How to unlock the Rare Breeder achievement in DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS 2 - Definitive Guide
To do this achievement you will need Moreberries, lots of Meat and a pair of Cats/Dogs
First, let's get some cats/dogs, it really doesn't matter which ones you get as they both want the same room and the same amount of food to breed, you can feed cats fish but I will show you how to make an AFK Meat Farm so that is very much unneeded. Here are the locations of Cats and Dogs:
PETS
Blossom Bay: Dogs
Sunny Sands: Cats
To befriend a pet simply sneak behind them and 'stroke' them. They will join your party and you can leave the Isle and get the pets to your Isle.
Once the 2 cats/dogs are on the island you can make a Resident's Register to relocate residents (in this case animals) to the Biome your main base is located at. Once there you have to make an Animal House. The requirements for one is:
Any Door
2 Pet Bowls (Don't know if you need 2 but I made 2 to make sure)
2 Pet Beddings
1 Haystack
2 Nameplates
Make sure to assign your cats/dogs to the Animal House by writing their names on the Nameplates.
MEAT
Now that we have pets and have a room for them, now we need Meat so that their happiness increases.
Now normally the ≈300 Meat would take a good few hours of grinding and killing Bunicorns but this step can be automated.
Go to Khrumbul-Dun and go just East of your town, you will see a huge wall. You will want to make a trap here that consists of only spikes, simply flatten a large area, put 2 tall walls around it except the front where you don't put any walls, then put spikes on every block in the flat area. Left of the entrance to this Canyon is a great place to AFK, just put some block on your head and watch those bunnies get spiked to death, AFK for an hour and you will have more oil, medicinal herb, and meat than you will use! Here is a video reference.
Moreberries
The final thing is getting Moreberries, this requires you to unlock rare crops. Rare crops only appear when you harvest 10 different kinds of crops in The Isle of Awakening, this is an optional Tablet Target. Here is where you can find the seeds of each crop:
Blossom Bay
1.) Tomato (requires you to plant in planting pole)
2.) Cabbage
3.) Strawberries
4.) Sugarcane (requires you to plant in water)
Soggy Skerry
5.) Wheat
6.) Aubergette (requires you to plant in planting pole)
7.) Pumpkin
Iridescent Island
8.) Coffee
Rimey Reef
9.) Potato
10.) Leek
Laguna Perfuma
11.) Heatroot (requires you to plant in pristine [clean] water)
12.) Butterbean
13.) Melon
Sunny Sands
14.) Chili
15.) Sweetcorn
Once you plant 10 of these the Hairy Hermit will let you know that rare crops will now start to appear, Moreberry is the rare variant of Strawberries so you will want to plant 2 scarecrows worth of Strawberries to make this faster, though one will be good enough because you do A LOT of waiting for this achievement.
THE ACHIEVEMENT
Now that you have the pets, meat, and the Moreberries the AFK session can begin! Simply wait for the first generation of pets to reach 100% happiness, once they are fully happy you will give each of them a Moreberry and sleep, they will now have a baby, you will give the pets another Moreberry so that they have another baby, these babies are Gen 2 Pets. You will have to wait for them to mature but it isn't a problem as they always reach 100% Maturity before 100% Happiness, so no extra waiting from that! Once Gen 2 are fully happy you will give them Moreberries for two days and having 2 3rd Generation Pets, you will want to do the exact same thing [waiting, or using that time for good and unlocking and crafting items for progress to the Building Boffin achievement, etc...]. Once your first 4th Generation Pet is born you will get the achievement, if you followed this guide and got the achievement, congratulations! Because this is the worst achievement in the game.
If you wait til 7-8pm (orange section of clock) you only need to give them 1 more berry each.
After unlocking 30 tablets you can buy meat from the builderpedia
This is the trophy which takes the longest in the game. Firstly, you'll need to acquire 2 dogs from Blossom Bay or 2 cats from Sunny Sands. Bring them back to the Isle of Awakening, and build 3 animal houses. Your animal houses should be a small fenced area with a gate, and 4 solid blocks making up part of the fencing (2x2). You want to put 2 pet beddings, 1 haystack, 1 pet bowl, and 2 nameplates in each of the fenced areas to create 3 animal houses.
Now, you'll assign both the nameplates in the first animal house to the two dogs that you got. You'll now need to put lots of meat into the pet bowl (100+). You'll also want a resident's register nearby. Now simply afk for a few hours, checking the resident's register occasionally to see the happiness rating of the dogs. Once it hits 100%, you can breed them.
Breeding the dogs requires you to have Moreberries. These can be acquired from strawberry plants after unlocking rare fruit. Rare crops are unlocked by growing a variety of crops on the Isle of Awakening, so make sure that you gather all the seeds you can from the Explorer's Shores, and plant them on your island. After 10-12 different types of crops grow, you'll be notified that rare crops will appear. Use fertiliser to quickly grow your strawberries, and some will become rare Moreberries (glowing pink). Harvest these. You'll need at least 12 Moreberries for breeding.
Once you have your dogs at 100% happiness, and have at least 4 Moreberries, you can start to breed them. You'll need to feed both dogs a Moreberry during the evening (between 7 and 8 - the orange section of the clock, when the light begins to change). Once you've fed them both a Moreberry, go to sleep. When you wake up you should have a notification that a new pet was born. Name this pet and assign them to the second animal house. You'll want to take the meat out of the bowl in the first animal house too and move it to the second animal house (so you're only feeding the latest dogs). Now wait until evening again, feed the original 2 dogs another Moreberry each, and go to sleep again. This will get you a second puppy. Again, name it and assign it to the second animal house.
Your two new dogs now need time to mature - but thankfully they'll still gain happiness during this period. It takes about 10 ingame days for them to grow, and they should be at or near 100% happiness once they've grown. You can check their progress with the residents register.
Now simply repeat the breeding with the second generation dogs to get 2 third generation puppies, and assign them to the third house an put meat in their bowl. Repeat again until you have a 4th generation puppy, and the trophy should unlock.
For the entire process, you'll likely need about 300 meat. Meat can be gathered from the bunny monsters outside of Khrumbul-Dun. I also tried feeding them Scaly Steaks and Beef, but they didn't have an appreciable difference on happiness gained. Some people recommend covering the ground outside of Khrumbul-Dun with spikes to instantly kill the bunnies, and even building a train above that to travel around the area spawning them, but I didn't find that necessary. Simply running back and forth gathering meat a few times was enough.
