How to unlock the Pearls in the Mud achievement in Dying Light - Definitive Guide

This is actually an incredibly easy achievement whose ratio I suspect will change dramatically quite soon. For it, you simply need to go into a quarantine zone and open 5 GRE chests.

What I did was revisit the Parking Lot quarantine zone in the western part of the Old Town map. The objective inside is to kill all zombies, which won't be a problem late in the game (or after you've beaten it). The upside is that you need to clear out this quarantine zone anyway if you want the related achievement. In any case, there are 5 GRE containers inside, all of which have "hard" locks. So just go in, swing away (beware of the exploder zombies shambling about), and open the containers at your leisure after you've cleared away the stinky undead denizens.

It's that easy.

This image is not my property, but it'll show you exactly where to go. Obviously, you want the red rectangle marked "Parking Lot." Bada bing!

For Pete's sake, at least leave some feedback if you're going to down vote. Not sure what else I could have done here.

Negative happens. There won't be a reason most of the time and fussing about it in your guide (or the comments) may just end up asking for more.

Anywho, Parking lot is the one I used. Took a few minutes to clear. Super easy.

Yeah they happen all the time, just one pissed off kid that cannot get the achievement. I have a few guides that have ten or more positive and one or two negatives max. I have one that has thirty-six positive and one negative. Anyway this was a great guide that made a pretty easy achievement even easier. Got them all in one area. +1

I try to take it all in stride, especially since none of this really matters in the long-term or has any real life applicability for most of us, but sometimes it just bugs me. But so it goes.

I have a guide for Batman Arkham Asylum, right under someone who's guide gave the wrong information (a certain cheevo pops later then when he stated), yet mine got negative votes, go figure.....

No worries, pal. And I thank you! I was done with the game when I went for this achievement, and just sort of stumbled upon this as a viable method.

I have a few other solutions for achievement for other games, and I'm continuously perplexed when I get negative votes. I strive to be as thorough and descriptive as possible, but somebody always seems to take exception. So it goes.

Hey Cellar Attic, I gave you a +1, does that make you happier? Lol!!

I got my cheevo much earlier though, I was doing a "All Quarantines Cleared" cheevo run, got all three GRE chests in the first one, and after unlocking the second one in Stuffed Turtle, it popped for me, so obviously it doesn't have to be in one Zone......but still great guide!!

I got all my GRE Chests on the quest "Bright Mountain Tunnel." I personally only had trouble with the first chest because my weapons were not that great - camouflage helps a lot as well. You can do this in co-op, but only the person that opens the chest gets credit for it. Here is a list of 8 Quarantine Zones.

Slums

  • Bright Mountain Tunnel
  • Chemical Storage
  • Sunny Apartments
  • Stuffed Turtle

Old Town

  • New Antalya Apartments
  • Parking Lot
  • Striped Dragon Hotel

Thanks to WeighingBrute, HERE is a video of him doing his run on Bright Mountain Tunnel.

Quarantine Zone locations are shown in the map with a symbol. You can go to the same one more than once. Each time you go into a Quarantine Zone and re-enter the GRE chests will re-spawn. The chests have valuable and unique weapons. I visited one zone and got 4 chests, I then completed the Zone left and returned. Upon opening the 1st chest on my return, the trophy popped.

Below are the locations of all 8 zones and there is a video on the Main Trophy Guide with more information about the zones.

Slums - Underground Parking
Slums - Stuffed Turtle
Slums - Sunny Apartments
Slums - Bright Mountain Tunnel
<- I did this one twice
Slums - Chemical Storage
Old Town - Striped Dragon Hotel
Old Town - Parking Lot
Old Town - New Antalya Apartments

Here is a video showing what the GRE chests look like:
