How to unlock the Owls of the Nest achievement in Earthlock: Festival of Magic - Definitive Guide

The last boss can be quite troublesome... I recommend having everyone in your party level 20 and 30 or more Healing Elixer+ on hand. Group I used was Olia + Gnart and Amon + Ive. You will want all of them to have the perk "And Back Again" (1 free auto-revive per battle).

When you first step into the dream world, be wary of the water. There are enemies lurking within it. When you are on raised debris they will stop chasing you, you can use this to try and break up the groups into smaller sizes. The number of enemies vs you in a battle is capped at 8, but the rest will be waiting when you finish. You will also want to move along the right path and work your way up to the top.

Now that you have made it to the final boss, be ready for a very long drawn out fight... The plan is to stack as much bleed, fire and poison damage as you can. Which can be quite daunting during certain phases of the fight.

Olia will be using "Blood Shout" anytime it is not up.

Gnart should start with "Attack Focus" then switch to healing only on his next turn. This should get you a quick chunk of health off the boss.

Ive will alternate with "Poison Trap" then "Fire Trap" only if the boss does not have reflect on.

Amon is where most of your damage comes from with "Gouge" causing multiple stacks of bleed damage.

Boss Tactics

First couple of hits are free for you, so get those debuffs and traps on ASAP. Soon the Boss will raise his arms to block his chest, which will also cast reflect (physical attacks only here). Amom should be using "Gouge" if able, otherwise "Stab". Ive should toss out potions since her traps will bounce back. Olia should make sure "Blood Shout" is up, if so use "Slashing Strike". Gnart can throw a haste on Amon, but should focus on healing. The boss should be spitting out fire and poison attacks.

Next the boss will stand back a bit with arms raised. You can not hurt him here. Heal anyone that needs or recover amri if able. He will start to summon shadow clones of your team, just like the ones on the way to him. Knock the healers out first! They will constantly buff and heal the boss, which is the number 1 thing you do not want. After there are 5 shadows summoned, he will devour them and gain more attack power. When all shadows are gone, he will release a huge attack. He will be vulnerable after this, but not for long.

Keep repeating this, and he should go down eventually.

This game has a high ratio. How long does it take just to beat it?

Joker, the game has a high ratio because it was released a week ago which means that the ratio first has to be balanced out ^^ And like Corrison said, the game takes about 30 hours to complete it :)
Ti rei, the memory chamber/dream world is the last portion of the final dungeon (Karba), so you will know eventually where it is :D

Thanks for the solution, bleeding procs are definitely the best option.

Also worth noting that for most paths before the boss fight, enemies only spawn on one side so if you see them and hug the opposite wall you can avoid them. Sometimes they are on both but I managed to sneak by the complete middle and they didn't get aggro'd.

On the time I finally beat the boss I got there with only fighting one group of enemies.

In his third phase, you can still hit him with ranged attacks and spells.

I found Taika with the It's a KO ability (from turning in ghost tags) was great for this battle. The shadow clones die pretty easily, and with a guaranteed crit on the next attack, his elemental attacks could kill another clone and damage the boss, creating a chain of crits. And Curse is great to stack the boss with damage over time abilities.

This achievement is missable. If you skip the end credits it does not unlock.

I just wanted to offer an alternate solution and mention the Stasis Chamber itself, as I had waaaay more trouble just getting the boss than actually fighting him.

For the Stasis Chamber, take it slow. Step into the water's edge and see what starts running to you. For the groups of 12 or so, either stick to one side of the path and move slowly, or try to lure out smaller groups of the enemies. You can actually cart them around and split them up fairly easily. The shadow enemies won't chase you if you're on the path, but they will sometimes wander onto it and if you touch them you will start the fight. What I did was follow the left path up as it seems to have the fewest long stretches of water, and the fights are more avoidable. Fighting one or two of the clones is easy if you get first strike, especially if you can stun or confuse them. Try to use the easy fights to build up your Bond before the final boss, so you can start the battle with supers.

Final Boss:
Recommended pairs and talents:
Ive and Gnart
Taika and Amon
Everyone should have: And Back Again, Bonds of Battle, Master Health, and Battle Medic. Immunity Chance and On the Brink are also great.
On Taika I also used It's a KO and Fire Master, as the pairing with Amon plus the Fire Master talent really give his Fire Breath a lot of power.

