How to unlock the Complete Fighter achievement in EA SPORTS MMA - Definitive Guide

In Career mode, you will be able to choose to travel to various gyms at the first week of every 8 week training period.

Each gyms have 4 moves to learn, you need to learn 16 to get this achievement. You have 40 fights in the Career, so you can get moves at any rate, it's worth learning all 16 as soon as possible though so you can use them in the later fights.

If you are a submission fighter learn some good submissions (Kimura, Arm Bar, Gogoplata, Omaplata, Climbing Armbar) and ground moves (such as Rubber Guard and the Major Pass). Also takedowns are useful like the Open Guard Takedown.

If you are a stand up fighter obviously learn strikes, and take down counters to keep the fight standing. Go to the boxing gym in liverpool or the Muay Thai gym in Bangkok to train your standing skills as well as learn some moves.

I can only learn one special move between fights. Then after I complete a fight I have to spend the money to travel to the same gym to learn the other special moves there. Is that correct?

All together there are 28 special moves, you only need 16 special moves to get the achievement. Below is a list of the 19 special moves that are the easiest to unlock:

(Location/Special Move)

  • Xtreme Couture/Darce Choke
  • Xtreme Couture/Major Pass
  • International Jiu Jitsu/Armbar
  • International Jiu Jitsu/Catch Punch
  • International Jiu Jitsu/Submission Chaining
  • International Jiu Jitsu/Triangle Choke
  • Miletich Fighting Systems/Dashing Takedwon
  • Miletich Fighting Systems/Spinning Kick
  • Miletich Fighting Systems/Takedown Fake
  • Inferno International Gym/Open Guard Takedown
  • Inferno International Gym/Gogoplata
  • Eight Venoms/Flying Knee
  • Eight Venoms/Spinning Backfist
  • Eight Venoms/Superman Punch
  • Eight Venoms/Teep Kick
  • Ballistic Boxing/Catch Kick
  • Ballistic Boxing/Overhand Punch
  • Ballistic Boxing/Guillotine Takedown
  • Ballistic Boxing/Takedown Counter Stike

The achievement says max out, but by that it means fill up all 16 special move slots. You fill up your special move slots by collecting at least 16 different special moves.

You have to complete certain challenges at different gyms to unlock the special moves. Once you have unlocked the special moves you don't have to do any kind of leveling up or training. Some examples of challenges you may have to do are things like knock out your opponent in 1 minute or don't let your opponent hit you for 30 seconds.

Because you only need 16 out of the 28 available, you can skip any of the ones you are having trouble with.
