How to unlock the A Game of Catch achievement in Dying Light - Definitive Guide

As mentioned in protectmecone09's solution, anything you throw and kill an enemy with will count towards these fifty kills.

One fast way to get the required kills is to craft exploding throwing stars (which are unlocked at Survivor Level 4 if you unlock the 'Elemental Throwing Stars' Perk). With these throwing stars, it takes only 1 throw to kill the base-level infected enemies (can be confirmed on the slow infected and the chasers). Only caveat to this method is that they do make noise which means you can get overrun quickly if you attempt this strategy early in the game.

This is my first solution so if there are any ways I can improve, just let me know.

The above guides are great but there is an even easier way of getting this, and you don't even have to craft ANYTHING!!!!!

In the Tower, in the same room as the vendor, there is a guy named Buckshot who has a challenge called The Killing Guide....

The first challenge is to kill 40 infected with a baseball bat in two minutes.............finish that to get his second challenge........

Now the second challenge is where this achievement comes in.......he wants you to kill 30 infected with (unlimited) throwing stars in two minutes.............if you are at 0% on this achievement......what you should do is kill 25, then let the time run out, you will be able to restart the challenge, and your past kills will still count towards the cheevo......

The achievement pops after you kill the 50th infected.......easy peasy!!

Pretty self explanatory, anything that you throw and kill an enemy with will count for this. Using throwing knives typically will take two of them to make a kill, later in the game up to three or four.

However, if you progress through the game a bit to survivor rank 8 or higher then join a game with someone who just slept through their first night and is a low rank, you can get easy kills with just one throwing knife. Speeds up the process a lot and saves you from having to craft as many knives.

Easiest way is to start working on your power and agility challenges, you need to do these for the i'm a runner and a fighter achievement anyway. Go to Buckshot's power challenge in the tower(first safe zone), his first challenge will involve killing with a bat. Go do the next closest power or agility challenge to unlock Buckshot's second challenge. It involves killing 30 infected with throwing stars, make sure to stop at 29 kills so you don't win the challenge. Replay it and finish the full 30 kills and unlock the achievement.

Throwing weapons, such as knives and shurikens, can be crafted from blueprints, bought from shops, and frequently looted from Rais’ men.

There is one very easy way you can get this achievement without even worrying about grinding it out. In the northeast part of the Slums, you will eventually see a knife throwing challenge that takes place on the lakeside docks. Simply play that challenge until you are just about finished, and let time run out, then repeat the process until the achievement unlocks. You will have infinite throwing weapons that also appear to be a bit more powerful than usual, as I was able to kill the larger zombies that spawned in a single throw.

Throwing weapons range from ninja stars, to axes. These are not your typical melee weapons, as you can only throw them. Throwing weapons with the "Throw" skill does NOT count. You can either craft them from a blueprint or buy them. It is best to craft them though as you can add elemental effects to them this way. Regular throwing weapons are very weak so we highly recommend you to craft the "Exploding Ninja Star", as it will kill regular zombies in one throw, whereas the "Ninja Star" takes at least 3 depending on where you hit them. In order to craft an exploding ninja star, you will need to learn the "Elemental Throwing Stars" Survivor skill. You will need: x1 Blaze, x1 Gauze, and x1 Chemicals which can all be purchased from traders. After you've crafted your exploding ninja stars, equip the weapon and start killing zombies until the trophy unlocks.

Alternatively, you can also earn this trophy during the Power Challenge, "A game of catch". After completing the main story quest, "The Pit", you will open up a challenge line called "Killing Guide" located in the tower. The first challenge for this challenge line involves a baseball bat, but the second challenge involves killing enemies with thrown weapons. This is a great method for getting thrown weapon kills out of the way as well as making challenge progress on I'm a Runner and a fighter.
