Explosive traps are the Huntress' first kind of tower. Add the Huntress to your "deck" (meaning equip her as one of your heroes.) Switch to her during a build phase, and hold 
to bring up your towers. Press 
to select the Explosive traps, and a to place it. Upgrading with 
+
will increase the damage.
Use a lot of upgraded Explosive traps at once to unlock this quickly.

this is the Huntress+ trap ability. what i did was do the second level (Dragonfall Bazaar) and put the traps outside the enemy gates a little back starting with 3 then 4 then 3 like so

and also around the crystal itself. you may have to kill a few of the bigger enemy's and the boss
P.S. i did this with a level 30 Huntress so it might be a good idea to play a bit and then go back and do this
