How to unlock the Mount Everest achievement in Dying Light - Definitive Guide

This is not a solution as such, just a quick tip for the people bored enough to do it.

After finishing the game and all of the side quests I was only at 61%. I figured grappling hook does not count so started to climb up and down a van on the bridge and I've gone up to 64% in 5 minutes. Just jump and hold back on the left stick, it'll take you off the roof of the van as soon as possible.

Like I say its not really a solution, but if its your last achievement or something, why not?

Edit: I have just found a derailed train that is slightly higher on one side, its right in front of the Bright Mountain Tunnel quarantine zone. I was doing this for 6:30 minutes whilst listening to a video and went up 7%. Hope this helps

I actually did what you said, but in the bridge side town on a building. Was going 1% a minute while listening to music.

can this achievement be done over multiple play-throughs or does it have to just be one

Multiple i believe. A lot of the achievements stack so I see no reason why this shouldn't

I hope this stacks or else it may be glitching for me. Stayed at 80% throughout a 5 hour session where I climbed everything in sight. It's a new game plus that I just started to clean up side missions and what not. So if anybody else has had this issue or knows that it stacks, please comment.

Im not sure about new game+ man, i never started it, the only thing i did on multiple playthroughs was starting a new game and fast forwarding to the last mission to pick up 2 notes, then quit and reload again. My friend also had the safehouse one unlock over multiple playthroughs, but neither of us started new game+.

Thanks for the guide. Using your technique, I added to it a little. When you first reach Old Town, theres a long green nearby to the NW. On the East side, there is a bus, and 2 police cars. You def dont get credit for using the grappling hook. But also, it seems you might not get credit for climbing unless you see the points added to your agility bar. So i went in a loop. Bus, statue, cop car, fence, bus, and so on. Getting points on every single climb. Getting about 1% per minute.

This achievement isn't unlocking for me, and is stuck at 99%.

I thought this spot was exceptional. Not only do you not have to waste time riding a zipline for 15 seconds back down like in some other methods from a different tower, but you also can level up your agility pretty fast while doing it! (double xp at night FYI with almost no resistance)

Here is a video to what I Believe is the fastest method of obtaining this in the game. No wasted time, your pretty much just constantly climbing.

Unfortunately I can't show a location in a text guide, so here is the video.

great guide, personally I'm finding it easier to do a quick turn and forward jump at the top, keep missing jumping off backwards.

Great method! I've also found that if you aim the grappling hook at the ground as you fall off the building you can speed up the process a bit. Just a tip!

This achievement is cumulative and will likely be one of the last achievement you unlock. The distance required by this achievement is insanely high relative to how much progress you'll make during a normal playthrough. To put it in perspective, by the time you complete the game and all other achievements, you're lucky to be halfway done with this achievement.

There is unfortunately no quick way to grind this achievement out. The only option is to pick a high building and climb it over and over again. The best way to reduce the grind on this achievement is to play the entire game without using the grappling hook. This can make things more of a struggle, especially when trying to escape sticky situations, but if you make a conscious effort to climb buildings manually instead of using the grappling hook, it'll significantly cut down on the grind you'll be faced with at the end of the game.

This will mostly likely be one of the final trophies that you earn before your Platinum. 8848 meters is a LOT and will take hours to farm, depending on how much you've climbed through your Platinum run. We highly recommend that you avoid using the grapple hook as much as you can. We're aware that it's a great tool, but it will save a lot of time in the long run if you climb everything that you can without it. Climbing just about everything counts towards this trophy, such as: Climbing buildings, over cars, fences etc.

If you have not earned this trophy before you're near the Platinum, then we recommend to climb the middle tower in Old Town. It is the highest building in the city, and this tower is very easy to climb, and easy to get back to as well. As soon as you've reached the top of the building, use the zipline just North of the map to reach the tower across the street. Once you've reached the other side, use the grapple hook to reach the starting point of the tower and continue to climb the tower again. Below is a visual walkthrough of the tower and the route to farm this trophy:

You can check your progress towards this trophy from the Main Menu by going to "Extras", then "Personal Statistics".
