How to unlock the Set for Life achievement in DRAGON BALL FIGHTERZ - Definitive Guide

[2022 Edit]: This method is obsolete. Using the Tournament of Power (Push it Past the Limit) method is far quicker, especially if you're on a next-gen console or PC with an SSD which makes the loading screens almost instant. You can make the method even faster by using the DBS Broly combo of Forward Heavy into Super Dash then Light combo (cn_LSr cn_B cn_RT cn_X cn_X cn_X). This clears the fights so quickly that you'll be getting the 30,000 zeni in under three minutes, plus extra zeni from leveling up your Dojo rank. I get 600,000 zeni per hour easily this way.

------------------------

This method will get you ~300,000 zeni per hour. Loading times and how quick you clear the battles will affect this, though not by a huge amount. I played this game on an X1X, which I believe has quicker loading times, so if you're on a normal X1 you may earn slightly less.

This method DOES take a bit of setting up before you can start farming, but set up is one time only. Once that's done, it's extremely easy.

Prerequisites:
- Clear the Story's Hard Mode (unfortunately)
- Collect three Victory Zeni Up Level 6 skills (you'll naturally earn these clearing Hard Mode)
- A few characters at least over level 70

Method:
Load up Chapter 8, Map 14.

External image

Clear every battle on the map with the exception of the circled spaces. Save after every match as you're clearing the map, because if Kid Buu spawns, you absolutely do not want him to take over any of the spaces you'll be using to farm zeni. The amount of money you get per fight is based on how many enemies you beat, which is why you don't want Buu capturing any of the farming spots. The boss space is immune to Kid Buu, so don't worry about that. You won't be clearing it, anyway.

Once the map is clear besides the two spaces you'll be farming, save again. You'll want to be in the spot I am in this screenshot:

External image

Choose one high level character and leave the other two slots empty. Load up the first battle, and proceed to beat up the opponents. DO NOT DEFEAT THEM. Get their health as close to zero as possible, but don't KO them. When one enemy is close to death, Dragon Rush them out of there and snap in the next opponent to start working on lowering their health. Repeat for the third opponent when the second is on low health.

Be careful, even if a low health opponent is snapped out. If they're called in as an assist and get hit by a strong enough attack, they'll be taken out and you'll have to reload your save and try again. Only use auto-combos, Super Dash and Dragon Rush to weaken them to reduce the chance of accidentally knocking anyone out. Super Dash and Dragon Rush cannot KO an opponent, which makes them very useful in getting HP down to as low as possible. Once you have all three of the characters down to low enough HP where a single hit will knock them out, allow yourself to lose the match. You'll be kicked back to the map and lose one turn (you should have plenty of turns left, so don't worry.) Save the game. Pick another character to replace your knocked out one.

[Edit]: A tip from Count023:
To make it easier on the set up, run max regeneration health buffs and run out the clock for a loss instead of letting your fighters get KOed.
Load up the other match. Repeat what you did in the first one by getting the three opponents to as low HP as possible. Lose again. Once back on the map, select a new character to replace your KO'd one again. Make sure you have your three Level 6 Zeni skills equipped. Now proceed to burn the remaining turns you have by continuously moving between empty spaces until you're in the spot in this screenshot with at least two turns left:

External image

The purpose of burning these turns is to boost the level of the enemies in the two fights. The enemy space will pulse each time it levels up. This increases the amount of zeni you get at the end of the match. This step isn't super important, but every little increase of zeni helps reduce the grind. Save one more time. The method is now fully set up. Now simply clear both of the fights on the stage (leave the boss fight alone). Since the three enemies in each should be at very low health, you can one shot them all. Each fight will give you a mininum of 6000 zeni if the enemies aren't leveled up, for a total of at least 12000 each clear. Each clear should take about 2 minutes or so, factoring in load times. Once both fights are clear, do not save. Exit to Story Mode Menu, you'll keep the zeni you earned. Continue. The map will reload with the two fights ready to clear again. Rinse and repeat until you hit 20 million zeni!

Here's a video of the method fully set up and working:

How does those unions rewards work? I got once 1000 Zeni

By Jamal2807 on 03 May 2018 11:10
the longer you're in a union, the more zeni you get as a weekly payment.

I started at 5k, then 10k, then 20k recently, i don't know if it goes past 20k though. But every bit helps.

Also do the daily quests, a few thousand for easy quests like warping or doing a basic tutorial adds up.

