How to unlock the Daddy WarBugs achievement in Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon - Definitive Guide

This is an expansion to "DarkVVind"'s solution

To expand on 2-1, the fastest I've done that level is 3:10 with a jet w/ pesticide for roughly 20k on inferno. Here's a summary. (It seems long and wordy, but once you try it a few times, it is easy.)

1. Go the right of where the tank will spawn. Wait for ants to spawn (Ops ends a sentence with "inbound"), then target the top gray trim of a brown building (right next to the white building on the corner.) That should take them all out.
2. Aim up/right for the carrier, shoot, and both should go down.
3. Jet toward lander, activate, activate.
4. Jet toward the next objective. Once you hit the river/ravine, turn around and snipe the the Hector.
5. Jet toward objective, ignoring everything in the way (they will hide once you get there).
6. Jump up on the "ledge"/ raised area behind the objective/crew. Turn around and look at the building that the ants are on. Snipe the top portion of building and that should get them all.
7. More will spawn behind that building you just blew up. Blow all of them up too.
8. Start jetting to the left, and once they are all gone, a mass will appear on the right. Zap them (either shoot an ant, or the white building on the left of the ants).
9. Then spiders should be popping up around you, go up the street at the gas station, toward the ravine.
10. Turn around, shoot a building to kill a wave a spiders.
11. There is another wave of spiders, take care of them.
12. A mess of spiders and a bomber-spider spawn. Snipe the wave on the left first while they are together, then get the bomber-spider.
13. Snipe the last spider wave.

Notes:
-AI is useless, so don't need them.
-My secondary weapon was the skillet just in case there was a straggler.
-It takes a while to figure out the blast radius; be patient.
-This is also good if you want to boost a secondary profile. They can live or die, and they are guaranteed 9720 xp. (In fact, I boosted 3 classes to level 7 while earning my money.)

Great technique, helped me immensely. The spawns don't always happen exactly right, so be prepared to improvise. I deviated from the above plan a bit:

8. Jump down from the ledge and stand by the bus at the T-junction just below the ledge to snipe the spider wave that appears to the right.
9. Turn left, snipe the building that looks like a church to kill one of the two spawns.
10. Turn back right and get some distance from the remaining spiders, turn around, fly up a bit and shoot toward the back of the group to kill them all without killing yourself.
11. There are probably a few stragglers. Speed across the river and take them out with missiles if they're too close.
12. From across the river, you should have enough distance to snipe both the spider spawn and the bomber spider. If you're lucky, you can get both with one shot. Wait until Intel says, "Bomber spider", I don't think it can be killed before that. Or, just snipe the spiders and kill the bomber with the next shot.
13. Snipe the last wave. Ignore the ticks, they'll just die anyway.

Occasionally at step 7 I'd have one or two ants spawn behind the buildings on the ledge. Just jump down and take them out with missiles after you take care of the big spawn, then everything else should go as normal. Also, sometimes at step 9, the spider spawns will appear one after the other rather than both at once. Just be prepared to deal with whatever happens.

I didn't time it on a clock, but from the first shot, your score ticks up constantly, so that seems like a good way to measure your speed. The quickest I ever reached the final waypoint was 4920 (you'll still get the full 20K for finishing).

Great summary. Using this method I've been able to get about 20k every 5-7 minutes, versus 15k every 15 minutes from 1-1. Definitely the fastest way to get points I've seen.

Awesome solution, I'm getting 20k in 4-5 minutes just doing 30 minutes of this mixed into the rubber banding of 1-1 really helps speed things along.

Amazing guide, I get 20K in 4 mins instead of 65,500K in 40, alot quicker then 1-1 I ground out 1.7 million points yesterday :) +1

I really appreciate you posting this method. I didn't feel like figuring out a "best place to grind" myself and as far as what I've found on various forums, this is the fastest method for actively boosting money.

This method made this achievement a lot less painful. Thanks!

I've been using a slightly modified version of this during local couch co-op with another friend trying to get these achievements. It works great - we can regularly finish the level in 3 minutes or less. One of us is always the Jet and we pretty much park ourselves on the building behind the initial spawn points and snipe everything while P2 spawns them and hits the objectives.

P2 as a Jet is pretty fast and triggering objectives - but we tend to like P2 being the Battle and just popping the shield up during genocide blasts for safety. It allows them to sit on the extraction point while the last wave is killed to trigger it faster.

