How to unlock the The FIX is in achievement in EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR - Definitive Guide

This will be the very first achievement you can win in EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA Tour.

As you start you will be offered the chance to play a tutorial - this will give you the option to select your play style (Arcade, Classic, etc.) Once completed, or skipped if you feel comfortable diving right in, you then "become" Rory McIlroy in the final round of the US Open.

You will only play a handful of holes from the final round and they will still have a tutorial feel to them. Keep in contention coming down the Par 5 18th hole and it is an easy eagle opportunity (2 under par).

Play a driver to centre of fairway with a little extra power (tap cn_A as performing backswing) - second shot will be a fairway wood at the green (again tapping cn_A to get the extra power needed) and aim for the pin - third and hopefully final shot for eagle will be a putt, use your putt guide to aim and swing away for victory (as a guide I tend to aim 1 ft past hole for 1 inch uphill putt, 2 ft for 2 inch past, etc and reverse this for downhill putts but this is a rough guide for putt strength only!)

EDIT in response to Wildtreecko297's comment.

Yes, you can replay the scenario.

From the main menu screen select "Play" tab at top of screen ----- then "Prologue" (bottom left).

This will restart the tutorial, where you can skip directly to "Play Rory McIlroy's US Open" (vs Martin Kaymer).

A second chance to win the achievement.

Good luck and please comment if you feel I can improve this solution. smile

Thanks, I agree with AvengedAgainst, add the replay option to the end of your guide for others who may have missed it, +1 here as well

Actually it's not the first achievement in the game as you can skip it and come back to it.

He was saying its the first possible achievement in the game, toddycst, not the first one you will earn. Most people would do the tutorial as far as I know so the guide is based off the fact that they put the tutorial there before you get to the title screen

I've failed this three times now. Every time I repeat it I have to listen to the unskippable prologue chat. It's so annoying.

Have you switched to lowest difficulty?

How to do you change it to the lowest difficulty? I am about to throw my controller through the TV because of how everything is unskippable and the perfect performance you have to give.

Currently on try #5

got it on my second try and honestly I wasn't even that good. Could've made it with at least 2 hits less, with a bit of luck even less.
I agree though that the unskippable cutscenes make it quite tedious.

Agree with Lorne 117, might be worth adding to the guide it's worth concentrating to make sure you get it first time, so you don't have to sit through all the bullshit dialogue all over again!!

FYI, I got the "Pin Seeker" achievement first, as I hit the pin playing one of the holes for this.

So simple. There is no difficulty change. It's just pure simplicity. @Rmugabe1924 lmfao that's hilarious

In the opening game tutorial, the game will assist you with some shots as, it runs through the various controls for the game along with shot shaping and putting. As the tutorial heads towards its conclusion, the game will leave you to play the final three holes without assistance. During this time, you will be in a match situation with Martin Kaymer.

If you play well and, ensure on the three holes, you get a birdie, you should win. If, you have a disaster, this trophy will not unlock. You can however re-play the prologue from the menu screen again as required to unlock this trophy.

This is one of the first trophies you will get in the game. This will be obtained during the prologue of the game once you play it for the first time. Once you either play through the tutorial, or skip it entirely, the prologue will begin. You will have to beat Martin Kaymer in the U.S. Open; this is pretty simple as you only have to play certain shots at specific holes. For the most part the game will indicate where you need to aim and what club you should use. It’s not until the final two holes where you have free reign and won’t be pointed in the right direction by the game. If you manage to birdie one of the two last holes you will win and get the trophy. If you some how manage to lose the prologue, you can try it again from the main menu by selecting Prologue.

When the game first loads, you'll have a mini tutorial where one of the options is to play the U.S. Open as Rory. You'll need to win this to unlock the achievement. It doesn't matter how well you play until the final two holes. If you don't get it on the first try you can go to the "Play" menu to try again.
