How to unlock the Aberration Attractor achievement in DREDGE - Definitive Guide

The Atrophy skill is key here. Go up to a fishing spot of the aberration you want to catch. For example, go to a Cod fishing spot if you’re missing the Cod aberrations. Use Atrophy and you’ll most likely get the aberrations you’re looking for.

Unfortunately for fish/aberrations that can only be caught trawling I believe you just have to keep boating around.

Scooby, your tip worked well for me too, I got it within 2-3 mins. I was in an area in F-10 that had "Plenty" fish however, and I caught it around 10.30pm so not sure if the nighttime influenced it.

There is a very early item. Sign of Ruin, that also seems to increase odds. Takes up 1 fishing spot. I was using it early and got a lot of abb .May help.

The thing Twigleaf mentions is the $5 DLC Blackstone Key. Get it from the Blackstone Shack. So no, it's not available from early game. It comes from your wallet.

For the anchovy king, go to the top left corner of square F-10 (where the trawl says there's few fish) and just spin in a stationary circle. It seems to give almost exclusively anchovies to increase your chances of getting the Aberration. I probably just got lucky but I got it there in like 5 minutes of just spinning in a circle. Just make sure you have the Heavy-Duty Trawl Net since its the only one that can catch Anchovies.

There are now 151 different varieties of underwater fauna you will need to find throughout the bse game in order to fill your Encyclopedia. 67 of those creatures are the known species of fish you will need for Master Angler trophy_gold.png. The other 84 are Aberrations of those species, with ten of these being added in the Dredge Update 2 on 6 July 2023 and another 13 crab pot aberrations added in Update 3 on 18 September 2023.

There are seven different rod types and the type of rod usually will coincide with the environment (Shallow for skimpier pools of water, Oceanic for large catches in the open ocean, Abyssal and Hadal rods for truly deep fishing, Mangrove for the murky swamps of Twisted Strand, Volcanic for the steamy Devil's Spine) Not all of these rods will be available through research and purchase alone, so if you are stuck on the ability to snag a type, make sure you are talking to NPCs and fulfilling the Pursuits you are given.

You will need to find 84 aberrated versions of the fauna you found for Master Angler trophy_gold.png throughout the five regions and the open waters in between them. Below is a list of species by region and rod type, as well as if the species is only found at night/day. The Aurora Jellyfish (Coastal), and Anchovy (Oceanic) aberrations can still only be caught through Trawl Net, but Patch 1.1.0 has now implemented a doubled chance to catch these two aberrations

There is one useful ability that can make much of this collection easier: Whenever you use Atrophy on a fishing spot, you are guaranteed to receive at least one aberration of that species. Atrophy does have a cooldown of 12 hours, so use it accordingly to your best benefit.

Added with Update 3, your boat now has an Aberration Bonus Percentage. This can be raised by using Eldrich fishing tools such as the Rods you receive from the Fish Shrines (see Servant of the Shrines trophy_bronze.png) and the Sign of Ruin from the Blackstone Isle DLC if you own that item.

It is advised you obtain this trophy before adding The Pale Reach DLC to your game. This content adds a new area to your map, 11 new fish variations, 13 new aberrations and five new docks to the full tally of the game. Adversely, The Pale Reach does reward you with two new items that increase your Aberration Bonus Percentage, so it balances out in the end. If you require the new Pale Reach aberrations for this trophy, please check the guide in Cold Corruptions trophy_silver.png for those additions

Only the king of Anchovies remained from the last, can only be caught with a net, caught in square H12, just spin around in place

To make the task easier, use the perk (Exhaustion). When you catch the original fish, use the perk: 100% of the fish will be a mutant, if the fish has 2 types of mutations, we repeat - they will give the 2nd type.

King anchovies can be caught in the ocean anywhere. Caught at Big Salt. Networks only

A small clarification, you do not need to catch the original fish. You need to find a school of the required type of fish and use “Depletion” on it, this way you are guaranteed to catch exactly this closest school and get 1 or more mutants (I’ve never left without mutants).

The king anchovy is best caught in square e10. Most of the time, only anchovies are caught there.
