DLC AND/OR TITLE UPDATE GLITCHES THIS ACHIEVEMENT!

This solution is not a substitute for the great solution above by Redodua, but rather a warning and discussion on how to obtain this achievement after 1/3/13, when the title update & DLC came out.

With the addition of the DLC, it was announced that easier versions of the Japan levels would be introduced, specifically with making this achievement easier as one of its features. Unfortunately, I can confirm that getting gold on all of these does NOT unlock the achievement. I have gold on all of USA and Europe, and when I finished gold on easy Japan, nothing popped.

Additionally, xAlpha Q Upx69 has posted below that they earned gold on all of the original levels after installing the DLC, and nothing popped for them either, AND earned gold on all the DLC levels - still nothing popped. It would be wise to earn this achievement before buying the DLC, or uninstall the DLC before earning your last gold on the original levels to hopefully avert this issue. Posts below further detailing this would be appreciated. [Update: I PM'd JD iz Skiilzz, who won the achievement after the patch. He said he did download the game update, but did not download the DLC. You may be in luck if you simply haven't installed the DLC yet].

You may need to delete all your game data in this game and not download the DLC in order to earn this achievement if you've already downloaded the DLC, although people have reported on the x360a forums that they have tried this with no luck. You can find a good discussion on this achievement at http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41... . It may be that the title update messed this up, in which case you can try deleting everything, re-download the game without the DLC, declining the title update, and earning gold on everything offline. This achievement doesn't have to be online, so I see no reason why that shouldn't work. If anyone has tried this, please post the results below.

If you would like to contact the developer to try and get them to fix this, you can reach them at:

email: pr@bhvr.com
Twitter: https://twitter.com/behaviour

If enough of us complain, they are more likely to do something about it. A copy of the e-mail I sent them is as follows (please don't just copy/paste it, as they will probably think it's from the same person - come up with something original, thanks):

Hello,

I am writing to inform you that on your recent game update and DLC release for the Xbox 360 game Doritos Crash Course, either the update or the DLC (or both) have inadvertently made some of the original game achievements no longer work (i.e., after you complete the requirements, they are no longer awarded).

This is particularly troubling because your announcement for the DLC states:

Winner of the Unlock Xbox competition and with over 3.5 million worldwide downloads, Doritos Crash Course returns with new level pack featuring 10 new courses filled with unique challenges and puzzles. Bounce above the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas and sprint through the historic sights of London to prove once more, who is the fastest in the world’s leaderboards. As well as new achievements for even more gamerscore, we also include new versions of the Japan levels so you get even more chance to unlock all the achievements. We’d like to thank you, the community, for helping make Doritos Crash Course into an XBLA phenomenon.

(emphasis added) [I bolded a portion above, but can't do bold is solutions].

You state one of the features of the DLC is to make the achievements easier (presumably "Going for Gold" and "Sore we kantan desu") and when we buy the DLC, not only do we not get what was promised, but now those of us who go back and meet the ORIGINAL requirements aren't even awarded the achievements.

This is not an isolated incident. Nobody has reported winning either of these achievements after your title update and DLC was released. You can find discussions on this issue at:

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41...

and

Solution for Going for Gold In Doritos Crash Course

Which show that many people are facing these same issues. While something like an achievement not unlocking when it should may seem like a minor issue, there are achievement community websites such as the ones linked above that consider this a big deal. Some companies release patches to fix bugs like these, while others ignore them. Members of these achievement communities take note of the companies that are proactive on issues like these vs. the companies that are not, and some even boycott the ones that do not take action.

Any action to rectify this, or any information on a work-around to allow the achievements to unlock, would be much appreciated. Before suggesting something like "delete the game and reinstall it", please actually read the threads linked above, as you will see that the community has exhausted almost every option to try and get these achievements to work since 1/3/13.

I personally have been affected by this as I have all gold on USA, Europe, and Easy Japan, and no achievement has unlocked. You can verify this by looking up my gamertag on your leaderboards. My gamertag is VegaDark541.

