In order to rescue an officer, during combat you will have pop up logs of certain officers struggling in battle.
Therefore, if you go to the officer that was struggling and, they have yellow health bar, so as you get close enough will heal the officer and they will thank you for the help.
Make sure you know where the officer is. For example, they will be in zone A if there are 3 battles going on the battlefield. Also I notice there is like a broken rock icon on the map that shows the officer that is in need of help as well.

When one of your officers is in trouble, during a battle, a message will pop up onscreen asking that you go and help them. They will be represented with a marker on the map. If you head to their position and get close to them, and their health is running low, you will heal them when in proximity, and they will thank you.
Do this fifty times, and the A Helping Hand achievement will then unlock.
