How to unlock the Rainbows Form In Your Eyes achievement in DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE - Definitive Guide
P.S. If your achievement says 99% just keep playing. It will pop eventually.
If you go to your profile from the dashboard, across to achievements and find Xenoverse, you'll see some game stats such as the time played, etc above your achievement list. Among those stats, my Rainbows Form In Your Eyes says 100%. So, at least I know that DLC and Z ranking does not affect this achievement as I've done neither.
I also know others who have got this without DLC or Z ranking.
Edit: I deleted my save and started entirely from new, (you cannot simply delete your character). I started a new character, and progressed through the story. I didn't play it for more than half an hour before I did the first training session with Krillin, where upon completing it, the achievement popped. I waited months and the only way was to start fresh and complete just one training mission. Hope this helps.
This method will take around 20-30 minutes mission time to fully level up 1 master, 30-40 if you include load screens and running to the offline PQ guy.
I used parellel quest 43 "Old Rivals and Dragon Balls" in offline PQ.
So first pick your own character, have your current masters skills on the bar although you don't need to use these skills at all in combat. Then have both supports set as your current master, start the game.
You'll drop into the mission now what you need to do is find all 3 dragon balls and deliver them to the time pod, that's it. Avoid the enemy's just focus on the dragon balls. On a good run you can be done anywhere between 30 and 45 seconds, on a bad run a minute or so.
Rinse and repeat this over and over and you'll have the master levelled up in no time.
In total it took me 27 runs of PQ43 to fully level up Android 18 as my master, I used this method for Hercule and Ginyu which took about the same amount of runs.
I also used the same method farming PQ15 "Explosion of Namek" to work on dragon balls and masters at the same time, I found it a little slower time wise and required more runs but overall if you want 100% that may work out better in the long run.
Bugged Achievement Guide
This guide is for those who have maxed out all masters over the course of the game but are stuck at 99% on this achievement. You may have found many comments and different strategies to get it to pop but have had no success. After a lot of confusion, grinding and waiting for things to unlock which never did. I have decided to help those who want to know how to go about starting a new save without losing their character that they put so many hours into.A few strategies I tried before deleting my save:
- Keep playing after completing the last master
- Wait for it to pop / Wait on character creation screen
- Replay several master missions
- Z-rank all master missions
- Complete a spar at least once with each master
- Hard reboot/ clear persistent data from settings
- Open save on another Xbox
Steps I took to fix the issue with "Rainbows Form In Your Eyes".
- Deleted local save data
- Put Xbox in offline mode from network settings
- Booted up game and played until I made a new character
- Reconnected Xbox to online mode
- Finished Saiyan saga and in this case took Vegeta as my master after returning to the hub world
- Finished first training mission for Vegeta (I noticed a few pixels of progression on the achievement tracking)
- Keep playing PQ's as Vegeta and take him as an ally (I completed 2 PQ's before it unlocked).
- Talk to Vegeta after you return each time until achievement pops
If this is your last achievement and "If You Show Me Your Courage" does not pop.
- Return to the main menu hard reboot Xbox by holding the power button on the the Xbox itself
- Re-enter game and cancel all sync prompts
- Load into lobby and it will pop as you spawn into the hub world (I chose solo lobby)
Good Luck
For this trophy, you're required to maximize all friendship levels with all masters. This simply means that you need to fill the bar of all 12 Mentors/Masters (doesn't really matter what you call them) in the game. You can only have one Mentor at a time and these Mentors will teach you various Super and Ultimate Attacks for you to use during battle. In order to unlock these Mentors/Masters you'll have to progress and complete certain Sagas, but depending on the Mentor, you're required to be at a certain required level. For example, Goku will only appear in Tokitoki City once you've completed the Demon Demigra Saga and you're at least level 70. When you've achieved all the proper requirements for a Mentor/Master, find and speak to them in Tokitoki City so you can complete their training to learn their moves. You learn a Mentor's moves by filling the bar to the right of the Mentor's name found in the Play Data. Once it reaches certain levels, you'll need to complete some challenges by fighting the mentor, and winning the fight will grant you reward items and skills. Please note that this trophy will unlock once you've completely filled out the last friendship bar of your last mentor.
You can keep track of all the Mentors/Masters by doing the following:
- Press the button (PS4) | button (PS3)
- Select "Play Data"
- Press the button
The Play Data will display a Master Info screen like this:
As you progress further with the Master Info you're results will look similar to this:
Below are the ways to maximize friendship levels:
- Completing many Parallel Quests with high ranks (Z rank)
- Choosing your Mentor/Master as a COM during Parallel Quests (you can select the same Mentor twice as a COM)
- After completing a Parallel Quest, always talk to your Mentor/Master because talking to them will slightly increase the friendship level bar.
- Using Special Attacks that the Mentor/Master taught you will also slightly increase the meter, but only if you've won the fight or PQ.
- Fighting in Online Battles, Endless Battle, or Player Matches will increase the bar slightly as well.
When you completed training with a Mentor/Master, then it's time to find a new Mentor. Sadly, their spawns are completely random. Thankfully, there are ways to farm them by resetting their spawns. The best way to reset Mentor spawns is by doing the following:
- Search Tokitoki City for the Mentor/Master that you need
- If it's not them, then speak with the Mentor that is up to become their student which will cancel the relationship with your current master.
- Speak with them again and select any training challenges.
- Press the button (PS4) | button (PS3) and select "Back to Tokitoki City"
- You'll spawn in front of your new current Mentor/Master, but this causes another Mentor to spawn.
