How to unlock the Giant Slayer achievement in Dragon Age: Inquisition - Definitive Guide

Story related.

As soon as you start this DLC you will be following a guide from the lift, and within the first 2-3 minutes you will be attacked by an Ogre Alpha. Once defeated the achievement will pop.

Worth mentioning that (for me at least) this didn't unlock until after establishing the first camp. This comes after defeating the Ogre Alpha and fighting off the waves of darkspawn around the seal.

This one didn't unlock for me at all, the second DA:I achievement to do so. Then fact finder another story achievement didn't, it drove me mad.

It also did not unlock the first time for me. if it does not unlock right away after the fight, there should be two auto saves. one is directly before, one after the fight. I suggest saving your game, reload the autosave before the fight, make another save to be sure and then try again until it unlocks. the safest method of course would be saving before the fight anyways.

Thanks for that, I just went and redid this and the Hakkon dragon achievements from old saves and got them finally. That leaves the camps and astarium achievements glitched for me, but still a vast improvement.

I found an ogre alpha to be the first monster I came across in the DLC, after you ride the first elevator down you will soon come across this beast. The ogre alpha is level 26 and takes a beating but was really no problem. If you taken down dragons you should have no trouble with this.
