How to unlock the Completist achievement in DYNASTY WARRIORS 6 - Definitive Guide

Actually this achievement is for getting all characters to level 50.

QUICK EXP:
Here is my favorite way to quickly get exp...
Start with Guan Du(Cao Cao forces) and chose the character you want to raise. Now if hes at lvl 1-19 put the difficulty on easy any thing over 20 try to play on hard, never play on normal when trying to quickly lvl. your self up its harder then easy but gives you no extra exp. So playing on normal will only slow you down-You may also want to consider playing on Master difficulty around lvl.40 it will give you an extra 50% exp, but most officers seem to suck too much to easily pull it off. When your prepping your officer equip your fastest horse (preferable Red Hare King) and try to use a weapon with Flash(easly the best weapon ability in game). Once battle starts head directly for Bai Ma Fort (on the right side of screen) and kill first two officers(Shen Pei and Xun Chen). Next up will be Yuan Tan, kill him then Yuan Shang will arrive kill him as well(they will both drop 200 exp) Yan Liang(killing either Yan Laing or Wen Chou is Battle Target 1) and his officers Yan Rou, and Chen Zhen are next kill them as well(Now is a perfect time to use a tome if you have one). Now head to Yan Jin Fort and kill the two officers attacking it. Yuan Xi will show up next kill him(another 200exp). Next is Wen Chou with his sub-officers Lu Xiang and Lu Kuang(another good spot to use a tome) and finally Gao Lan.(he will also be worth 200 exp). Both forts will now be ok if neither fell during the attacks so your battle target 3 will be secured. Next head to Wu Chao Camp and lure all 8 officers into a circle around you. using you tomes kill them all(save Yuan Shao for last) and you'll get an ass load of exp. Your Battle Target 3 should aslo be complete(Guan Du gate east and west not breached).

NOTES:
1.Every officer you kill with a tome will drop 200exp.
2.When your officer levels up always go for tome related abilitys first. Tomes are the key to leveling up quick.
3.Getting 10,000 exp plus on Guan Du is very possible however it depends on lots of other little factors...
The difficulty, witch officer your using, what lvl they currently are, officer ability's, your horses speed, your current weapon and its abilitys ect
4.Hard plus 25% exp, Master plus 50% exp, Chaos plus 50% exp(should be one hundred damn it)
5.Every 100 kills is an extra 100 hundred exp.
6.Dont forget to pick up all exp even if its only worth 10

HOW TO FIND SPECIAL HORSE:
Getting a good horse like Red Hare King can be a pain because its all about luck and sadly I have found no easy way of getting them...here is what I do know.
1. There are a total of 5 horse kings that I know of and I believe it to be all of them.
2. Each horse is color specific*example to get Red Hare the horse must be red.
3. When you first receive a horse after a battle its bio under the picture of the horse must read "His eyes consider the world and he has a heavenly physique".
4. Here is each horse, their color, and special ability...
a.Red Hair King-Red-Able to run as fast as Red Hair
b.Grey King-White-Able to swim much faster
c.Ebon King-Black-Increases damage inflicted on enemies while running
d.Dapple King-Dark Brown-When landing from a high jump enemies are damaged by a shock wave
e.Auburn King-Light Brown-Able to charge throw large crowds
5.Once you obtain the horse you'll need to raise it with an officer that has the ability Horsemanship. There are a total of 8 officers from which you can use, but once you start raising a horse with a character do not use that horse with any other character(even if they have the horsemanship ability) or you will not get the King version.(learned that the hard way)
a.Doug Zhou
b.Lu Bu
c.Zhang Liao
d.Xiahou Dun
e.Guan Yu
f.Ma Chao
g.Sun Jian
h.Sun quan

Ok now on to finding the appropriate horse...
1.Select Battle of Chang Ban and pick Liu Bie's force.
2.I don't believe difficulty plays a factor in obtaining a good horse...though once again I can not confirm this. I would suggest trying on the easiest difficulty and if it does not work turn it up to normal or hard.
3.Next select two officer's(if you don't have a friend to help you just boot up a second controller and have him/her just stand some where safe) with the Lady Luck ability. Their are a total of 6 with it and here they are...
a.Yuan Shao
b.Liu Bie
c.Guan Ping
d.Xiao Qiao
e.Xu Zhu
f.Zhen Ji
4.When battle starts pull up the officer screen(Battleground) and locate 2nd Refugee group(Near a bridge in the very top left corner of map). Move to their position and save them by killing the officer chasing them in a giant circle(WTF?). Run around and you'll see a ramp that takes you up to a small camp, the box with the saddle is just before this. Now go around and quickly kill as many officers as you can to find another saddle(the holder is random). This was a very good level for me because the very first time I tried this I got Red Hare King...however I never got any other good horse this way so I may have just gotten lucky(though I only ever tried a couple of times).

