How to unlock the Maximum Charisma achievement in Dungeon Siege III - Definitive Guide

You gain influence by responding to specific conversations with the dialog wheel with your current companion depending on what they are most agreeable towards. Also playing in a party (as host) with four others seems to help increase the chances of gaining influence as you will have three other companions. I found this to be somewhat difficult on my first play through. I was playing mostly with Anjali as an AI partner and at the end of the game I managed only to get her influence a little more than halfway on the meter.

However, playing around trying to do another achievement, I discovered a way to get infinite influence. Possibly even more than just one companion if you were so inclined. Only found out how to do this at the end of the game, so it is best to try it there - I will keep this spoiler free as well.

Only recommend this if you really want the achievement or ran out of options trying to gain maximum influence during your playthrough.

The Trick
Near the end of the game when you return to the first Legion Chapterhouse (points of no return and prior to entering the East Forest), there will be a room with spider webs all over, a save point, and two doors that open into the East Forest. When you open the first door using RB your companion will make a comment about it being an honor to fight by your side and shortly after the influence gain text will pop up.

After that, you can press the BACK button to see where you are influence wise with your current companion. Then turn around and save at the save point. Afterwards, load the same save file you just created. Then open the door again, even if the door appears to be opened still go up to it and there should be a prompt to open it. Your companion will speak again and another influence gain should pop up, check the progress meter to make sure it has advanced. Then just repeat the process of saving and opening the door, saving and opening the door - to earn the achievement.

If you have saved at the save point close to the last boss fight, you can back track all the way to the Legion Chapterhouse again. Go through the doors to the save point and then just reopen the last door you went through and it should prompt you again. Then save and repeat.

Felt it was necessary to also give credit to another player who figured this out before I did, from Elyoh's post on Xbox360Achievements.org - Frogcat from Playstation Network.

I wonder if this trick also works with swapping out different companions to get Circle of Friends achievement.

Yes it works for both. Didn't this trick come from the x360a forums?

I'm having a hard time with this achievement. I've had Anjali with me for a good 95% of my time with the game, have done all sidequests and explored all dialogue options, picking choices commonly seen as "good". Anjali's Influence bar isn't even filled halfway. I'm at the Spire at the time of writing.

Guess I'll have to try "The Trick" on another playthrough.

@Buff Beefbroth - Why another play through? If you are at the Spire, you have a chance to do the trick coming up as it is the very last section of the game. There are two save points in the area prior to final boss and the first save point is the area in which the trick is done. No need for another play through unless you want to get the achievement the intended way.

Oh, uh. I must've misread. When I saw mention of the Legion Chapterhouse, I automatically assumed the beginning of the game, even though the guide does say "near the end of the game". Whoops.

makes me wonder what is the non-Trick way to do it, if it seems that impossible for a normal playthrough o.O Good find!

i have had Anjali with me for an entire run through but have only managed to get the influence up to 50%, maybe 55%,
i also saved before every dialogue and then went through each one many times to see which direction gives some influenced, but some of the time nothing is given, its quite annoying trying to do it the proper way, so i may have to try your way, well done on finding it by the way

Hey can you get this achievement in cooperative, and if so how? For instance, I am Katarina in my friends game, does that mean that Katarina is also the companion?

@Ganluan - If I did see the forums first I would have never written this solution and if I did see it, I always give credit where credit is due. I haven't even checked their forums with this game, I honestly found this on my own and after I finished the game I wanted to try to get the 3 hour achievement so I had my second controller trying to see if I can have both characters run into the wall while I did other things and happened to try at the very last save point in the game. Back tracked to that room because I thought it'd be safer in there while I was away. Found out that its hard to get them to run into a wall because they just stop.. so I signed out of second controller and it went back to the AI. Went to close the door that was opened and noticed the influence gain, so I just saved and loaded to check and was pleasantly surprised. Game registers it as you opening the door for the first time.

@lolrogi - It should work. I went back and tried with the other two companions. So I guess if you are stuck with that achievement its possible to do here, but found it easy anyways just playing with each companion for awhile.

First and foremost, RaajTM's solution works. You can indeed max influence with everyone by exploiting the Chapterhouse door dialogue. However, this does not happen until the very end of the game, and you can get this achievement long before this point if you wish.

Below is a link to a dialogue guide, but I first want to provide a tip:

My recommendation is to increase influence with all your companions up to 75% before you get to that part. Reason for it is you will gain 2, 3, and 5 in a specific stat at 25%, 50%, and 75% influence with each character. You only get an achievement for 100% influence with one companion. 100% with everyone gives you nothing extra. Its worth going after these stat bonuses if you are playing on the hardest difficulty.

All influence is gained through quest related dialogue choices, and each companion requires a different answer to raise their influence.

Here's a link to who, what, where, and when for influence related dialogue choices.

Update 5/14/2017: the link to the prima guide above was open to the public when I posted it, but those jerks have locked it. Here is a link to a guide on Steam with a section containing + influence dialogue choices for each character: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=13867...

NOTE: the above link only has answers for the main game. The DLC offers more. Here are links each character's dialogue choices in Treasures of the Sun:

Missable.

For this you should concentrate on one companion only and not change to the others. You should work on this on another playthrough if you want to get Circle of Friends as well. As soon as I got Circle of Friends, I stuck to one companion and was just short of reaching this. To view how far along you are, press and progress appears next to your companion as a yellow bar marked as 'Influence'.

This is also best attempted in offline mode as you could be working on one character and someone else could come into your game and start using a different character. Save regularly and reload at most of the conversations to try different options, this will allow you to see which ones will add influence and which won't.

If you have made all the correct conversation choices, this should appear by the time you reach the Spire.

See Circle of Friends for easy way to get this trophy.

At the end of the game, you will find yourself in your burning shelter. As you go down the stairs there will be a safe and a door. You save, open the door, you receive a message that your reputation has improved, you save and load the safe again, the door is closed, it can be opened again, repeat until you receive the achievement.
