How to unlock the Konkylian Custodian achievement in Earthlock: Festival of Magic - Definitive Guide

This big guy is an optional boss located on the cliff north of the Tower of Dhur. Most of his attacks hit your whole party and deal between 2-3k damage with various elemental attacks.

I recommend being level 20 and stacking damage over time status ailments on him. Fire Trap and the Curse skill from Taika will take him down quickly. He has no counter attack that I am aware of, so throwing in additional damage with whatever you can, when you can, works as well.

Since almost all of his attacks hit your whole party, having the perk "Bonds of Battle" on each character will build your special gauges pretty quickly, allowing Gnar to usually keep you topped off with Regen S. Although you will still likely need to use potions when your special isn't up.

He is immune to bleed and I believe poison as well. He drops the Toxic Lance ++ recipe (among other things) needed to grow a plant for a different achievement.

Regen S is absolutely key here. You are continuously being taken down by 2-3k so each round you need it. Don't be fooled into using Heal S - it doesn't last long enough. One other thing, I think he is weak to electricity. Taika's Lightning spell did much more damage than any of her others.

Some tactics involved using Olia's Intervene S, but I found it easier to just go all out on him. Taika did nothing but keep curse on him, and Gnart used Whirlwind until he used his first AOE, then he started using Regen S as needed, and resting or using Healing Elixirs otherwise. Olia used Focusing Shout then she and Amon would just attack, then use Focusing Shout again in 2 turns. I wasn't using Amon's super abilities as I was saving the bar for Intervene S if Gnart ran out of points to use Regen S, but 'twas never needed.

I initially tried immediately using her Intervene S and having Taika use Elemental Absorb on Olia, but the Hollow Knight's AOE bypasses it.

All rank 20 when I went into the battle. Regen is useless in this battle. Every turn it would heal my guys around 1k but they would receive 2.5-3k damage plus whatever status effect damage the boss gave them. The only special that would keep me alive is heal and even then I'd get him down to 25% health and he would start spamming hire fire attack doing 3k+ a pop. Annoying boss.

Hey everyone, in this video I show how to prep up for beating the optional boss Hollow Knight to get this achievement.

First thing's first, you NEED to be level 20 with all bonds maxed! You'll need a full talent board to really attempt this boss. I would say use alot of Resistence talents instead of Armor. The boss only attack twice with Melee, and I was able to dodge both(which really helped as you can imagine). He does almost all AOE magic against you, and He only ever did Fire and Lightning. So have the two Masteries to negate some of that damage(Earth and Water I believe, but I could be wrong). I also did the Talent Immunity Chance to help with negation, and the 25% more HP. Now you want to have Ammo Mastery on Amon and Ive, with Energized on Takia and Gnat. I used these four for simple reasons: Amon and Ive have element shots which the boss can be hit with to tick down extra damage. Gnat is the best healer, and Takia was my power hitter, hitting for about 2500-3000 damage each time.

I also used ALOT of Healing Elixir +'s, mainly so everyone could be a backup healer. All you really need to do, is just make sure you can survive the next hit. If your below 2300, which is the high end damage I took for this fight, then heal. If only one of your people are in danger and you have 4 turns, have Gnat heal and the others hit the boss. You really need to keep chiping away at this boss, just because it's got so much HP. Hopefully the tips, and the video, help you out. Good luck!

This trophy is for defeating the Hollow Knight (AKA Magoc the Hollow in the Bestiary), which is the strongest Boss Fight in the game (able to deal 2000-3200 damage on average). He's actually another hidden boss and you have no choice but to defeat him if you're going for the Platinum Trophy. He has the "On the Brink" Perk Talent recipe which is only rewarded to you if you defeat him (see Great Wave Alumni ). Magoc the Hollow can be found just north of the Druha Tower. It's recommended that your party members are at the maxed level of 20 along with maxed out Bonds. Additionally, I recommend that you only fight this boss with the party of Amon, Olia, Gnart and Taika. This is one of the best-recommended party setups you can have. Make sure you have plenty of Healing Elixir + equipped to heal 3000 health to an ally. Keep an eye on the turns which are seen on the right side of the screen during battles. You need to know when the Hollow Knight's turn is coming up to make the right strategic moves. Last of all, only engage this Boss Fight with a fully charged out Battle Bond Meter, so you can use them during the battle.