NOTES:
1.If you have a horse with the Find Saddle ability take him with you, the more horse saddles you get in a single run the more likely to get a special one.
2.This strategy can be mirrored on any stage, you just need to know were the box that contains the saddle is.
3. Not 100% sure but I believe the best(if not only) way to get one of these special horses is to break open the saddle boxes located in each level.
4. If this just doesn't seem to be working for you consider putting it off for awhile and completing other objectives you may have in the game(reaching lvl 50 with all officers, clearing all officers musou campaigns, ect) you'll find them eventually, just dont forget to check your gathered saddles at the end of battles.
5.Good luck and happy hunting!compute

DO YOU HAVE TO DO IT WITH THE MUSOU CHARACTERS OR THE ENTIRE ROSTER?

May I suggest adding that you should put a second character in just they gain some experience(I know it's not much) but it speeds up getting all to 50

What the above poster said. If you have two controllers, leave one on standby while you lvl the other. The newbie officer will likely gain 5 levels per scenario.

My personal favorite level to farm is the Hei Fei castle. If you rush Sun Quan right away (on any difficulty, although I follow the 20 and up rule) and use a tome then kill him and as many of his bodyguards as possible before the traps go down you will get all three targets done and beat the level. My personal experience shows that each time you do this you go up an average of 2 levels (sometimes 3 and sometimes 1), however the kicker is that this can be accomplished in about a minute and a half. My personal best time for getting a character from level 20 to level 50 is with Yuan Shao and was done in a straight shot of 32 minutes

I've gotten a few horses with all stats over 485, without them turning into Kings. So there must be something else to it than that.

Battle of He Fei Castle, Wei Forces is the best move from what I can tell. Start out playing both controllers, guide the 2nd controller up to the top of the wall taking a right then another right. Main controller for killing Sun Quan.

Just picked this game up again after like 8 years, little me left just this grind to do in this game. Getting a lot of quality Netflix time in.

SAVUR X is correct, but just to give an agreement:

The 2nd controller IS the MAIN key, but make sure it's near you, because an officer or troops can sneak around to get him/her. Then all you have to do is move them into a base where there's a good amount of other troops/officers around to protect them. I had that happen to me acouple times & lost the whole level.. lol

Also, the other key factor is what levels you play on, so make sure you don't just stay on EASY all the time, Change it as soon as you think you ready for a harder one with what ever character you're working on.

Thanks again

First off if you are actually going for this achievement I feel and understand your pain. Most of the characters are awful to play as, the renbu system of attacking is really lame, and half of the characters have similar weapons and the exact same attack combos as at least one other character if not 3 or 4.

Anyways there are a total of 41 characters that you must get to level 50 (or 99,999exp. each) for this achievement. 41x99,999exp. for a total of 4,099,959exp. across all characters.

Before I get into all of the juicy parts, let me first try to piont out a couple of things that I have taken advantage of that have helped me to level up my characters more effectively.
***First off USE A SECOND CONTROLLER. I can't stress enough how much this has helped in leveling up the awful characters that I never want to use. You will want to go for the targets in each level while doing this as it will be the bulk of the exp. earned by your second character. All you have to do is start up a second controller pick a character and set the controller down for the entire level and use your first controller to beat the entire level. This was not getting me the most exp. ever (around 2k to 3k per level), but you don't even have to use the second character which makes it a very effective strategy to get your weak characters leveled up quicker, and able to get the all important 1 tome for every 300 kills skill faster. This also keeps you from having to start every character from level 1 as compared to being able to use them around level 20 to 30 which if you have played this enough is a major difference. You are also able to take on levels at a higher difficulty getting you the bonuses to exp. for higher difficulties. On some levels of course you will have to move the second character to a safe spot, but it beats having to play as him/her later on if you really don't want to.
***Another tip would be to use a horse with the renbu gait ability to keep your renbu chains active as long as you are on the horse. ***Use a weapon with either the flash or air wave abilities if not both is always a plus.
***My last tip would be to look at the characters tome abilities. Some of these are very useful in gaining large chunks of exp. at one time while others not so much. I would say stick with characters with the "volley" and "swift attack" tome abilities as I found these to be the more useful abilities. The "true speed" and "fire" abilities can be useful at certain points as well, but are not nearly as useful as "volley" and "swift attack". The last ability "rockfall" I would suggest you try to stay clear of all together as it is not really useful in any way. (Characters with the "rockfall" ability were my main focus in leveling using a second controller.) If you put your second character on a good horse as well you can keep him/her close and pick up all of the exp. pouches dropped when you use your tome ability with your first character if you get to a spot with a lot of officers. <<--(good exp. for crappy characters.)

Onto the juicy stuff-
My Settings were as follows
LEVEL: Conquest of Wu
DIFFICULTY: Hard for lv.20 to 40 characters Master for lv.41 and up
This was a good level for me because:
1.) The targets are pretty easy to get just playing through the level each time, which will be the main chunk of your second characters exp. for the level.
2.) You will not have to move your second character at all throughout the level if you don't want to
3.) This is a pretty quick and easy level, about 5 to 10 minutes, with a large amount of officers to get your exp. from.