I found myself fighting the boss match too so I re set up the whole thing with that one weak as well. Not much harder and just as easy once it's done....wait for the cutscene after the level to start then return to title screen. Great method to begin with btw! thanks. almost at 5 mill already

How'd you get the health so close to 0? I tried and even with 3 characters, i end up with about 30 seconds a match in fighting to KO the clones.

One question: do any of you know if finishing the story mode over and over grants you the 80,000 and 100,000 zeni?
I mean, it´s considerably slower than the solution mentioned above, but at least you get variety and can aim to 100% the scenes and things like that...

What level are the opponents you're fighting? Because the zeni you get per match is determined by the level of the opponents and how many you defeat per match. The higher the better, which is why you're supposed to burn almost all of your turns during the set up to boost them. The 300K estimate is based on my experience, since that's about what I was getting per hour, and the number should be replicable by anyone who matches my set up almost exactly.

Im not even half way towards 20 yet and the store claims i have bought everything so we don't even need most of the zeni this achievement requires anyway.

Anyone still persevering with this, there's currently an event on that will give you 5,000,000 just for signing in between the 21st and 28th May 2020. Still a long way off this but it's a good chunk and gets you the Deep Pockets achievement for nothing.

Hey you guys! So they are giving 5 million zen away atm until May 28 2020. I may have accidentally found a way to get this achievement in 5 minutes!

I’m from western Canada. And my internet is slow as fuck cuz I’m from a remote location. Anyways I saw this 5 million zen award and decided I’d get the achievement. I signed in, went to west coast Canada servers. I got to lobby but cuz my internet is slow I got booted out ASAP. But got 5 million zen achievement.

The thing is I wanted to see the money so I kept trying to enter the lobby 3 more times. I got booted quick all 3 times, but I think servers kept sending me 5 million zen. Meaning I have 20 million zen atm all in the span of 5 minutes. I got all 3 money achievements!

Guys it fucking works! Only if u never signed in, and already received the 5 million. My brother did a test run for me while he’s in a city with an actual connection that gets him playing the matches. He made two dummy accounts. First account he Signed in. Walked around lobby. Got 5 mill achievement. Unplugged Ethernet, signed in and didn’t get anything again other than the 5 million Zeni already received....so I asked him to use 2nd account. But this time go to offline lobby, and when loading screen appears unplug Ethernet. He did. Told him to do it 2 times. He does. On 3rd login, told him to go into any online lobby. He does. I asked him how much Zeni‘s he has. He said over 15 million. He walks around for a bit. Unplugs, goes back into lobby but didn’t get anything more than 15 million this time around.

Guessing if there’s more awards to be handed out u can get the achievement that way without playing a match

i set up exactly as you did, two turns left, one hit kill enemies, they're level 90 or the like. I get 6200 per match at teh end of it. But after an hour i aveage about 120,000k even at my fastest. Seems the loading time is taking up a lot of the effort, i'm not on an X1X.

I saw apparently there is a slightly faster method here. http://www.powerpyx.com/dragon-ball-fighterz-fastest-zeni-fa... Involves just fighting one match instead of two, maybe someone would want to try that (not sure i want to have to re-set my current save to the currnet slower method).

Also you should mention in your guide that Super Dash and Dragon Rush _do not kill_ so they can be used to get HP to basically one-hit KO on enemies and not actually kill them. Useful in getting those last bits of health out.

Im not even half way towards 20 yet and the store claims i have bought everything so we don't even need most of the zeni this achievement requires anyway.

Yeah this achievement is completely stupid, I'm just close to 5m lol. Fortunately I love playing ranked online matches so usually I go online after some of the boring story mode zenis grind.

Anyone still persevering with this, there's currently an event on that will give you 5,000,000 just for signing in between the 21st and 28th May 2020. Still a long way off this but it's a good chunk and gets you the Deep Pockets achievement for nothing.

So to be clear, after you disconnect the internet on the loading screen, do you go back to the main menu, reconnect the internet and disconnect again on the next loading screen?

No joke unlocking the tournament of power is insane cant even win the first fight in the 20k tourney😂 The AI spam special attacks no idea yet how to break that pattern.

My God that elite tournament was insane, took me a few tries and I'm a beginner at this game. Literally spam LT and the X attack after, and make sure you power up with LT and RB immediately as you get health back during the fight. Definitely use Meteor attacks.

