How to unlock the Master of the Maisters achievement in Dragon's Dogma 2 - Definitive Guide
There are 10 vocations and 12 Maisters teachings available.
Once you have received the teaching you will need to 'Use' the scroll to learn the ability. You can only learn each ability once and can't obtain second copies so if you didn't get all of them in your first playthrough you can just obtain the ones you missed on a second.
I have listed them out here in roughly the order you can complete them.
Fighter Maister - Lennart
You’ll meet Lennart early in Melve. He has grey hair and a fur cloak. At some point in Venworth a merchant at the northern gate will ask you to deliver a letter to Lennart. This quest will send you back to Melve. If you hadn't already completed Lennart's quest to kill Saurians, do this, and then return back later. If you had completed the quest, when you arrive you’ll fight a Lesser Dragon and begin a new quest chain. After the fight I talked to Lennart again and he gave me his teaching.
Thief Maister x 2 - Rogues Guild
You will head here as part of the Main Quest to determine the true identity of the Sovran. At the top of the village far to the east is a manor where you’ll speak to one person who’ll give you a Maisters teaching. Head outside, into a hole, complete the obstacle course, and at the end you’ll receive the second teaching.
Archer Maister - Taliesin
To get this teaching you need to complete a questline for Glyndwyr. Early in the game you’ll find this elf standing outside the weapon shop in Venworth. After starting the quest, give him a human made bow, then meet him at the marked location.
After this quest, wait a day, then he’ll go back to Venworth. Talk to him again to start the next quest to meet Taliesin. At this point you’ll be required to go save another elf from an ogre. Save the damsel and complete the quest.
Wait another day. Go back and talk to Taliesin again in Arborheart. He gave me the teaching at this point, but other people have had to complete his escort quest. If you do that quest, once again wait a day and talk to him again.
At this point, make sure you have at least done all the main quests in Vermund and are ready to go to Battahl.
Sorcerer Maister #1 - Myrddin
Head to the Checkpoint Rest Town in western Vermund (you can take an Ox from Vernworth). Make sure you are wearing courtly clothes which you’ve already gotten as part of another main quest and are the Sorcerer vocation. Follow the path to the top of the town and there is a locked house with Myrddin inside. Wait for him and he’ll come outside and greet you (he will tell you to go away if you’re wearing “peasant” clothes or you're the wrong vocation). He will ask you to get a specific 5 books, most of which there are only 1 copy in the game. We will be gathering 3.
Interestingly, Let There Be Light can be found on the top floor of Myrddin's house. Break in using the wall outside to access his balcony. Do this during the day so he’s downstairs. If he catches you he will attack you and fail the quest.
Travel back to Vernworth. Talk to Waldhar in his book vault (part of the main quest is to break him out of jail and put him there). He will give you Towering Earth.
If you are a rank 5 Thief, you can now pilfer your third book from him, which will be Howling Blizzard. Doing so doesn't cause any issues if you're caught. If you're not a thief, continue as per below.
Travel back to the Checkpoint Rest Town. This time we will head to the Ancient Battleground north of town. If you head out the eastern entrance you will find a man needing escort. If you complete his quest, he will take you to a room with Nation's Death Knell.
Now, wear your courtly clothes again and speak to Myrddin. Give him three books:
- Let There Be Light
- Towering Earth
- Nation's Death Knell (or Howling Blizzard if you pilfered it)
After he will reward you with a Sorcerer Maisters teaching.
Note: If you complete this and have a Sorcerer teaching already learned (see below) he will quiz you about it. Don't tell him you met Trysha unless you want extra steps added to this quest.
Sorcerer #2 and Mage Maister - Eini's House
Travel back to Melve, talk to the merchant just inside the gate and buy Fulminous Shield.
From there, follow the right path/north eastern road all the way to the top of the map to find the Waterfall Cave. This is a large cavern but on the second floor is a chest with both Howling Blizzard and Nation's Death Knell (the only second copies of these). Opening this will trigger a Lich to spawn but there's no need to fight it if you're not up to it.
Now head back to Melve and this time, leave out the gate and follow the left path/north western road to the top of the map. Here you’ll find Eini’s house. Trysha is complaining about her grandparents. Wait until they leave (usually midday. Either that or you can pick them up and take them outside) and talk to Trysha and she will give you another quest to collect 5 books. The same as her father (yes, Myrddin is her father. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree).
Giver her the three books you've already collected:
- Fulminous Shield
- Howling Blizzard
- Nation's Death Knell
You now need to wait 3 days away from the house. CAUTION: It’s a common problem for Eini, Trysha's grandma, to die randomly. The quest can’t continue if that is the case. You'll know if this has happened to you if she's never home. You’ll need to go to the morgue with 5k and Wakestone to continue further. Also while you're here, at night travel south and into a small western path and talk to Beren. He's our Warrior Maister. More on him later.
