How to unlock the Open Sesame achievement in Dying Light - Definitive Guide

You will get it as you progress with the game.

If you want to get it quickly though, you need to search for police vans (hard or very hard lock), police cruisers (medium lock) and ambulances (easy lock). They are large, easy to spot and easy to access as they are usually guarded by a police officer or few dumb zombies.

There are two more options, but they require you to explore. You can find a lot of locked chests on rooftops or hidden in buildings. They are usually locked with medium lock.

Few quests also require you to open lock, but they are rather rare.

You should get this achievement within five hours of gameplay if you don't look for locks specifically.

Lockpicking in this game involves finding a locked door or chest, and each will be rated at a lockpicking difficulty of anywhere from Easy up to Very Hard. Lockpicks are either found in the world, crafted via a blueprint, or bought from a store. If you continually scavenge and loot everywhere you go, you're unlikely to ever run out of lockpicks. As for the actual lockpocking, rotate then turn , and if the controller vibrates too much the lockpick will break. Continue tweaking the and to minimize vibration and eventually you'll open the lock. During your playthrough you will unlock dozens of locks in order to explore, open up air drops, etc., so this achievement will come with natural progression well before finishing the story.

Throughout the game you will notice locked chests, and locked doors. In order to open these doors and chests you need to lockpick them. You will have to use the button to turn the analog stick, while using the analog stick to turn the pick. You will have to find the right spot to open the lock. Keep turning the turning pick () until you find the right area, then turn the pick () to open it. You will need to make sure that you have some lockpicks in your inventory, as you will need them in order to pick a lock. Once you have some, you will need to try to open locked chests across the game. Find the "sweet spot" of the lock by rotating the lock pick until it opens. If the lock doesn't move at all, then you are in the complete wrong part of the lock. If it moves a little or halfway round, then you are close to the spot. Locks range in difficulty from easy, medium, hard and very hard. The harder the difficulty, the smaller the "sweet spot". If you keep trying to open the lock in the wrong place, the lockpick will eventually break so make sure that you have lots of them on hand. You can also cancel a lockpick attempt by pressing while trying to pick a lock. Doing this can save you from breaking a lockpick, as they break after the 4th lockpick attempt. After you open 10 locks the trophy will unlock.