Thank you for your time and I hope the achievement communities will be able to add your company to the "good" list of companies that fix achievement issues.

That's really annoying and was one of my fears as well. Who knows if that will even solve it - we may have to uninstall the DLC if that's the case. Can you try uninstalling the DLC and re-gaining a gold medal to see if that works to pop it?

The only possibilities left are:
A) It's glitched (Wait for a patch/update)
B) You need gold on all the DLC levels as well now

By CIutch Corey on 03 Jan 2013 23:51
I wonder if someone uninstalls the DLC, then gets gold for the first time on a level they still need, if it will still pop (as opposed to getting gold again on a level they already have gold on). I have 2 regular Japan levels still to beat, unfortunately getting gold on those last two is easier said than done.

By Pyro1099 on 05 Jan 2013 21:32
Hey guys.

I might have found a way to unlock these glitched achievements.
I say "might have" because I belive I accomplished to get the correct preconditions to unlock them, which is beginning a new game without DLC/Title update.

A little foreword here:
What I believe to be the real problem is that the savegame for this game, after installing Title Update/DLC, screws the achievement unlocking mechanism (due to added medals and easy Japan levels).
Therefore was my idea to uninstall the Title Update and DLC and try to get a fresh game going with no stats (like you have never played before).
Unfortunately, your stats seem to be saved in in your Xbox profile.
Even after uninstalling and starting the game offline, my stats were still present in the game.
But there is a method to bypass this.

The bad news about this: You will have to get through the whole game again (since you pretty much begin a new game) and do it in one sitting. Why is explained further below.

Disclaimer:
#1 This method will be quite time consuming.
I did not test it myself due to lack of time and patience, but it should unlock the achievements (no promise though).

#2 This workaround uses the "Remove-USB-Drive-While-Data-Is-Loaded"-Method.
Removing the USB drive while it's being accessed might not be the best treatment for it and could possibly damage it.
Therefore you are acting on your own risk.

-----

So here it is:

0. You will need an Xbox configured USB drive for this.

1. Delete the Title Update and DLC and delete or backup you game progression save file.
Note: If you re-download the game, the Title Update will be downloaded as well automatically.
You won't see it in active downloads, but you will find it on your storage device.

1b. Clear the System Cache (though I believe it isn't necessary, just to be sure).

2. The only thing related to Doritos Crash Course on your storage device should be the arcade game, nothing more.

3. Move your Xbox profile to the USB drive.

4. Start the game and do not accept the game update.

5. On the "splash screen" (where you have to press A to continue), remove the USB drive right before pressing "A".

If you did it correctly, a message will appear that the game couldn't load your profile's settings, game progress and achievements.

6. You will notice that you only unlocked the first two USA levels, so you basically started a new game.
Unlocking the achievements should be possible at this point.
Before you go ahead and play, reinsert the USB drive.

-----

Now to the bad "Play thorugh the game in one sitting" part.
If you complete one of the first two levels and head back to the main menu afterwards, the game will tell you that it's saving, but as a matter of fact, it is not.
If you finish another level, there won't be any "Saving" message (my best guess is that the game tried to save your game stats the first time but fails and doesn't try it again).
Also, if you go to the dashboard and start the game regularly, your stats will be as they were before and your progress therefore glitched again.

So the only way would be to get all the gold medals in one sitting.

But as I already said, I haven't tried it myself yet and can't promise that it works.
Unless someone else (or myself at a later time) tries it and confirms it, it's just a theory.

Or we just wait and see whether it gets patched ;-)

A friend of mine obtained the "Sore wa kantan desu" achievement while having the title update installed but not the DLC.

Also, their Twitter linked to this: http://playxbla.com/having-problems-with-a-few-doritos-crash...

In here they claim that in order to unlock the achievements, you would need to play the Japan levels in their original difficulty setting.
But that doesn't work as I tried it that way in the first place.

I attempted to use my cloud save on another console that did not have the title update or the DLC. My golds were still there but re-golding a few levels did not result in getting the achievement.

