How to unlock the Providence achievement in DREDGE - Definitive Guide
Dredge is an experience told through dialogue, environmental storytelling, fishing minigames and quests. Even the main focus of the story, procuring the five Relics for the Collector, is itself a quest. All tasks you need to complete to acquire the five Relics are tied to quests and all five areas have at least two side quests that will give you beneficial items such as Research Parts, Eldritch equiment you can use in your boat, trinkets and materials, or books that once read can give you incremental buffs in various attributes (engine speed, haggling for better prices, less panic build-up at night, etc.)
In-game all quests are referred to as Pursuits. There are 21 Pursuits that are available by the end of the game for you to complete. Many of them will be tied to the story, but there are also quite a few that can be carried out before or after the Relics are retrieved. We will be treating all the Pursuits as part of the trophy requirements and I will list the main Relic Pursuits as such just for clarity.
An important thing to note: There is no way that I have found that any of the 21 Pursuits can be failed, locking you out of this trophy. There are enough chances that an NPC or item you are transporting can be lost, a hooded figure is not fed in time and can die, the Castaway is left behind due to lack of room in your boat and disappears, or you sell the belt buckle to the Trader instead of give it to the Grieving Father. In all of these instances, each Pursuit will still be "resolved" and you will get this trophy after resolving all 21 Pursuits. No bad ending to a Pursuit will change anything in game, including the multiple endings of the game, The only penalty for a Pursuit that maybe did not go as you hoped would be you get less (or no) rewards upon completion. Some Pursuits end badly with no reward even if you do everything right.
If you are playing with the latest patch (1.1.0 released on 11 May 2023) The timer has been removed from the Hooded Figure and Castaway Pursuits and quest items are highlighted as important when trying to sell them off, so the Grieving Father Pursuit may be easier to avoid blundering, which takes the stress away entirely.
I have created Pursuit guides for each of the five regions and you can follow those guides as they are listed in each of the five Relic trophy guides (The Key , The Secret , The Bond , The Chains , The Moment ) and I will list them below as well. I grouped any Pursuits that are found at the small islands in between the five areas as connected to whichever of the four corner areas each was nearest. The Marrows have a full third of all 21 Pursuits, so I felt the rest should be divided accordingly:
Greater and Little Marrow

If the character for whom you were looking for fish died while you were doing this, this is also the end of the mission.
