How to unlock the A New Calling achievement in Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Definitive Guide
The 'A New Calling’ achievement in The Veilguard relates to Davrin, your Grey Warden recruit, and completing his companion missions. Simply check in with Davrin at the Lighthouse as often as you can and you’ll start to trigger a number of events, from deep talks and chat with other teammates, to outings and quests that you can embark upon.
You can do these whenever, but you will need to finish the thread by the end of chapter 11 (the point of no return) to turn them into a Hero of the Veilguard for the finale. Fear not, though, even if you leave it late you can get conversations and the like to spawn by just fast-travelling somewhere else and then returning to the Lighthouse.
Below are all the quests, conversations, and their rough trigger points.
- How to Train a Griffon (Outing) - After completing The Dragon Slayer.
- After Shades of the Blight and Something Wrong - chat about Assan
- Available before The Siege of Weisshaupt - chat with Manfred and Assan
- Speak to Davrin when After The Storm commences to talk about Weisshaupt.
- The Cauldron (Quest) - Speak to Davrin when After The Storm commences (and some time has passed) to start the companion quest, “The Cauldron,” which is also a main quest.
- When the quest A Fighting Chance starts, speak to Davrin about his trophy cabinet.
- After Fire and Ice, speak to Davrin who is with Emmrich to discuss the cloth you retrieved from The Cauldron.
- After a short time, return to Davrin to start his companion quest, Cries From the Past.
- A Friend in Need (Outing) - Head back to the Lighthouse and speak to Davrin to start this quest.
- Speak to Davrin who is in Lucanis’ quarters at the Lighthouse about the pair’s past conquests.
- Speak to Davrin at the Lighthouse after completing the chapter 10 main quest, Unwanted Guests to start The Palate of a Griffon.
- Speak to Davrin to start Hope on the Wing.
- The Profane and the Lost (Quest) - Speak to Davrin after The Words of the Wolf in chapter 11 to start this quest.
- Once you’ve completed The Profane and the Lost, check back in with Davrin at the Lighthouse.
- Finally, Davrin will want to check in with Eldrin in the companion conversation quest, Home Roost.
- fit for a warden
- how to train a griffon
- a friend in need
- the profane and the lost
you will unlock Davrins legendary armor and you are nearly there. I needed two more conversations in the lighthouse after that and a short final mission named "home roost" triggered. The achievement unlocks upon finishing the quest. For reference, Davrin was level 9 for me and I finished part 10 of the main story, always doing everything else availabe before progressing the main story.
