How to unlock the Blinded by the Lights achievement in Dying Light - Definitive Guide

On the story mission Airdrop, when it turns to night and you're suppose to run to the base, don't complete the objective. Get to the safehouse and keep going back outside looking for different Volatiles.

Once you find them, hit them to get their attention and shine your UV Flashlight until they appear stunned. It has to be on different ones I believe, so run around near the safehouse and look for different ones. If you happen to die you'll spawn right back in the safehouse and it'll stay night as long as you don't complete the objective.

Keep your regular flashlight off though (d-pad up)....otherwise you can't blind them with the UV flashlight which is an equipment item (activated with LT after selecting it with d-pad left)
+1 good solution

Nice solution, though I don't believe the comment above is correct. I've always had my flashlight on while UV flashing Volatiles.

Yes it has to be different (annoying) volatiles, it doesn't work on one.
Do it on a save house at night, blind one then kill him, make some noise to attract others.

You can do this also in the last Mission there is Place where you get chased from many Volatiles. Just Blind them, get killed and repeat, if you do so you get this Achievement in a few minutes.

Having your regular flashlight on works just fine. I had it on for almost all of them.

This will only work if you're about to enter the final mission. It will also require dying a few times.

If you don't want to die I have an alternate solution.

Instead, you can find a safe zone that's the easiest for you to get in and out of. Sleep until it's night time and then go out running around and attract volatiles attention. Have them chase you to the safe house, UV flash as many as you can, then get the heck in the safe house. Then just rinse and repeat. However this method will be a bit lengthier than my first.

The good thing about the second solution is that you will receive bonus agility experience each time you evade the volatile pursuit.

I got this easier then I thought.....this method is a LOT safer in my opinion AND can be done in BROAD DAYLIGHT!!!!!! This solution is probably the fastest, easiest, and most importantly, the safest method!!!

If you are starting from 0%, you will need at least 9 flares, (I used Zaid's UV flares), a gun of some kind, ammo of course, (firecrackers didn't seem to draw ALL of the Volatiles), some medkits (they may spit or tap at you), and of course maybe the UV Flashlight.......

You will want to get to the Quarantine Zone: Underground Parking located in The Slums, if you don't know where that is, on your map, look North, and slightly west, you will see 3 safehouses rather close together, one at the top, and two right next to each other BARELY southeast of the first one..(it is Northwest of the supermarket with the loudspeaker) ...now you see that kinda almost upside down "C" shaped building? The starting point is behind it......

What makes this "easy" is that you start off protected by a wall you can jump on top of.......

Once you enter, jump on the left wall, click cn_RS to fine aim, you will see 2 zombies and maybe 1 Volatile to your left, shoot any of them and you should get the attention of 3 Volatiles.......they will run up to your wall and try to attack you, just drop a flare, and you may get all three in one shot......

Press cn_guide, then cn_LSl to check to see if your progress went up (it may be good to have Blinded by the Lights marked as a favorite by pressing cn_X so it is right on top).......

If your progress went up, all you do is leave the Zone and reenter, and repeat the process...

Note: If you die inside the zone for any reason AFTER blinding the three Volatiles, you will restart inside the zone, BUT if you try to blind them again, it won't count because they are considered the same three Volatiles, when you exit and reenter, the game thinks that there are three NEW Volatiles, and this is why this solution is probably the fastest, safest and easiest method!!!

If my description of the location of Underground Parking wasn't clear or detailed enough, here is a link to a map:
http://www.gosunoob.com/dying-light/all-quarantine-zone-loca...

Note: So you don't get confused like I did thinking that there were two entrances, the picture is split in two, the top half is zoomed out, while the bottom half is zoomed in for a more detailed description......

If you want to know how to get Zaid's UV flares, here is a link for a walkthrough: http://guides.gamepressure.com/dyinglight/guide.asp?ID=29399

The link above doesn't show the starting point, so here is a video that shows where the safehouse is to start the quest and provides a whole video walkthrough!!

I hope this is useful to you, and may work better for some then others, but this is the way I killed off my last 70% in only a short time!!

The other solutions are great, however I did notice something that I'm not sure if its a glitch or not but it wasn't mentioned anywhere. Whenever I die at night I do not lose any survivor points. I don't earn the bonus ones but there is no deduction for death. If that is the way the game is meant to work than just run around at night finding any volitile you can, blind him, try to kill him and if you die or not, just run around and find another.

Let me know if this is just me or if survivor points are not lost at night for anyone.

This can be done pretty easily, and also easily net you the "Mouths Wide Open" (Kill a Volatile) achievement as well. It just requires a rocky shoreline near the ocean. There are a few places, but my favorite is to the left of the bridge (with the bridge in front of you). Sleep at the nearby tower to change to night, then slide down the wire to the bridge. Jump off the bridge and swim to shore, you'll see a rock outcropping that you can climb up. Then run up to the street or toss firecrackers to attract Volatiles. Once you get one on your tail, more will come. Run back to the rock outcropping, wait for the Volaties to get near, and jump in the ocean. They will climb around on the rocks in front of you. Here you can then blind the Volatiles with your blue light, and they will almost always fall into the ocean and die, netting you experience points for killing them, and the "Mouths Wide Open" achievement. It will probably take a few nights if starting from scratch, but it's worth it.

In order to earn this trophy, you must first unlock the UV flashlight which you'll get from Spike after you complete the "First Assignment" quest. This flashlight can be equipped from the inventory menu onto your . Once it's equipped on your menu, equip it as your secondary weapon. This will activate the flashlight whenever you press . It's also highly recommended to learn the "Backlash" skill so you can blind enemies from behind while running. It's also worth noting that you must BLIND volatiles, not just shine your flashlight at them. You will know when they're blinded as they stop running and cover their faces with their hands.

For a method on how to actually earn this trophy, refer to the second paragraph of Electrified! for more details.
