I obtained this achievement in the middle of the Destroy And Race And Groove song, in Chapter 1 of story mode.
To play this song, once you've killed the boss of chapter 1 (Sharmungus), you have to go back to the garage. After a scene, once again the garage to unlock the bonus level on the map.
I played the song on easy difficulty and didn't miss any notes, I don't know if it affects the spawn of Marlene's doggo.

This popped during my Fury Road Daily Loop today (I also got the one for the 3 Glam guys along the way). Probably lucked out that the right song came up. I haven't gone back in the story as you suggested.

I played Level 1-5 in Arcade mode which then unlocked Level 1B1. The achievement unlocked at the end of playing Level 1B1.