The spawns can be somewhat random, but it's easy enough to improvise as it's all very similar. We're only about halfway there, and only play local couch co-op, so we've got a ways to go still.

Definitely seems like the best way to earn credits for active playing.. somewhere between 240k - 480k per hour, depending on how quick you are...

I would also personally recommend playing with a friend...

Got the level down to 3 minutes 5 seconds using this strategy. The toughest bit to figure out was step 9 - after you go up the stairs, shoot the white building ants, then shoot the next big ant spawn, immediately start heading left down the road, towards the gas station. Once at the gas station, then turn around and shoot the 3rd ant blob. This will cause spiders to spawn on top of you. Jet down towards the ravine, turn around, shoot the side of a building far from you where all the spiders are. Then start jetting away from the 2nd wave of spiders that spawned at the same time as the blob you just shot, until you have good distance, then shoot the building they're all close to. From here it's just picking everything off from a large distance and is very straightforward. That pathing, even though described in the guide, still took a bit to figure out. Hope the more detailed step by step of steps 9, 10, and 11 helps.

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere so I'll add a tip that helped me.

If you're doing the AFK method on level 1-1, start it on Remix Mode and check for metal ants spawning near the petrol station at the beginning of the turret sequence (if there aren't any, restart the level).

Doing this will ensure that metal ants spawn from the ant hills. They're worth more than regular ants so you'll rack up XP quicker.

Happy hunting! toast

It took me nine days of fairly heavy grinding to get this final achievement after already being at 49/50 achvs on this game.

After doing everything else in the game you'll still need roughly 5 million credits to buy every gun for all four armours. An average level will give you 25k for roughly ten minutes so you're looking at 200 runs.

My method was to pick a level I felt comfortable beating. Either 1-2 or 3-2 (with AI, they need healing all the way through the level but are useful at the end of each of those levels) were my choices as they have little in the way of air attackers. I always picked my Tier 8 battle armour and gave him the Pesticide Mortar and a homing rocket weapon.

My best piece of advice isn't that though. This achievement takes ages so to stop yourself going mad, break it down into sub-tasks. I started by clearing all the 250,000CR weapons first. Once that was done, I felt like I'd really dented the achievement.

Then do the 175,000s. Once I'd cleared the 97,500s I knew I had broken the back of this achievement. Carry on taking out everything in that fashion until the 37,500s are done. Then I just cleared out the remaining weapons of each type in each class.

It doesn't make it go any quicker but it does give you a structure to follow.

I agree with THE JRIDE, but I do it slightly differently. I pick the Battle Armour with the homing rockets (two volleys of two, with fast recharge) and go to stage 1-2. The last part is where you make the money.
Rubber band around both triggers so he has the shield up whilst firing the rockets. You need to manually go and destroy the first ant hill and move him to the final section with three anthills. Take out the first and run away immediately to safety where you can rubber band again to take out the ships and begin killing the constant stream of ants from both ant hills (the problem with having just one anthill is that there's a pause when it inevitably gets sealed - with two one is usually still open).
Remember there is a limit of around 65k per level, so finish the stage and go again.

I don't know what kind of dick heads would give this a negative vote but I was basically doing what you were doing start by getting the heavy hitters out of the way first.

I got this by putting a rubber band on the trigger with a heat seeking weapon equipped and grinding the levels and points. On level 1-1 I grinded the second ant hill until I got around 60K points, then beat the level to hit 65.5K. Even so, it took me a LONG time to do, but I find that grinding much easier than actually doing it. I did the expensive guns 1st and did the weapons 1 armor at a time.

Yeah, farming's okay but a bit slow and a bit dangerous as this game likes to freeze up sometimes.

I wonder what the two neg-voting cocksuckers didn't like about this guide?

High Roller & Daddy WarBugs Achievement Solution

Thanks to DarkVVind for filling out tier 6 and 7 for both Tactical and Trooper class's weaponry.

The amount of credits you earn is tied directly to your score (similar with experience). So, if you finish a level with a score of 21,000, you will also be 21K credits richer. There is a score cap of 65,500.