Currently there is an event going on where you can get up to 2.65 million Zeni by playing 30 ranked matches until the end of the month of May! Go for it if you wanna get closer to the end more efficiently.

You can now farm 30k zeni everytime you play one of the tournament of power tournaments, I can't remember the name right now but both team start off with about a fifth of their health, should be able to go by quicker than the above solution if you don't lose too much, hope this helps

Edit: You go to the new boot camp lobby implemented in season 3 to the left of where you spawn in the main lobby, then once you're into the fighterz dojo speak to the reception, click on "join a tournament of power" you have to complete the first four tournaments (each tournament except the last consists of three matches) then you'll unlock three more elite tournaments, the one we want is called "push it past the limit" the matches should only take less than a minute each and you'll get 30k after completion which can be repeated indefinitely

Been playing FighterZ since launch and I still don’t have this awful achievement. This method seems marginally quicker than the story mode method. Only 4 million Zeni left to grind out. Thanks for adding this solution.

I agree with Domermann X. It is good to have an alternative method but it will be too difficult for most players. I even can’t get to the final stage. I will stick to first method which on Xbox One (not X) gives around 130k Zeni per hour.

With this method I calculate about 275,000 zeni per hour if you don’t lose. To actually win the harder tournaments what I do is spam super dash until they block. Then I get back and they usually spam some special moves. Then I pay attention to when they finish attacking to quickly super dash in their face and not give them much room to recover.

I can't beat the last tournament to unlock the one you said... I'm able to complete story on difficult, to fight AI at level 100 but i'm unable to defeat 9 characters at full power with only three characters if they don't refill their live... This method, isn't quicker as it's near impossible for most of the people to unlock the mission...God... this game is so bad... So beautiful and so bad... I'm playing since its release and i don't see any progress on my skills, i was able to learn a lot while playing SOul Calibur games, but i learn nothing in this game, 3 characters is too much to learn from, z assists never work for me, it's always a miss. Z change works when it wants, directions are always broken and breaks my combo...

Apparently if Namco gives out rewards in Zenis just for signing in, You can work around it and keep getting zenis unlimited. Make sure you DO NOT get the award and walk around in the lobby or else you’ll have to wait until they give out an award again in future dates. As of right now the award given to u is 5 million for logging in before May 28, 2020

Anyways. Get into any lobby, and during the loading screen, disconnect ur wifi, or Ethernet. The game will boot u out ASAP when u reach the avatar lobby. BUT you’ll be given the 5 million zenis. When back in menu. Repeat until u get desired zenis and/or the Set for Life achievement. Also works by logging into offline lobby’s.

If this worked for you, you can thank my god awful internet for accidentally finding this glitch.

So to be clear you disconnect you internet whilst you're loading in to the lobby, and whilst the internet is still disconnected you join a lobby 3 more times?

The best Farming method for this can take some time to set up. You need to beat the final Arc on Hard. Once that is completed, you can load up Chapter 8 map 14. What you want to do is clear the way to Team Yamcha and Team Piccolo. Every turn there is a chance for an enemy to increase in level.

You want to increase the level of both teams to their limit. I believe Team Yamcha can go up to LVL 91 and Piccolo to LVL 94. If you dont get the level up on the correct team, return to story mode title screen and then hit Continue on Hard mode to restart from the last time you saved. So every time one of the teams levels up, you will want to save the game. Enemies do level up after fights as well as there will be 2-3 teams you will need to defeat that are in your way. You have 22 turns to level them up 7-9 LVLs.

At any point when you get next to team Piccolo or Yamcha, switch your team to some expendable guys you dont like and initiate battle. The goal here is to weaken all three fighters and then lose. That way when you got those teams leveled up you can end the fight quickly.

Once you got the teams to level 91 or higher, save your game and then win the 2 fights using 3 LVL 6 Zeni Bonus skills and you will rack up 6k+ zeni in just a couple mins. Once you defeat the two teams return to story title screen and reload your last saved game for Hard Mode.

I take no credit for this solution. A youtube video below is where I found this all out

This is arguably the most time consuming trophy in the game, as you will need to earn at least 20,000,000 Zeni as you play through each of the game's modes in order to unlock it. Thankfully, this trophy is accumulative, meaning that regardless of spending Zeni, it will not affect the total amount you have collected overall when going for each of the three Zeni trophies, so if you choose to spend them on unlocking content for your profile card and lobby avatar, as well as character colors, the overall amount of Zeni you have earned will not decrease.