List of Hollow Knight's Attacks:

  • Hammer Blow: Attacks one ally with a single blow of his sword.
  • Frozen Earth: Attacks all allies with frozen icicles that can inflict Frostbite.
  • Lightning Storm: Attacks all allies with storms of lightning that can inflict Electrocute.
  • Side Smash: Attacks all allies with a quick slash of his sword with a chance of inflicting Bleeding and causing Glance.

Boss Fight Strategy: Hollow Knight

Have Gnart in his Focus Stance at the start of the battle, cast Magic Focus to boost your Magic abilities by 20%, then have Taika use Curse to inflict status effects on the Hollow Knight. When it gets to Olia, have her use Intervene on Gnart. Intervene will transfer any damage applied to Gnart towards Olia instead. She will most likely get killed a lot while using this ability, but Gnart will always be alive and safe. Just revive her with resurrection items like Kiss of Lÿs. As for Amon, he's only here to inflict damage whenever he can. I recommend you have him in Ranged stance using moves like Fire Blast ++ or Water Blast ++ for status effect chances. On Gnart's turn again, you can use Attack Focus to boost Attack stats by 20%. Taika can use her magic abilities for extra damage or you can use her to rest for a recharged casting of Curse later on again. If it's Olia turn again, try casting Intervene on Taika and later use her to rest for recharging amri.

Whenever Olia gets killed, have Gnart revive her immediately. Amon can waste a few turns using Healing Elixir + on the weaken ally whose health is in need of 3000 healing. If you haven't done so already, turn Gnart back into his Mage stance or use his Mage S to cast Heal S which will restore everyone's heal back completely. Never use Taika's Predator S since she's paired with Gnart during this fight, rest or heal with items if unable to cast Curse. Olia should be recasting Intervene on Gnart whenever possible. If you have her Bond ready, you can technically use it to cast Intervene on the entire party members (Olia will automatically be killed but the rest of the party will be safe). Olia will auto attack Hollow Knight if he uses any physical attacks on her or the Intervened party members. This is a plus as any amount of damage will greatly help you out. Amon should be mixing it up with Burning Blast ++ or healing items as needed. If you keep this up, rinse and repeat the chipping away with status effects, using healing & resurrection items, the Hollow Knight will be defeated and the trophy will unlock. It should also be noted, that you'll get the ammo recipes for Toxic Lance ++ and Spud Blast ++. Toxic Lance ++ is very useful against the Final Boss Fight of the game (see Owls of the Nest ).

The Hollow Knight is an optional boss found on the world map, just north of Druha Tower. I'm not sure exactly when it spawns as I never looked up that way when I first visited this location (it's probably always there), but there's no point trying to fight this boss before Level 20 anyway.

The main attacks used by this boss are all AOE elemental attacks that will hit the entire party for 2-3k each. Considering your health at Level 20 is only between 4-5k, this is not a good thing. The best way I found to tackle this boss was using Olia's super version of the Intervene skill. This will have her absorb all the damage the entire party receives onto herself. So while this will kill her in one shot, it will leave the other three at full health. Use your next move to bring her back (either use a consumable or Gnart's spell if his turn was next), and because her paired partner is still alive she will go right back into her Super stance. Use her Intervene skill again.

While she is sacrificing herself for the party, you should be laying out as many DOTs as possible. Stack up a bunch of Fire Traps with Ive and use Amon's ranged ++ attacks as well (normally I'd suggest Gouge, but bleed doesn't work). Gnart should use his super after the third AOE attack (Olia will only be able to absorb two of them), and heal the party back to full health. His Heal uses three of the five super pips, so you could either use the other two for a Regen, or if he is paired with Ive you can use two of her super traps (I did this when I killed him).

The only other thing you can do to prepare for this fight is maybe switch out as many nodes in the Talent Boards as you can to include the Resilience card, which boosts magic defense, and craft extra Perks similar to the final boss strategy in the Road Map for extra elemental protection. This will lower his AOE damage and allow you to survive a bit longer. You should also be using any of the +3000HP health items you have during this fight, and enter the fight with both pairs of characters at full health and Super meter.
