How to unlock the It's All In the Writing achievement in Dying Light - Definitive Guide
The best Time to collect the 67 Collectibles is after the Story. Choose Continue in the Mainmenu and you go back to Harran in Free Roam Mode and can all do what you want. Another good Hint is, reach Rank 12 in Survivor Tree for the Grappling Hook. This Tool makes the climbing so much easier in the Game.
A Word to the Sidequest, Sidequests unlocks Locations and on this Locations are many Collectibes. For the Battle Journals you have to play 0 Sidequests, for the Voice Mail Recordings you have to play 2 Sidequests and for the Notes are tons of Sidequest to play, so the best Way is, beat the Game, play all Sidequest and then begin to collect the (missing) Collectibles.
Note from Prattalmighty in the Comments:
You may want to also add in a part for the people who were stuck like me with 67/67 collectibles found, but less than 100% showing in the tracker. They can start a "New Game" save file and start picking up notes and battle journals, they'll see their completion percentage rise and the achievement will unlock after a few, work for me today.

--------------------------------------------------------
The only thing you should add in your description is the location on the map of Note #1. If you've already completed the Good Night Mr. Bahir side quest, it's not obvious where the exact location of the drug store is where you will actually find the note. I think it was the safe house north west of the Tower.
Note: I used this myself to find the rest I was missing post game, and I thought this was a great piece of info to share!!
The great thing about this game is that it shows you EXACTLY what you have and what you are missing!! Press , go to INVENTORY, then press for all your collectable files....

Update/Edit: Old town's note map is kinda confusing because it using letters next to some numbered notes. That is because those places are the places you would visit while finishing that particular note's side quest. Assuming you finished all side quests, you would only need to find on the map, numbers 27c, 29b, 33c, and 34b.........
Notes 27(C) and 28 MAY require you to have started Shadow of the King...(Assuming you are on this quest currently and got all the key cards.)....You only really need a key card for room 101.
Update: I already beat the game and finished all side quests, and I still had to get the staff key card. As soon as you enter the building, you will want to head to your right where the stairs are and get the Staff Room key again. As soon as you enter the Staff Room, room 101's key is the first card on the floor in front of you. You won't need the key for room 107, the room door is wide open.
27(C): Go up the starts, turn right and enter the last room on your left, room 107. It on the right hand side on a desk next to a phone.
28: From 27(C), go back into the hallway, go right and head all the way to the other side, and use the key card to enter room 101. Enter the bedroom on the right and note #28 is on the dresser.
29(B): I got this while I was in the Chasing Past quest. Its on the right hand side of the door itself before you even walk into apartment 3.
30, 31, 32: On the roof of a kinda "L" shaped building, directly NE of the southernmost safehouse. In a fenced in area with lawn chairs, you will find Note #30 next to a metal hatch. Turn around, and you will see a set of lights on a yellow tripod. Note #31 in on the ground next to it, in front of a planter with 3 plants. Go back to where you found note #30, and look right. Note 32 is on that lower level of the roof to the right of another metal hatch.
33(C): (You MAY have to have finished (or even start) Health Potion to get this note) In the pharmacy on the counter in a back room to the right of a computer...I believe its the same pharmacy from "Health Potion"
34(B): (You MAY have to have finished (or even start) Fan Boy to get this note) Its not where it says it is in the guide (There is a Zombie Statue there though).....Take the elevator up, move to the right ride of the room, go straight ahead (you can break the glass wall) and enter the door with a blue number 2 next to it............Right when you walk in the door, you will see a red chair ahead of you, note #34 is right behind it on a speaker.........
I hope this helps you as much as it's helped me..........Happy Hunting!!!!
Leave it until you have finished all side quests as some of these will only become available in certain areas of the game. Follow these three videos to collect the ones you missed whilst playing: http://www.playstationtrophies.org/game/dying-light-ps4/trop...
Go into your inventory, hit and it will take you to your collectibles page. Go through all the ones your missing and then the videos conveniently list the times in the video so you can find them easier.
Fastest way is probably to do what I did and get all the collectibles in one area then travel to the next to get all the ones there rather than going back and forth. All credit to www.playstationtrophies.org for the video.
There are many types of collectibles scattered throughout the world that you can find, including the items necessary for this achievement, as well as some statues and flags only in place for completionist’s sake. The text items you need are found primarily in areas you visit for the story, or side story missions, with some outliers.
This description is a little misleading, because you need to collect 34 Notes, 17 Battle Journals and 16 Voicemails. The latter may be assumed to not be required, but don't overlook them. Consult the video guide listed by Predni HERE, or scroll down for PowerPyx's videos.
Click through the video link to see the Youtube descriptions, which have a timestamp breakdown of all of the collectibles you need.

GLITCHED
This trophy is currently glitched. For whatever reason it will not unlock when collecting all 67 and this has happened to a number of people. However, there is a way around the glitch. What you want to do is start a new save in slot 2. If you press on the new save to open the "Advanced" menu up then you can select what quest you want to start from. Pick any of the ones in old town so you have access to more collectibles. Now you just want to go around and pick up collectibles, and hope the trophy unlocks after a couple. It could unlock after 1 but for some it took at least 60 in order for it to unlock. You can stack the collectibles over all 4 save slots.
There are a total of 67 collectibles that you need to find for this trophy. They consist of 34 Notes, 17 Battle Journals and 16 Voice recordings. None of the collectibles are missable and they can all be picked up at any point in the story, and in free roam. A lot of collectibles need side quests in order to open up the building they are in, so you are best doing them before you attempt to get this trophy. The only exception to this are the battle journals, because they can be collected at any point during the game and don't require certain side quests to be completed. We have listed all the ones that require a side mission in the descriptions of each video if you want to collect them as you do side missions. We do, however, advise that you just do all side quests first then come back and do the collectibles. The videos below will show you the locations of all 67.
In order to check how many you have, press while in the inventory. You can see how many you are missing here and what ones you already have. The collectibles are all in order so it makes tracking them easy. You can also hold down to use your night sense while in the game world. Doing so highlights collectibles and such within a short range. This makes finding some of them a little easier.
