How to unlock the You're Like the Son I Never Had... achievement in DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 - Definitive Guide
If you are not stuck at 100% like some of us, there are a few "Hidden mentors"
Broly:
After you pass the God Level advancement test, he should be in the sky right above the roof of the PQ/Online Battle battle.
Gohan & Videl:
This one seems to be glitchy, I beat the Buu Saga, and then did their PQ quest that pops up as a blue exclamation point (will be Great Saiayaman 1 & 2) on the island that will get you to Kame House. Once completed, I turned off my game, turned it back on and they were available as mentors near where Krillin and Goku are, in that schoolyard area.
Hercule:
Once you see him near the clothes shop, walk up to him and perform the "applause" emote. I believe that is the emote, in his dialogue he should tell you what he wants you to do.
Dodoria:
He should be floating in the Namek area near Frieze, Ginyu, and Zarbon, fly close to him, beat him in a battle, and after the battle he should be available as an instructor!

Do you have to max out the instructor for a 5th and final or just do the initiation and the 3 lessons after? Just to clarify

There are 5 more teachers to be added into the game in a future update, they will be free, gonna imagine it will either be patched when they come outor you will have to beat them to.
The teachers are:
Gohan
Bardock
Whis
Gohan (Future)
Cooler (Final Form)
These are in the time patroller guide you get if you have the collectors edition, hope this helped a tiny bit!

There are 25 instructors for the base game (an update adds 5 or 6 more (I have 6 more added currently)) and you must pass the super class test to access all the lessons, they will be named in how they appear in the instructor page under play data they are as follows: Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Piccolo, Raditz, Gohan (kid), Nappa, Vegeta, Zarbon, Dodoria (floating in namek area, beat him in a duel), Captain Ginyu, Frieza (1st form), Android 18, Cell (Perfect), Lord Slug, Majin Buu, Hercule (appears near clothing shop, use applause emote), Gohan & Videl, Gotenks, Turles, Broly (pass the God level test and is above the PQ building), God of Destruction Beerus, Pan, Jaco, Goku.
Additional instructors appear in an update but are not required for the achievement, they are: Whis, Cooler, 16, Gohan (future), Bardock.
(If this somehow gets stuck at 100%, I noticed on several achievements that going into the game hub will make it pop)

There are 25 mentors in Xenoverse 2 that will teach you various moves (there are more mentors if you count DLC, but you only need the regular 25 for this achievement). Each mentor gives you 4 lessons (intro test + 3 regular lessons) that can usually be completed right away. Unlike in XV1, you don't have to raise each mentor's friendship level to keep training with them. Certain mentors will require you to be in specific classes in order to take their lessons. You can advance through classes by taking the tests in front of the school (see the "It Won't Be Enough to Kill Me!" achievement for a bit more detail on advancing through classes). To check your progress on all of the lessons, go to play data in the menu to see a list of all your mentors.
All mentors can be found by looking at the map. Some might not appear until you progress through the story. Three mentors are not on them map at first and require you to do something to make them appear.

As with Xenoverse 1, the ability to have your favorite DBZ characters as your instructors returns. However the system in place has greatly improved from the first game.
Instructors are no longer RNG based. Instead they're based on a couple factors. 1. Where you are in the story. As you complete the sagas, more and more characters will appear around Conton. 2. In order to take later characters lessons you have to make sure you complete the Advancement Test, as you have to be a certain level for certain lessons.
Instructors consist of 4 missions, the first being a tryout match. Each missions will change your skill set and replace it with the moves your instructor wants you to use. In a lot of cases, you won't be able to finish these missions until your final blow is done with the move in question. As you complete these missions, you'll unlock the move to use for any character.
As with the first game, the Friendship Meter returns...however it is NOT required to play the missions. Instead, if you want to utilize you can unlock new dialog and special images that attach to your online profile called "Marks". In order to get the Friendship Meter up, just play Offline PQs with your Instructor, and wear their clothing to get the meter to go up. It's also a lot quicker than the first game.
It should also be noted that you DO NOT have to choose the "Be My Instructor" option to play their missions. Making them your instructor is simply for the Friendship Meter and for them to join you in battle when your health gets low. All you need to do is choose "Train Me".