I was not able to beat any previous scores.

I have gotten all the DLC achievements on the other console.

I had the problem before play the new areas and getting any new achievements. I tried playing the easy japan levels first, then went for 1:40 before getting any new achievements and it was glitched. Simply playing any new dlc levels, achievements or not, will glitch the game.

Any patch/fix announced yet? This is really getting annoying :l

Not to my knowledge. I assume that if you install the game on a fresh xbox, never install the DLC or the title update, and play offline you can still pop this, however.

If only i had another Xbox :l damn .. Well i just noticed they announced a Doritos Crash Course 2. Maybe they should be focusing on patches, like this 'Going for Gold' one before making another crap game ..

I got this achievement online today. I did install the title update prior to starting the game the first time. The new achievements did show up on my gamercard. However, I did not download the DLC pack or play any of the easy Japan levels prior to getting the achievement.

i too was unable to get the all gold an sore wa kantan desu achievements after installing the DLC so i e-mailed behaviour and just got the following response:

We have good news for you!

A patch is being developed. For now, it’s going though an intense QA process… so stay tuned for the released date!

Have a good day,

Maïlys

Tbh I don't think they will release a patch as number 2 is out now and they have took this game off the dashboard so its not likely.

5/10/13: I can confirm that if you have no achievements in the DLC, simply deleting the title update (from the hard drive), no clearing of caches necessary, and NOT having the DLC downloaded will allow you to get the achievement for all golds (offline unfortunately).

@reaganstein: after 2 years i decided to go back and i didnt bought the dlc and declined the update, so went offline automaticly.. ive unlocked the japan 4 level under 1:40 achieve.. but when i look in my games list is still says 10 / 12 but when i open the page to see all achieves it says 11 / 12 unlocked (only missing the 'all gold' one) same goes for xbox.com, is also says not unlocked when i clearly have.. (and yes i reconnected to live auto. when i went back to the dashboard to 'sync' my achieves on xbox.com)

anyone knows what this crap is ?? -_- :P

DLC has been taking off XLBA along with the game itself. It is unknown if they are gone forever or there is a patch coming. As for a patch I did not recieve the achievements and i have the dlc downloaded.

Seeing as the game and DLC have now both been removed from the marketplace I guess all hope of them bothering to fix this just flew out the window :-/

I was worried too about the fact, that the game including DLC were removed from the marketplace, but today I received this email from Behaviour:

---

Hi ***

We already created a patch for these issues, which is in QA at the moment.

Given the current workload on the QA and certification teams you can expect this to be released in the following weeks!

We will keep you updated on our social networks!

Maïlys

---

Note that this response was for my email from May 12th 2013 in which I also pointed at the removal of the game.

So it doesn't seem that bad right now and I hope the patch will come soon.

@SirLugash The game reappeared on the Marketplace today. However, there doesn't seem to be any fix for the "Going for the Gold" achievement. Disheartening, to say the least, if true. So much for QA.

Success, I got this and the under 1:40 to unlock today after I played and had won all the DLC achievements.

Here's my story, I first played the game before Christmas and got all bar the under 1:40 and all gold achievements putting me at 10/12.

I didn't touch it until I saw the TA post about the main game being de-listed, I fired it up then and got the title updated, looked for the full DLC but by that time the DLC had also been de-listed.

All the same I downloaded the demo and played the free 5mins, then put it down again.

Yesterday 24th May 2013, I saw a friend unlock the DLC achievements, so downloaded the full DLC pack.

I played the DLC this morning and got all those achievements.

I then tried level 4 on Japan-Easy and beat 1:40 but no achievement. I then tried the normal Japan level 4, got under 1:40 and got my achievement... with a time stamp as I was online.

That's when I looked at this thread regarding the all gold and the potential glitches.

Wondering how to go about it and as luckily I have multiple Xboxes and profiles, I signed out, downloaded the full game to another xbox under an alternative profile, then disconnected from live.

As I hadn't played on my other xbox today, that still had me down as 10/12 achievements and also no save game.

