How to unlock the Eye Gouger achievement in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen - Definitive Guide
Some basic tips for defeating it:
1. Bring Panacae or similar items. It will attempt to blind you, along with other afflictions. As far as physical damage, the Gazer relies on the tentacles like any other.
2. Attack the eye. It's the weakspot. Furthermore, the Gazer does not have a shield like normal Evil Eyes, so you can attack whenever and deal damage. Anywhere other than the eye, however, does very little. So don't waste the effort.
3. When you notice it's attention going to the tentacles (meaning it creates a magical sphere at the bottom of the shrine,) immediately hack them away. You can then use the cannon it created to fight back against it, dealing massive damage for a short moment.
The trophy will pop right after it's dead. The Gazer will respawn in both pre-Daimon and post-Daimon, so you can farm it whenever you'd like. I also recommend looting the area it's in, because there's quite a few chests. The materials the Gazer itself drops is also generally regarded as rare.
The Gazer is the first main boss in Bitterblack Isle. This is a gigantic version of the Evil Eye we fought in the Everfall, and its eyeball is located inside of a giant ocular cavity that resembles a mouth this time. However, you can still climb on it, inside the mouth, and right onto that annoying eye to deal out some serious damage. You should fight this battle on the ground floor (rather than any of the ramps) though when he starts to spew out the green poison, head for higher ground.
If you can't seem to do enough damage to the eye on your own, at some point during the fight the Gazer will begin to summon a "light cannon" of sorts to try and use against you. If you destroy the tentacles that are working on the summoning, you can then attack the cannon and it will backfire against the Gazer for massive damage. This is how I killed it the first time before realizing I could climb into its mouth the second time.