Some ways you can earn Zeni include combo challenges, which will net you up to 5,000 Zeni for completing all ten of them for each character, for a total of 120,000 Zeni if you complete all ten combo challenges for the game's twenty four character launch roster; finishing arcade routes with an S Rank will net the player 7,000 Zeni for each course you complete with said rank; and completing online matches in each of the game's online modes will help you earn Zeni, regardless if you win or lose. You can check how much Zeni you have accumulated by checking your offline mode log inside your player profile (which can be accessed by pressing twice while looking at your player info card as you pause the game).

Currently, the fastest way to earn Zeni is by replaying Chapter 7, Map 13 in the Android 21 Arc on Hard mode with the "Victory Zeni Up Lv. 6" skill equipped three times to boost its effect, which means that you will need to play through the story mode at least six times in order to obtain this; afterwards, play the match that rewards the player with 300 Zeni, which will total up to 5,300 Zeni for completing it. Repeat this process over and over and this will net you at least 106,000 Zeni every hour. A video demonstrating this method can be found here (Credit to PowerPyx for both; the information regarding this method, and the video below).

I found two more or less optimal options for farming zenya.
1) video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=R5AU5XADp_g
2) video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vFiShL2ta14&t=456s
Which option is more convenient for you is up to you.
And also play offline, loading is a little faster.
UPD: sometimes it’s worth going online once a day, as you get free zens from 10k to 100k

I discovered a new method for farming zeny. Located in the dojo (the little man on the left edge when entering the game). To use this method, you need to go through all the steps. In this case, you get 300-400 thousand zeny per hour
Here is the video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=49Tkny16n8g

Take Gogeta (SSGSS) and do a team grab, and then combo, because enemies are dodging Brawley's DBS teammate

As of March 29, 2023, the glitch works on PS5. True, it has its own characteristics. For the entire month, I did not see a “bonus” for entering, but if you go to the counter, upcoming or already ongoing events will be listed there, such as play 7 matches in the ranking or take part in a tournament. So, there are prizes for such participation, and it indicates in what period they will be issued. My total prize was 200k and after 2 hours of continuous use of the glitch, I received trophies for a million and 5 million, and also accumulated 19 million. The glitch disappeared and I somehow found myself immediately in the online lobby without downloads and the initial video. Keep in mind that if the game gives a network error several times, although you are connected, then it is better to close the game immediately, so as not to have to suffer later with farming like I did.
And the most important thing that no one said is that you can spend money and not save it. The statistics display the total amount for the entire time of the game.

The best farming method is a glitch for infinite zens during the login bonus
At certain intervals, when you log in online, you will be rewarded with free zeni. One-time fee from several tens to hundreds of thousands of zeni (on foreign forums they write that they gave 1 for entry)
So, first you need to find out the exact date of distribution of the freebie (in the center there is a character with a megaphone. Approach him ONLINE and, among a bunch of information from the developers, find the date of the login bonus and how much they will give you for logging in).
The point is this:
1) At the time of distribution of freebies, go into the game in OFFLINE mode, look at how much currency there is now.
2) Go through the menu to the offline or online selection screen
3) Next comes the fun part - go online, wait until the blue planet icon appears for the FIRST time in the upper left corner of the screen (after the phrase Communicating to server) and turn off the Internet
4) The game will throw an error and you will return to the initial screen. WITHOUT TURNING ON THE INTERNET, go online and after the error message, select the option to go to the offline lobby.
5) If everything is done correctly, you will be sent to the offline lobby and your account will increase by the amount of login bonus
6) Return through the menu to the offline or online selection screen, TURN ON THE INTERNET and repeat in a circle until victory
Ideally, it seems to me that you can try to do this when you first start the game, the main thing is not to go online completely, and if you have already gone online, wait or look for information about the next distribution of free zeny. I received 50K per minute. Somewhere in a day I knocked out the missing 16.7 million for the trophy by constantly disconnecting the set-top box from the WiFi network. There is a risk that the console or game will complain because of such tricks, but the failures did not affect the outcome. In fact, you will have to pull the lan cable for a day or turn off the router/mobile hotspot (turning off WiFi on the set-top box through the settings does not take much longer, but this is also possible) and you will receive a trophy. As of March 2022, the glitch works, so go for it)
