How to unlock the What an Upset achievement in EA SPORTS College Football 25 - Definitive Guide

In College Football Playoff Mode, you have to beat another player as a lower ranked tier. The other player will be human, so it all depends on skill level here. I was able to beat someone who played as Oregon Ducks, while playing as the Buffalo Bulls.

If it can only be done in PvP, why is this achievement tagged as online/offline?
Also, is it boostable?

I just wanted to make a note that if you're attempting this and the higher tiered opponent quits you will still get the achievement. I got this today 7/27/24 due to that.

I found this much easier to accomplish by using Texas Tech which is tier 3. Then when you select a matchup search in Road to Playoffs, have it search for Tier 2 teams only. Texas Tech is as good or better rating-wise as many of the Tier 2 teams, so you have a fighting chance evn if you're bot a great player...like I am.

The offense is also fairly balanced, so don't be afraid to mix in pass, run and RPO plays. I found Jet sweeps and fake Jet Sweeps particularly effective on offense. And Nickel double mug confuses a lot of players.

Using Tech also helped me earn the Moving on Up cheevo.

Good luck and have fun!

This worked perfectly for me! Also, it will unlock even if your opponent quits mid game lol.

This can only be unlocked in the online Road to the College Football Playoff mode.

The 134 schools in the game are separated into 3 tiers. At the team select screen you can sort the team by tiers by holding l2.png and selecting the tier. Then when you search for an opponent you can specify which tier team you want to face.

For this trophy you'll need to play as Tier 3 team and beat a Tier 1 or Tier 2 team or play as a Tier 2 team and beat a Tier 1 team. Your smartest route is to play as one of the higher rated Tier 2 teams like the Miami Hurricanes or the Penn State Nittany Lions for example.

**BOOSTING POSSIBLE**
You could attempt to boost this trophy with someone too, though it's not a guarantee. If you plan to try this, have your boosting partner play as a Tier 1 team and search for a Tier 3 team and you do the opposite and you might get matched up together. You can also turn off crossplay if your boosting partner is on the same system. If you're playing with a boosting partner you don't have to complete the game; the losing team can concede by hitting pause and exiting the game.

You can boost this just like you would the "Moving On Up" achievement. First, you'll want to turn off cross play on your Xbox settings so you don't match with PS5 players. Do that by going to settings on Xbox, Account, Privacy & Online Safety, Xbox Privacy, View details and customize, Communication and multiplayer, and the second option should be "You can join cross-network play" and you switch that to Block.

One you do that it will make finding people you boost with much easier.

To get the achievement, For example, my boosting group had 3 people in it. One of us picked a tier 1 school (such as Notre Dame), and the other 2 picked a tier 3 school (Such as Akron or Wyoming). The tier 1 school with set their search for "tier 3 schools" and the tier 3 schools will set their search for "tier 1 schools", that way you can match up. So one of us that were tier 3 schools ended up matching up with the group member who was the tier 1 school. After we matched, the tier 1 school player would quit out AFTER the kickoff (has to be done after kickoff to count) and then the achievement popped for the tier 3 player who match with them.

So if you don't feel like doing this legit (totally understandable cuz online play is infuriating), get a group of at least 3 together and use the above method to match up with each other and knock this achievement out!
