How to unlock the Hands off the Dungeonheart! achievement in Dungeons 3 - Definitive Guide

To obtain this achievement you must not let the dungeonheart's hit points drop below 5000.

To begin with there is a death hammer Grimli will use to cause tremors through your dungeon which will damage the dungeonheart for about 1000 points. You also have to worry about heroes entering your dungeon through the front door. To deal with those I built a series of spike traps along my main corridor with a door at the end to slow them down. So one of your first tasks is to get box production set up.

When attacking above ground I made sure I left 2 orcs to mop up any heroes that hadn't been killed by the traps.

Destroying the first hammer quickly isn't too important as your dungeonheart will regenerate hit points over time if damaged. Build an army of around 9 orcs and 4 nags, along with any zombies and demons you have. Send them at the hammer to destroy it. After you destroy the first hammer a second will appear which isn't much of a threat. You will need to create a bridge but it's all scripted and the game highlights where you have to go.

The third hammer is a pain. It's actually 3 hammers, which can deal big damage to your dungeonheart. These hammers hit me twice before I could destroy them, doing 2000+ and then 2500+ damage respectively, so make sure you're at full health and deal with raiders quickly. I would recommend taking them down before the 3rd strike to be sure of them not dealing too much damage. Build the biggest army you can and prepare to send reinforcements.

On approach to the hammers you will face a cannon turret. I would say that you should take it down before reaching the gate, else it will pummel your army whist trying to take down the gate.

When dealing with groups of enemies, target any novices/apprentices first, then any dwarf cannons, then the dwarves, then whatever is left.

The achievement will pop once you have defeated Grimli, along with the achievement for completing the mission if you haven't popped that yet.

This is done in the "The Battle of Steelsmith" level. Your Dungeonheart is the big red crystal in the centre of your dungeon and acts as your "heart". If it's destroyed, it's literally game over. For this trophy make sure the Dungeonheart's health never falls below 50% health. It can get injured and it will heal over time. If you respond actively to dungeon invasions you should get this easily. The Dungeonheart is also quite sturdy so you have some buffer time to defend against attackers if it is being attacked.

The other problem is that the Heroes have built hammers that send tremors down to your dungeon and damage the Dungeonheart so you can't simply hide in your dungeon. At each set period the hammers will strike and cause damage to your Dungeonheart so you'll need to be active and destroy the hammers in the Overworld. However the good news is that the damage done by the hammers is quite low so you'll have ample time.

The danger comes from the last set of hammers the Heroes have hidden as backup. These hammers do a lot of damage and can bring your Dungeonheart to under 50% health if you let it. However there should be sufficient time to amass a large enough force to destroy this last set of hammers before it can pose any danger.
