How to unlock the Lango Plantmaster achievement in Earthlock: Festival of Magic - Definitive Guide

There are 8 different types of plants; Aqua Weed, Fire Tongue, Lysrose, Poison Lily, Rock Spud, Snow Grass, Spark Bloom, and Tooth Cactus. Each plant has a minor, regular, and magnum tier totaling to 24 plants in the game. Each plant can be be leveled up twice in order to get them to level three. The level of the plant is displayed in the bottom right next to the plant name with three leaves, and however many of them are green is the plants level. Additionally, level one plants yield three fruit per harvest, level two yield six per harvest, and level three yield 10 per harvest.

You'll acquire the seeds for the minor tier throughout the game as you progress. In order to get the higher tiers you will first need to get the minor plant to level three. To level up a plant you simply just need to keep harvesting them, and after so many harvests it will level up. After that, if you haven't already you will need to find a recipe that requires ingredients from the higher tier. Once both of those have been done when you harvest from the plant it will pop up saying "mutated" and you will have the seed for the next tier. For example, you can't get the Poison Lily Magnum seed from the Poison Lily until you defeat Magoc the Hollow and get the Toxic Lance ++ recipe from him even if your Poison Lily has been level three for ages.

That's essentially all there is to it, the only challenge to it is finding recipes so you can get the higher tier seeds. Another thing I'd like to mention though is that although there are 24 plants there are only 22 places to plant seeds in the farm. You will have to uproot a plant in order to make room for whatever two you may have left. This does not mess up the achievement, it's the only way to plant the final two. I'm sure it's obvious, but just uproot two of the minor plants. They should be level three by this point, and the items you can craft with their fruit will be pretty useless compared to higher tiers so it won't matter at all.

Man, I cannot for the life of me get the last three plants to unlock. Been harvesting for an hour at level 3 and they just won't appear.

I have the recipes waiting, and the only story progress I can make from this point is to fight the final boss. Not sure what else I should do.

@Sakori: Yeah, as long as you have the corresponding recipes the plants will mutate eventually :)
There is still a fixed amount of harvests you have to do after getting the plant to level three so don't worry ^^ And congrats to finally getting them unlocked :D

As far as I can tell you can leave the plants alone for as long as you like, none of mine have died or anything. What recipe do I need for the Lysrose Magnum? I'm guessing it's something like a Healing Elixir + potion, but I'm not sure where I could have missed it. My next story progress is the final boss, any tips?

Never mind, found the recipe I needed, it was a Healing Elixir + in the Anvirum Caverns, wandered around for a while and found it in a chest surrounded by Kuda.

Does anyone know where to get recipes for the cactus magnum is? Lance ++ most likely, cant seem to find it
Edit: i have fire lance ++ which requires tough lance but the cactus wont seem to mutate
Poison and snow minor wont mutate either even though i have recipes requiring the next level ingredient

Edit 2: ok so after thinking for a minute i realizex i hadnt tried equipping those abilities to my main moves, and the plants mutated literally as soon as i picked them after doing this...

Does anyone know where to find the electric blast ++ and water blast ++ recipes? They're the last two mutated seeds I need but without the recipes they don't mutate.

Dann Lily glitched for me too. Have two of the mid tier plants and the toxic lance++ recipe but no joy. Every other one unlocked right away. Looks like a restart just for this achievement. URGH.

And then it unlocks on the first collection after starting again today. Typical. (I actually ended up with two of them, as both level tier plants mutated!).

If anyone else is having bother try and good old "off and on again" if that fails then uproot the plants, replant, get the level 3 and try the same. (This is what worked for me).

My lysrose, poison lily and drench plant didnt give me the magnum seeds when i reached lv3, even though i had every recipe. i just kept collecting them and eventually i got the magnum seeds randomly. I also have 2 tooth cactus magnum plants so maybe the game gives you extra seeds if you farm the plant enough.

I can also confirm problems harvesting the Poison Lily Magnum. I already beat the game, have all the recipes; I’ve uprooted and replanted the Poison Lily 4 times now but no luck :\

I know the game is old but I figured I'd throw in what worked for me to fix the issue with the poison lily not mutating to magnum.

