In Chapter One: A sticky situation you will see your first pencil as soon as you start. This is the leaf pencil and it allows you to bring dead trees back to life which will clear the pools of ink on the ground and also will kill the baddies.
There is a brief "walkthrough" of the level in the spoiler tags if you want it.
To defeat him, you simply need to back away from him towards the big tree, maybe dodging an attack or two. The trees will slowly kill him and he usually dies right about the time he gets to the big tree. That's it, achievement unlocked!
