The novice tournament is already unlocked at the start of the game so you don't have to go out of your way to unlock it. It doesn't matter what character you use, but Omega Shenron is preferred if you've unlocked him since he starts with a full ki gauge. At the start of the match run to the left or right side of the ring depending on what side you start on, wait for your enemy to get close to you then keep tapping A and forward at the same time (direction towards your enemy) once they go to hit you, you should teleport behind them and kick them out. Do this in three rounds and you've won the tournament and the achievement.

I used this method on all three levels of the tournaments. Hope this helps let me know if I can improve my guide =)

For these tournaments you can do the same technique that was done in Budokai 1. I would recommend using kid goku because of his power pole but any character should do. You are going to need the vital heart disease capsule and the Vaccine capsule.
(You get the vaccine capsule from Vageta's DU. When you have to fight #17, and #18 go to Goku's house and you'll get a vaccine.)

During the world tournament when the battle starts try and get away from the enemy and press and hold "A" down down to activate the vaccine. (If you get hit while activating it you won't be able to use it.) Then stay alive and either kill the enemy or ring them out.