Still disconnected I fired up the game and went through getting all gold's offline and the achievement popped, but I was still a bit dubious.

I thought about saving the game to a usb and looked to move it and the title update was showing in with the game and my save game, it didn't copy it in the end.

I reconnected to live and sure enough there was a bit of syncing trouble, it was showing as popped but nothing on xbox.com.

Basically I thought I was screwed so thought sod it I'll try firing the game up on the 2nd console with my main profile.

Sure enough all my Japan gold times were showing , but the first 2 USA had gone again, I played the 2nd level, then for some reason decided to look at my achievements and it looked like the syncing issue had gone.

I checked on xbox.com and sure enough I now have the achievement unlocked, all be it without a time stamp, but hey a completion is a completion in my eyes.

It may well be that the re-release of the DLC this time includes a patch, as I was able to get the under 1:40 achievement after getting all DLC achievements and being online, further up this thread that wasn't possible.

Who knows, but hopefully this may help someone out there

I was able to get this AFTER playing the DLC and even unlocking the Party Pooper achievement earlier. A couple of days ago, I downloaded DCC and the DLC for the first time and messed around with it for a few minutes before going to work, unlocking a few achievements including the Party Pooper. Later, while at work, I came across this page and thought "Uh-Oh?"...

Luckily I had a second XBOX that I had not logged onto in a while. Using a second Gold account on this XBOX, I downloaded the game and then took that XBOX offline. I then logged into the second XBOX with my primary account(offline to keep myself hidden) and beat all the courses in one sitting.

Then I logged onto XBOX live on the second XBOX and on my profile, this achievement along with the others I had popped during this session were "merged" into the ones I had gotten the other day.

I know this probably wont help most people because the don't have access to a second XBOX with an old version of their gamertag on it, but if you have that scenario, I can confirm it works.

Hopefully, they will just release the patch soon and everybody who has earned this will finally get it.

Thought I would add that I originally downloaded the dlc but then came across this page.

Luckily I had not played any of the dlc courses so deleted the dlc from my hard drive and carried on as normal going for the gold times and I had no trouble unlocking it.

So it seems to be that it is when you play the dlc it may glitch as I still had the latest TU downloaded.

greetings to all here is my vidéo guide for Doritos crash course for Going for Gold

Earn a gold medal on Each level (40G)

Thank you
11

For this achievement, you have to earn a Gold Medal in each and every level in the game (USA, Europe, and Japan). You don't need to watch a video for the majority of the USA levels, but in the later levels (Europe and Japan) come much harder as you progress. To learn how to complete levels quicker, go on this website called Speedrun.com where players submit video evidence for completing levels and games in the fastest time possible. The link for the Speedrun.com page for this game is at https://www.speedrun.com/doritoscc.

For the Japan levels, I recommend doing this with the Japan-Easy levels after you bought the City Lights DLC. Speaking of the DLC, you don't need to do the Las Vegas and London levels while going for this achievement.

Before going for gold on every single level, i would suggest playing through each level several times to learn how each level is laid out. If you become stuck on a level just practice it until you know what is coming and how to pass each obstacle with ease. A list of gold medal times is below.

USA
Level 1 - Safety First - 00:45.00
Level 2 - Learning the Ropes - 01:05.00
Level 3 - Jungle Gym Hijinx - 01:15.00
Level 4 - On the Rebound - 01:25.00
Level 5 - Nothing but Air - 01:20.00

Europe
Level 1 - Slip Slide Ride - 01:30.00
Level 2 - Conveyance - 01:25.00
Level 3 - Elevation - 01:25.00
Level 4 - Shaky Footing - 01:20.00
Level 5 - Swinging in the Rain - 01:55.00

Japan
Level 1 - Rebounding Again - 01:20.00
Level 2 - Domou Arigatou - 01:15.00
Level 3 - Peak Performance - 01:45.00
Level 4 - Muzukashii Wheel - 01:45.00
Level 5 - Get Carter - 01:35.00