- Search Tokitoki City for the Mentor/Master that you need again
You can repeat the above as many times as needed. Do keep in mind that some Mentors/Masters have a low spawn rating. The God of Destruction Beerus is a good example of this. Getting him to appear might take you about 1-3 hours’ worth of farming. Keep at it though and you can get them to spawn as long as you've met all their requirements.
Lastly, as a friendly reminder all the requirements will be listed below:
- Goku ~ Complete the Demon Demigra Saga and be at least level 70
- Piccolo ~ Complete the first half of the Saiyan saga and be at least Level 5
- Krillin ~ Complete the first half of the Saiyan Saga and be at least level 5
- Vegeta ~ Complete the Saiyan Saga and be at least level 8
- Gohan & Videl ~ Complete the Buu Saga and be at least level 40
- Captain Ginyu ~ Complete the first half of the Frieza Saga and be at least Level 15
- Frieza ~ Complete the Frieza Saga, complete Captain Ginyu’s training and be at least level 20
- Android 18 ~ Complete the Android Saga and be at least level 34
- Cell ~ Complete half of the Android Saga and be at least level 30
- Hercule ~ Complete half of the Android Saga and be at least level 30
- Gotenks ~ Complete the Buu Saga and be at least level 40
- God of Destruction Beerus ~ Complete Goku’s training and be at least level 70
As you progress through the game you will unlock characters that offer to take you under their wing and educate you in the ways of combat, granting you unique skills, ultimates, and Z-souls. Most of these masters require you to do at least 4 unique quests, with some of them adding a 5th quest that asks you to gather an item of some sort (capsule or Z-soul). These quests are unlocked as you gain reputation with that particular master, which is primarily gained from doing parallel and story quests, but you will also receive some reputation when you talk to your master and receive free items from them. Your current master can be found in the time machine area of TokiToki City – or directly in front of where you exit from parallel quests (under the Hercule Statue). Masters appear randomly throughout the city as you unlock them, and you can switch masters at any time without disrupting your reputation with your current master, making it a good idea to switch to any masters you rarely see and want to have whenever you get the chance. You will need to wait for your previous master to reappear in Tokitoki City before you can switch back to them.
Your current reputation, master, and overall masters status can be found in the main menus under player data by pressing in the player data menu. This screen is broken down into all of the masters you have met, masters you have yet to meet (silhouettes), masters you are gaining reputation with (blue bar on right of their portrait), your current master (name in yellow), and quests you have completed with each master (progressively filling the four slots to the left of each portrait). Once the blue reputation bar completely fills up – after roughly 50 completed parallel quests – and you have finished all master quests with a particular master, “Complete” will appear over their head and their reputation bar will turn yellow and their achievement will unlock. Once all of this happens, you are free to switch to your next master and you never need to return to your current master.
Note: You can gain reputation as any character you want, although you can only do master quests as your create a character.
The Master info found in the Play Data section of the menu. Here you can see which masters have met and trained with, those that have been have mastered, masters that have been met but haven't trained with, and those who haven't been met yet, so their pictures are just a silhouette right now.

Three tips for boosting friendship faster:
1:When working for a mentor speak to them after every mission to make sure you don't miss anything.
2:Use their moves to boost friendship faster.
3:Use their master Z Soul to boost friendship.
Check out the individual trophy guides for each of these for a detailed breakdown.
You need to maximize the friendship level with all ten of the non-DLC Masters. They are Goku, Piccolo, Krillin, Vegeta, Gohan & Videl, Captain Ginyu, Frieza (1st Form), Android 18, Cell (Perfect), Hercule, Gotenks, and God of Destruction Beerus. (None of the DLC Masters count for this achievement, just like their Super/Ultimate moves don't count for the Skill collection achievements).
The fastest way to build up friendship is to just do the fastest Parallel Quest that you can. Each time you complete a PQ, their gauge will go up a tiny amount (the first and last 3-5 seem to be covered by the gauge's edge, so they will seem to have no gain even though they really do).
However, I recommend focusing on collecting all the Super/Ultimate Skills from each of the non-DLC PQ's first, since if you care about achievements then you'll be wanting those anyway. Two goals at the same time, saves at least a bit of time in the long run.
There is a set of advice that most people share: Have your Master on your team (as well as your custom character), have their moves in your current skillset, and equip the masters' Z-Soul.
However, from my own testing, I don't really think that any of those actually make the gauge go up any faster. But if you want to do so, go ahead, no reason not to! (And if you track it and find there is a real difference, please post it! It's always seemed like an assumption from others, since I never found anything that suggested it was actually tested by anyone.)
Either way, you only need one instance of your Master in your team (many people say you should have two, but I didn't notice any increase or loss by having either one or two).
In the case of Gohan & Videl, it seems Gohan may be the one that matters for this, though that is not really verified.
When you complete your training with one Master, you then want to minimize the amount of time spent hunting for the next one. A couple of things:
1) Only one Master at a time will appear inside the whole city for you to start (or resume) training. There are 3-4 locations in each of the three regions of the city that they might appear, and it is a random person in a random location each time the city is reloaded. This means it can take a LOT of reloads before the one you want appears.
2) Whenever you enter the Character Select screen for either Parallel Quests or Battles (either online or offline), the town reloads so you can most quickly reroll which Master is in the city by just entering the character select screen as fast as possible and then backing out immediately to the city to search for the Master that has appeared.
First you need to wait for the master to appear, then defeat him (and become his student). Afterwards, you need to complete missions and complete his tasks three more times before the friendship level is at 100%. And so by every master. some appear only after completing training from the previous one. It is better to approach the master every time after a mission to check if he has a task. They also often share useful things.