When you return (with everyone alive) Trysha will be starting the apocalypse. DONT ATTACK HER. Dodge her spells and when she gets tired she’ll kneel down. Tackle her at this point to contain her. If you’ve done this right she’ll give you Sorcerer Maisters teaching #1.
Finally to get the Mage teaching from Eino you will need all three household members to like you. Personally I just had to give a gift to Eino and then he gave me the Mage Maister teaching, but you may need to give a gift to both grandparents. Others haven’t had to give any gifts at all to receive the teaching.
Warrior Maister - Beren
If you didn't start Beren's quest chain earlier, now's the time. South of Eini's house, and in an eastern nook you will find the Moonglow Garden. Come here at night and talk to Beren.
First you need to find him a warrior. I found a random lad at Venworth who approached me and asked to join behind the pawn guild. Send him north. While you’re here, buy 3 of the cheapest swords from the shop.
Go back to Beren, hand him the swords, and continue the quest. After some fighting, wait a day and talk to him again. He’ll inform you he’s being involuntarily resigned. After another fight, wait another day, and talk to him again. He will travel to his house just south of the border at Checkpoint Rest Town. Travel back to the rest town, pass through the gate, and follow the road to spot Beren working on his moonglow flowers at a house. Talk to him to receive the Warrior Maisters teaching.
Continue the main quest at this point until you have been to the Seafloor Shrine. At this point all the hybrid class arisen should be displayed on your map with little scar marks.
Trickster Maister - Luz
Revisit the oracle Luz in Battahl. You will need to go around the back of her shrine and climb a ladder, then walk around to the front of the roof. The real Luz is standing up here and she’ll give you the Trickster Maister teaching.
Mystic Spearhand Maister - Sigurd
At this point Sigurd should be waiting in the southwest corner of the map. For this quest you will need to kill a Lesser Dragon so be prepared. This is harder than a standard Drake. Meet Sigurd and help him kill the dragon. Afterwards he will give you the Mystic Spearhand Maister teaching.
Sigurd may die during this quest (sometimes he falls off a ledge). If that's the case, make sure to revive him with a Wakestone. If this happens he may not give you the Maister's teaching after the Lesser Dragon has been killed. If that's the case, give him gifts at his home in Harve (only once a day, such as Flowers). He may ask you to do an escort quest as well. Once his affinity is high enough, he will gift you the Maister teaching.
Magick Archer Maister - Cliodhna
Following from where Sigurd was located, you can make you way to Volcano Island by following a cave network in the southern part of the map. Following this road you’ll run into a dwarf with a bad back. Give him some herbs and then meet him at his house (marked on your map with the arisen scar nearby).
He’ll go inside to get a gift for you but he won’t come out. Go in and after a quick argument with his wife you’ll be asked to escort him to the hot springs far to the east. Take him there (feel free to carry him if he’s going a bit slow) and when you arrive you’ll be given the Magick Archer vocation and the Maisters teaching in a 2-for-1 deal from Cliodhna.
Warfarer Maister - Lamond
Here at the hot spring is a drunk, egg-obsessed man named Lamond who wants Newt Liquor. This would be fine if it wasn’t one of the rarest items in the game, but there is an “easy” way to get the 3 he’ll need.
First be a beastren or get a beastren mask from the travelling merchant at Checkpoint Rest Town. Then go to Higgs shop in Bakbattahl (it’s marked on the map in the city). While wearing the mask, pick up a sack outside the shop and put it in the pen. This is a code and you’ll be pushed inside the shop where you can purchase liquor. Get 3.
Now go back to Lamond. Give him all 3 bottles and he’ll reward you with the Warfarer vocation and much like Cliodhna will also give you the Maisters teaching at the same time.
Congratulations, you are now the Maister 🙂
Once you have received the teaching you will need to 'Use' the scroll to learn the ability. You can only learn each ability once and can't obtain second copies so if you didn't get all of them in your first playthrough you can just obtain the ones you missed on a second.

Solution for If you sell any master skills
I had sold the thief skills early in my first playthtough not knowing they were important and was then unable to get then on ng+.
So I started the game on a second account (make sure your friends with your main account) and re gained the master skills I needed and then hired my main pawn from my main account dismissed them and sent the skills as gifts so my main account would receive it. Make sure u rest at an Inn after sending gifts as it will only sent the gift after next Inn rest.
Hope this help any of you if you have sold master skills like me 🙂

For those of you, who only play on a single account: From what I read in game (think it was a tutorial pop-up), important items you sell have a chance to eventually find their way back into the economy as part of Ibrahim's stock at his Scrap Store in Checkpoint Rest Town.

If that scrap shop works for your that's great I did try looking there but no luck for me I found starting with a second account a fast solution for me 🙂
