As UnkleAve posted in his solution for obtaining the Dragon balls do Parallel Quest #2 and defeat Tien, Yamcha and Krillin. Sometimes a Time Patroller will show up in front of Kami's tower. If so, walk up to them and press B to engage in a fight. Beat them and you should either see two prompts for "materials gained" x2 or "materials gained" and "key item gained". If you got a key item, that's the dragon ball but materials gained from Time Patrol fights tend to be hercule badges. These hercule badges can be sold back to the shop ranging from 1000 (for common) to 30000 zeni (legendary). Since you'll usually get at least 1-2 per Time Patroller fight and this PQ takes between 1-2 minutes to beat, this is one of the fastest ways to obtain 500k zeni. Also you'll be getting dragon balls from time to time as well.

This will happen naturally over the course of playing. The money in this game is called Zeni and can be used to buy the following things:
- Support Items
- Mix Materials/Recipes
- Accessories
- Clothing
- Skills
For the trophy to unlock, you'll need to have 500,000+ Zeni on you at once. You can save your money until you reached that amount if you want to get the trophy sooner, but it's not worth saving your money for to be honest with you. The Fastest way to make money is by selling all of your Hercule Badges at any of the shops. You get Hercule Badges from Parallel Quests by defeating random Patrols. These Patrols are the CPUs that have a chance of dropping a Dragon Ball (as a "Key Item" drop) or "Martial Items". The selling prices for them are the following:
- Hercule Badge (Common) ~ 1,000
- Hercule Badge (Uncommon) ~ 3,000
- Hercule Badge (Rare) ~ 8,000
- Hercule Badge (Super Rare) ~ 15,000
- Hercule Badge (Legendary) ~ 30,000
Another way to make money is by farming Parallel Quest No.53 Dangerous Duo! Warriors Never Rest. In this mission all you need to do is gather the 3 Dragon Balls which can be done within 30 seconds or 1 minute depending how fast you are with gathering the 3 Dragon Balls in this mission. It's a popular PQ and most players use this PQ to level up weaker characters, farm Mentors/Masters friendships, or just make quick money. The Zeni earned from this PQ is about 63,000-103,000+ each run.

You need 500,000 zeni all at once. Sound tough? Well, it is and it isn’t. If you want, you can grind this out at the very start of your game, and just save. Save. Save! Or, you can go the much easier route and wait until the very end of the game when you have the last set of parallel quests. Each of the parallel quests unlocked by doing the Legendary Saiyan Saga grant you a massive amount of Zeni – sometimes around 100,000 in a round depending on your performance. At this point, you will be running out of items to buy as well.
So in short, work hard and save up early on, or make the money pretty much in your sleep in the end game.
