After you have acclimated to the chilly climate of The Pale Reach and have fed the Narwhal for the first time (See Feeding Time ) you will now have access to the center waterways of the icy land. As mentioned above, traveling into the open waters inside, you will find a dock and this will be referred to as Central Camp.  Here you will find a hand drawn map of the island, along with three snippets of lore and an Ice Shard that contains a "dark form" you can engage in dialogue with to gather even more information. 

Within spitting distance of the Central Camp dock will be a glowing item in the water. Dredge the spot to obtain the first of your three Ice Breaker pieces and consult your new map section. You will notice three more dock locations in the Pale Reach, so head as close as you can get to the Eastern Terminus or Western Bearing dock, feed the Narwhal in order to break the ice wall barriers, read the new Journal entries, talk with the Dark Form and search the area for the next Ice Breaker piece. Repeat this process to get to the remaining Eastern or Western dock..

Below is the map which has been marked with the three Ice Breaker pieces (designated by Jewel Markers).



By the end of this step, you should have all three pieces of the Ice Breaker, so head back to the Traveling Merchant and assemble the unit at the Icy Worksite and equip the new boat modification so you can break through the small ice formations in the water and access all other areas in The Pale Reach that were previously inaccessible.

Use your new ability to reach the final new dock, labeled as Southern Locus on the map above with a purple "?" Here you will find the conclusion of the lore dump and the final frozen crew spirit. There is another frozen ...thing... nearby, as well as a glowing dredge spot in the water. If you pull up the item, you will discover your first of four Ice Axes. These will be used on the Frozen Shards to begin the second half of this main pursuit. 

Retrieve the Ice Axes, Break the Ice at the four dock locations and you will receive an item each time called a Glass Heart. The Glass Hearts can be deposited at the Rock Slab found at K -4 (indicated on the above map with the Blue Anchor Marker)

Once you have freed the spirits and retrieved the four glass hearts, deposit them into the Rock Slab. This will complete the "Under the Ice" Pursuit and will reward you with the Radiant Trawl Net which catches Ice, Coastal, Oceanic and Shallow fish, has an aberration bonus of 5% as well as quite a few other upgrades over any other Trawl Net you can get in the game  Completing the Pursuit will also award you this trophy.

By the completion of this Pursuit, you will also be rewarded with a Relic-like item, The Aurous Anchor, which can be picked up at the Southern Locus site. This item will create a portal to Blackstone Isle that you can use as many times as you wish. The portal can be removed and placed at any other location and will still allow quick passage to Blackstone Isle any time or place it is used as long as you have the Aurous Anchor in your Cargo. It does not get turned in to The Collector and does not get added to your ability wheel.