Quitting the game, having the ability equipped, repeatedly harvesting, nothing would make it mutate. Then when I was looking in my inventory I noticed I had a single toxic lance++. Must have picked it up along with the recipe or something, who knows. I went out, found a random fight and made sure to have Ive in the party and used the toxic lance++, leaving me with none in my inventory. Went back to the island and the plant mutated into magnum on the first try.

Note: If you play with the physical copies un-patched and kill 50 Ghost for the Spiritualist of the Sands trophy, you will not get that trophy as this trophy unlocks instead. Now is this a good thing or a bad thing? Some people question if this glitch will save you time or not. In my honest opinion, it will not save you time. Sure this trophy will be the last garden trophy you'll unlock, however, the difference in time required to fill the garden and fully leveling up every type of plant is relatively the same amount of time. Unlocking Diligent Hogbunny and then finishing the last two plants for this trophy to unlock is roughly less than 2 hours of a difference.

This is the most time-consuming trophy in the game as you need to fully level up every type of plant. As mentioned in the Gardener of Lango trophy, there's a random chance you'll get a seed. This seed is actually the next upgrade version of that plant. You'll want to keep harvesting plants until you get all of their seeds at least once. Once you do have a seed, you need to plant it and level it to level 3. Keep on repeating the harvesting process until a seed is given to you from it. I highly recommend that you farm plants once you get them and upgrade them to level 3 before leaving the Plumpet Island. This will greatly reduce grinding if you do it early.

Below is a list of all eight types of plants in the game:

  1. Rock Spud Minor - Story related, cannot be missed
  2. Lÿsrose Minor - Story related, cannot be missed
  3. Fire Tongue Minor - Story related, cannot be missed
  4. Aqua Weed Minor - Story related, cannot be missed
  5. Tooth Cactus Minor - Story related, cannot be missed
  6. Spark Bloom Minor - Found in a chest after rescuing Taika (see A Stormdog's bond )
  7. Snow Grass Minor - Story related, cannot be missed
  8. Poision Lilly Minor - Found in a chest after defeating the Mushriga (see Custodian of Scrollroads. )

It should be noted that you will end up filling the entire garden (see Diligent Hogbunny ), however, you need to unroot 2 Minor plants because the garden doesn't have enough room for the final two seeds that you need to plant. I recommend uprooting these two:

  • Lÿsrose Minor
  • Rock Spud Minor

Once you have all plants fully leveled up. The trophy will unlock once you have these versions at level 3:

  1. Rock Spud Magnum
  2. Lyrose Magnum
  3. Fire Tongue Magnum
  4. Aqua Weed Magnum
  5. Tooth Cactus Magnum
  6. Spark Bloom Magnum
  7. Snow Grass Magnum
  8. Poison Lily Magnum

The above plants are the final upgrade versions of all types of plants and they can be used to craft the strongest ammo and items in the game. Furthermore, you can't get plants to mutate until you have a recipe that requires the said plant.

To level up a plant, you'll need to harvest it often. I'm not sure on the exact number of times it takes for each level increase, but if you pick the plants a few times each visit to Plumpet Island, you should get each of them maxed out before you get all the other achievements. If not, simply stand in your garden and pick them over and over for a while. You get more ingredients from higher level plants, so maxing them out earlier in the game may be beneficial if you want to spend the time.

There are eight types of plants in the game, as follows:

  • Spud - Story related
  • Revival - Story related
  • Fire - Story related
  • Aqua - Story related
  • Cactus - Story related
  • Shock - In a chest next to the Quadragon boss (Taika rescue)
  • Snow - Story related
  • Poison - In a chest next to the Mushriga boss

Once you fully level the basic version of a plant, you will see a notification that it has mutated, and a new seed type will be added to your inventory. Plant this new seed in a new slot and continue to level it the same way you did before. There will be a third mutation for the final version of each plant. Once you level up the third version of each plant, the achievement will unlock. Note that you do not have to keep the basic versions planted to unlock the achievement, and in fact you'll be forced to uproot at least two of them since there are only 22 seed spots, but 24 total plants. You only need the third-tier plants in the ground and and fully leveled to unlock the achievement.

NOTE: It has been found that you actually need a recipe that involves the plant type to get the next level of seed. The one most people seem to hit this issue with is the third tier of the poison plant. Make sure you do the "Konkylian Custodian" achievement to get the Toxic Lance++ recipe. Once you have that, the plant will mutate properly. But again, every plant requires this process. Find the "+" version to get the first mutation and the "++" version for the second mutation.
