You need to control 30 villages on a single map, so small map is not enough, there are 27 regions only. I did it on a large map. Medium should be good as well.
It takes a lot of time to farm "power" to conquer 30 villages. Even with game speed set to 1.5x.
First of all, after you beat the AI - keep playing. Start trading with "wild villages" so no one will attack you. Sometimes you will see "ruins" icon on the map, send your troops there to collect free "power". Depends on your Faction and Technology you will generate something like 9-15 of Power for ingame time unit. Conquer one village requires 250-500 Power resources, depends how far from your base the village is.