So pick your second character, horse(s), and weapon(s) and start up the level. Most characters will start out in the bottom right corner of the level, but a few that are already in the level will start in different places. This will not make a big difference just take about 10 to 30 seconds longer to get to where you have to be.

Now that that is out of the way onto the level. Wherever you start hit the start button and go to battleground. Look for enemy officer Xue Li, he will be your start point. Quickly go and take out Xue Li and Ou Xing who is a little west of him. Keep going west and cross a small bridge to take out Chen Heng, then head back across the bridge east towards Mo Ling Castle. Once inside Mo Ling Castle defeat Yan Yu and Yan Baihu and get your kill count up to 300 for a tome. Also kill the guard captain for a chance at another tome. Around this time you should have a message pop up saying that Yuan Shu is on his way with his forces, good news for you bad news for him. Head out of Mo Ling Castle north up the side of the water and wait at the northeastern most point of the water in about 30 seconds Yuan Shu will show up with 12 other officers. Ji Ling should spawn right in front of you. You will want to run next to him and all of the other officers by him and lead them towards the North Camp. Don't worry about having Chen Ji, Yue Jiu or Liu Xun follow you as you will be dealing with them in a minute. Once inside the North Camp the fun starts, remember that tome you got for your 300 kills, well now you get to have your fun with it. Use the tome to clear out all officers (10 total) and opposing forces in the base, and at the same time you should get your second and third targets for the level finished getting both of your characters another 1200 exp. each. Now head east and finish off Chen Ji, Yue Jiu and Liu Xun. After you are done with them head for Niuzhu Castle East Fort and finish off all officers in the area, then go to Niuzhu Castle and do the same. Lastly head up to Xin Di Castle to finish off the remaining officers to finish the level. As long as you kept Sun Quan and Zhou Tai from withdrawing, which is not too hard to do, you will also complete target one as you finish the level. At the end of this level I was averaging 8,500 to 11,000 exp. with my first character, and 2k to 3k with my second character. Now just go through your exp., level your characters, pick your horses and weapons, and rinse and repeat this level until you are the proud owner of a shiny new 50G achievement.

Also if you want to during this level, if your second character is on a horse, when you are waiting for Yuan Shu to show up with his forces have your character meet up with your first character right before you round up all the officers in the North Camp. Once you use your tome to defeat all of the officers have your second character come in and pick up all of the exp. pouches lying around to help level him/her up even faster. I used this method for the characters that I did not want to have to use later on with a first player character with the "volley" ability to try to get them more exp.

In the end this achievement will still take some time to do, but I hope this will help ease the pain of having to do this achievement for everyone if only a little. Enjoy!

If you are not a hardcore completionist, I recommend stopping at 950gs. In fact, if you are a hardcore completionist I would almost suggest skipping this game entirely. I really love DW, I really love playing it, but I know that if DW wasn't a kind of game I truly enjoyed I would not even attempt this achievement.

It is not a difficult achievement, it is a time consuming one. Allow me to break it down. There are 41 characters, who need a total of 2009 levels gained for this achievement. Let's assume, that doing the other 950 achievement points you got 4 characters to level 50 and 20 characters to level 20, which knocks 576 off the total needed. This leaves 1433 levels to gain. Let's assume you're using two controllers. Let's assume an average of two levels gained, per character, per scenario. Let's say you can complete a scenario (Loading screens, prep, fighting) every 5 minutes. 12 scenarios an hour, makes 48 levels an hour. Doing the math, this leaves you at just under 30 hours of grinding levels at absolute maximum efficiency. Doing 360 Castle He Fei speed runs in a row is not something one will likely be able to manage without severe psychological trauma.

Keep in mind this figure does not include time spent farming horses or weapons, which will take longer. Any of your characters you're playing who do NOT have good weapons or horses will invariably increase the time needed to complete this achievement. Also note that from what I've gathered getting 4 characters to 50 and 20 characters to 20 is a GENEROUS assumption during the process of getting to 950gs. I would assume that the other 950gs could be done with as little as one character at level 50 and 16 other characters at level 15 or so.

Please see the Experience, Weapons, Horses, and Chaos Mode FAQ for more information on getting this achievement done as quickly as possible.

This achievement can be earned playing in Free Mode. You must play all 45 scenarios, which is each side of each map amd finish it on Chaos difficulty. It does not matter what character you use. You do not have to finish any level Targets for this achievement.

Playing on Chaos mode in DW6 is not so much a test of skill as it is a test of patience. The quickest, best advice I can give is to use a character that is powerful against enemy generals using a weapon with FLASH on it. Also, a horse with near or max stats with Musou Spirit on it is a huge plus. I will be writing a small companion guide to go along with this achivement guide that covers, among other things, how to get through chaos mode with minimum aggrivation.
