How to unlock the The Impossible achievement in EA SPORTS MMA - Definitive Guide
The best way I found to defeat Fedor on Legend is to use Fedor and just come out swinging.
The guides here call for a controlled attack because they want to ensure a victory and wear down his stamina. It works, but you have to be very efficient. Thus getting frustrated and quitting.
Here's the game plan. As soon as he starts running at you, just throw hooks, as you start to do this, he will too. It might not work the very first time, but keep at it and you will catch him mid swing with a perfect counter punch.
Again, Just trade punches with him, if he starts hitting you in bunches, just back up regain composure and try again, look for his punching motion and try to counter with short jabs, then as you get your timing down, start uppercuts and hooks. It will work sooner than later. and you won't have wasted 17 minutes in one match just to try it all over again.

Worked a treat, knocked him out with one punch, missed the first 2 jabs, then boom he went down from a right hook, 4 punches thrown only 1 connected and the KO acheive at the same time.

I didn't even try with Fedor but classic Andrei Arlovski. I'm not sure if was because of the update or not but after a few attempts I was able to TKO him by throwing punches and not attempting to go to the ground. I ended up timing a punch to the head just right and it brought him down so I could finish him. I know it was mostly luck but I just thought it was a different approach.

I tried the other guides and got close, but couldn't finish him off. What ultimately worked for me was picking Vale Tudo rules, and Fedor for my fighter. I backed up into the cage, and just blocked his shots when I got clinched. Ultimately, the game will go to the ground. Do nothing but hit "B" for defending against the CPU's attempts to pass. When the CPU's stamina runs out, increase your position with a minor pass. Rinse and repeat until you are in a Full Guard or a dominant top position. From that position, continue using the strategy of blocking his passes to drop his stamina. Immediately after denying the pass that drops his stamina to zero, go for an arm submission. If you continue this method over and over, the CPU's overall available stamina will go well beneath yours, and you should be able to submit without too much of a problem. I won in about 10 minutes using this method.
I just got this within the first 30 seconds of the match.
- Choose Overeem because he has the closest stats to Fedor
- When Fedor comes running out of the corner dash up or down and throw a counter body kick
- If you get the timing just right you will stun Fedor and all you have to do is throw a couple punches to his face until he drops and go in for the kill
- If you dont stun him on that first shot keep dashing away and counter throwing body kicks...he should get stunned after a couple kicks
It took a while to get my timing right but its the quickest way to end the fight with the win

This is intended to accompany CoMANdo DOOM's solution above and it's going to focus on the ground work of the game. I as well picked Fedor for this achievement and I mainly focused on wearing him down on the ground. For the fight pick Vale Tudo rules (the ground attacks you can change out is up to you) because the round is 20 minutes long, so if all goes according to plan you will either win by judge's pick should time run out or your standard TKO, KO, and submission.
What worked for me was just doing whatever work you can standing, if you can manage to get a few good punches in to stun him and send him to the ground by all means do it. Should you get taken down or whatever be patient and just work on a specific body part, preferably the head to make things easier down the line. Don't overdo your punches and waste your stamina, this is key to the fight. Whenever he tries to change his position you counter it by pressing b one time when you see the animation for the attempt. When you do this you keep your stamina and he will not only waste his, but he will also chip away at his overall stamina. If you want to try and change positions for your benefit wait until his stamina is completely empty, while it doesn't always work you are more likely to have a successful position change. Though be warned he does seem to try and move himself more often when he has the advantage rather than you.
Try to keep the fight on the ground for as long as you can, all while working on getting him to waste his stamina and focusing on the head. Eventually if you do this right hopefully anywhere around the 10 to 3 minute mark you can make your move. Get off the ground and lay waste to his head. By this time he shouldn't be able to throw many punches and you can throw a couple good ones to knock him to the ground and punch your way to a TKO.
While time consuming this is a safer way to get the achievement, rather than trying to run in and lay waste to him. Good luck.

Before you start the match make sure you change the difficulty to Legend in the menu, now choose Emelianenko Fedor vs Emelianenko Fedor. He has a one punch knockout that works even in Legend difficulty which makes him a great fighter to get this done as quickly as possible. Work the head as quickly as you can, don't let the match get to the ground because you will lose very quickly.
If you keep losing the match then just keep rematching until you are successful.
This really isn't that hard. I picked Fedor for this achievement. Just use a controlled aggression with your stand-up and defend his takedowns when you can and you should get the eventual TKO or KO. Make sure, whatever you do, don't run your stamina bar down. Try to sway and counterstrike while mixing up your combinations from the head to the midsection. Apparently the computer can't defend very well when you do this
One other thing I've found very useful is leg kicks. Whenever Fedor goes to strike dash either up or down and throw a leg kick. After you wear down his legs he won't be able to move from the rest of your strikes very well at all. I got my achievement the very first time with a first round TKO. Good luck. :)

Use Josh Barnett and try to counter him early. Legit did it in 9 seconds during the first flurry, He hit me, I hit him with a uppercut when he went for the overhand, He went down, jumped on top and mashed the button til the ref called it.

We go to heavyweight, set the difficulty to the hardest, choose Randy Couture and put it against Fedor Emelianenko. Immediately after the start of the fight, we carry out a powerful combination of blows and finish off the enemy on the ground. Most likely, you will not get the achievement right away, since you can be knocked out in a standing position or if you were unable to finish off your opponent on the ground and they give you a painful one, but after a couple of fights, you will be lucky and you will win.
