How to unlock the Hard Hitter achievement in Dragon Age Inquisition - Definitive Guide

Can be done as early as lv.5 ( EDIT: Level 4 as a Human with the bonus skill point. ) starting as a Rogue Archer, The ability you want to use is called 'Full Draw' and it's effect is that if you hit an enemy at full health it does up to 1600% damage with your bow. using the 'Bow of the Dragon' (which has 62DPS) I was able to hit upwards of 1400.

This achievement also appears to be buggy as it didn't unlock until maybe the 7th time I hit 1000+, at which time I hit a 1002, so If it doesn't unlock the first time, just keep trying until it does, you'll get it eventually.

EDIT: The achievement is NOT specific to your character, and can be unlocked with a party member, so if you're not playing a rogue you can still unlock this achievement with any of the 3 rogue companions in the game.

1007 damage got me to 96%. Also, I used Varric's Full Draw. My character is a warrior.

You can also get this very easily with fire mine as a mage which also does 1600% weapon damage

It doesn't have to be a rogue. You can use a warrior or a mage. Since i was playing as Cassandra and the achievement popped for me. i don't know what skill i used to get it, but it doesn't matter.

I never said you have to be a rogue, the solution gives a quick method to get it, By the end of the game pretty much all classes can hit 1000+ without even using abilities.

If you're playing a Warrior, an easy way to do it is with the Sword and Shield ability that is used to break through guard (assuming the guard damage counts, I'm not sure if it does.) Easily does several thousand to enemies that have guard.

The first time I used full Draw I hit 1200 or so and didn't unlock it. I don't like buggy achievements, but thankfully this one unlocked the second time I got over 1k.

Like Elite said, breaking guard is by far the easiest way to get this, I play mage but when I switched to my tank for a minute it popped instantly

I figured it out, hitting critters / animals like fenecs, nugs, rams didn't register once I hit 1k+ on a humanoid enemy the achievement unlocked

With Varric get "Death From Above" and "Full Draw" under Archer abilities. Control him in battle, get to a high spot and launch it at an enemy below you that has full health.

Or just play as a rogue in mid-late game and deal damage above 20k with crit.

I followed a similar strategy with my archer with full draw. For some reason the trophy didn't pop until I'd landed 4-5 hits of 1K+. Got it in the end though.

Play as a Knight enchanter mage or play as Vivienne. You will need the fire skills, chaotic focus and fire mine with all your regular barrier skills for knight enchanter such as fade shield. Simply have a full barrier throw down fire mine at some enemies and boom big crit, and easy trophy!

The easiest way to unlock this outside of normal character progression is to invest in a powerful offensive skill, get the upgrade for it, and do your best to provide optimal combat circumstance to capitalize on it.

For example, as an Archer: Stealth + Full Draw + First Blood on a debilitated enemy
Or, as a Dual Wield Rogue: Stealth + Ambush + Twin Fangs on a debilitated enemy

There are a large amount of combinations for you to try out. As your level increases, so will your damage output, so don't worry about this too much. Simply deal 1,000 damage or more (criticals count) in a single attack to unlock the achievement.

This will come over time. As you level up, get new gear and skills you'll easily get up to a few thousand damage