Cost for all purchasable weapons: 8,102,300
Battle: 2,063,100
Jet: 2,010,100
Tactical: 2,064,100
Trooper: 1,875,000

Trooper, being almost 200K cheaper than the other weapon sets, makes for a slightly quicker High Roller achievement get.

If you don't want to rubber band grind this, the best place I have found for points per minute is 2-1.

I have been able to use my trooper with pesticide and finish the level in around 7 minutes for about 20k points.

Still working towards this I have found that 2-4 "Hectored" is also very good points per minute.

With the Jet and Pesticide I could get 14k in about 4 minutes.

Here's a very easy method that I used to get this achievement.
1. Turn the bots off and put the difficulty on inferno.
2. Pick stage 2-5 the cube. I chose the cube because there's no dropships, hector mk2's or aerial enemies making it easy to blow through rather quickly.
3. Pick your battle class and equip it with the pesticide mortar, it doesn't matter what your other weapon is cause you won't be using it all that much.
4. Just kill all the enemies using the pesticide mortar and don't forget to use your battle classes shield to stop the blast radius from killing you.
5. By the end of 2-5 I ended up getting 32k for about 10 minutes work and usually only died when I didn't run from enemies while waiting for my mortar to reload.
6. Rinse and repeat the above steps till you get the points needed to buy all the weapons you have left up.

Oh and I used PeaceSquid's method for buying up the weapons but you buy them in whatever order you feel is best for you

If you feel this deserves a thumbs down then please leave a comment telling me why.

I didn't see anyone else post an idle boosting guide, so I thought I'd share mine.

Start the first level on Inferno difficulty with no bots. You will want to use the Jet class, and have the Goatstrike equipped. You can use other classes/weapons, they just need to be powerful homing weapons. I haven't tried the homing Shotguns, but I'm sure some of them work very well.

Now, play until you reach the second anthill. This is the spot you will want to farm. What I did is I would go back to the beginning of the level, but still be able to see about where the anthill is. You just want to make sure your missiles are reaching them.

Now slap that rubber band on your trigger, sit the controller down, and watch it go to work! The score caps at around 65,000, so check back in about an hour to finish the level. Make sure you don't die to the hector! You will lose your points if you do.

It's a slow method, but you can do it without having to grind out the game, and if you're on the last achievement like me, you're probably getting pretty burnt out on it -_-

Simply purchase all weapons for all armor classes. You earn money at the same rate as you earn xp. You can access your progress by going to "Extras" on the main menu and then "Stats." Your progression percentages are under "Weapons." To see what weapons you still need to purchase you'll have to enter the game and then check your armor classes prior to starting up the mission. Weapons with the biohazard symbol next to them do not need to be purchased. Those weapons come via weapon drops. See Scavenger for information on weapon drops. You're going to need approximately 2,000,000 for each armor class. It is a serious grind to get this much money. The best bet is to max out the armor class, obtain the pesticide gun and go nuts on Inferno difficulty.

Note that you must complete a level in order for the money to save, just like XP. If you fail the mission you'll lose the money you've obtained.

Also be aware that weapons cannot be bought until the Tier they are in is unlocked. There are up to 8 Tiers on each weapon type and each armor class. The Tiers unlock and correspond directly with the xp level of that armor class. For example: If your Trooper Class is at Level 3 xp then you will have access and will be able to purchase only up to Tier 3 weapons.

Money Credits Needed Total: 8,270,300

Totals for Each Class:

  • Trooper: 1,875,000
  • Tactical: 2,064,100
  • Battle: 2,038,500
  • Jet: 2,292,700

See the Weapon's List for details on each class etc.

See Lifer for a good xp/credit grind spot.

You'll earn money (CR) at the same rate as experience. Once you have all your armors at Tier 8, play Chapter 3, Mission 3 (The Package) with the Battle or Jet armor. Use the Pesticide gun, which you can survive at close range due to your shield on the Battle armor, or zip far enough away with the Jet armor, and blow through the level. You can get 140-160k XP/CR in about an hour doing this level repeatedly.

You can also leave the game running on the first level when the second ant hill surfaces. Rubber band your right trigger down and, using an auto-lock rocket launcher, run to the opposite end of the level then continually fire into the air to kill ants while you're away. The XP/CR caps at 65,500 in a level, so this is best done if you'll only be gone for 1-2 hours at a time, or if you can keep coming back to finish/reset the farming method.