My strategy was similar to Corrison with one major difference. Instead of Olia, I used Taika. Taika is an absolute powerhouse if you spec his talent board for magic damage, And he has the added benefit of Curse, which does affect the final boss. I paired Ive and Gnart and Taika and Amon. I did this so that Gnart and Taika wouldn't have to share Super bars, and could use the whole super themselves. I dedicated Ive and Gnart to Healing the entire time, Takia started with Curse or Fire Breathe if the boss didn't have reflect up, and rested and healed if he did. Amon used Gouge the whole time essentially except when you couldn't be hit by melee attacks. I saved Taika's supers until the boss summons clones, which is extremely important. Taika's supers can easily kill the summons in one hit, and if you have the KO talent on, his next attack on the boss will be a critical. I was doing 9999 damage on a critical hit to the final boss.

Using this strategy I was able to beat the final boss without evening needing the auto res from And Back Again or using Elixir+ because I foolishly forgot to put them in my item slots...

Hope I helped anyone with this alternate strategy

PAT is the trick to the ending area! It is absolutely simple.

Just put PAT in your party and make sure he has Explode, and that every character has AND BACK AGAIN (one auto resurrection per battle) equipped. Also bring along a good collection of healing balms/elixers.

No matter how many shadow characters you fight, just use PAT's Explode and it will auto-kill just about everyone, including your group. But with auto-resurrect, your guys will come right back. If you fight a huge group there may be a shadow or two with a tiny bit of life left, but you should be able to mop them up easily. Repeat through the entire area, using a few elixirs here and there as needed. That's it, so quick and easy!

When you get close to the final boss (you'll see the light ahead of you) heal completely and adjust your party/stances to whatever strategy you want to use, though I used SaintSkye's above and it worked easily.

This works great, but you're missing a key element: Put a bunch of might perks on PAT. The game says that explode damage is determined by PAT's HP, but it also gets buffed by might.

Story related, cannot be missed.

Make your way to Ichabo while trying to avoid as many shadow clone figures that look like your party. If you do make contact with these shadow clones, you'll have no choice but to fight them as you cannot escape from the battles. Once you get to the end of where the greenish yellow light is at, a cutscene will trigger and you'll face the final Boss Fight of the game.

List of Valvur Ichabo's Attacks:

  • Weaken: Attacks one ally with a winged blade.
  • Eviscerate: Attacks all allies with its winged blades and has a chance of inflicting Bleeding and causing Glance.
  • Cocoon: Casts Reflect Shield on himself. All magic cast against him will be reflected back at the caster.
  • Burning Torment: Attacks the entire party with flares of fire that can inflict Burning on the party members.
  • Corruption: This does nothing, to be honest as it only ends the Cocoon ability. When this happens, you can once again use magic abilities against him.
  • Sacrifice: Sacrifice one of his shadow clones to restore his health and boost his abilities such as Magic Attacks.
  • Total Corruption: Attacks the entire party with a powerful magic attack. This attack is strong enough to deal about 3600-5200 worth of damage depending on your party members Magic Defense stats. Gnart and Taika should have high stats to withstand about 3600-4000. Amon and Ive will end up taking about 5000-5200 as their Magic Defense should be naturally lower compared to those two. If they die, quickly revive them using Kiss of Lÿs items.
  • Winged Blades: I have no idea what this really does, but the boss' body position will go lower as if he's preparing another powerful attack. I recommend you use Healing Elixir + to restore weaken allies' health.
  • Poisoned Torment: Attacks the entire party with flares of poison that can inflict Poison on the party members (if hit by this, have each member use a Prevent Poison item).

Boss Fight Strategy: Valvur Ichabo

I recommend a party of Amon, Gnart, Ive, and Taika. You want Amon to use Gouge for the Bleeding status effect and have Ive use Toxic Lances ++ for Poison status effect. Have Gnart focus on healing with Heal and casting Whirlwind when given the chances. Finally, have Taika focus on casting Curse for multi-status effects and resting to recharge them back for another casting. Curse will do roughly 2300-2400 worth a damage for 2 different turns. Sometimes you can use Taika for healing purposes such as having him use Healing Elixir + to heal 3000 health to an ally. When Valvur Ichabo uses the Cocoon ability, do not use any magic attacks but physical attacks are still okay to use. Have Amon keep using Gouge at all cost and resting if needed to recharge it. The other characters can focus on healing with items or use basic attacks until the Cocoon comes to an end. That is pretty much the entire battle, Amon is the key character, Taika's Curse useful when it's able to be cast, Ive poison helps with the damage over time, Gnart keeps everyone alive whenever he has his Bond ready for healing purposes. Eventually, the Valvur Ichabo will be defeated as long as you keep this up. It should be noted that sometimes a shadow clone figure(s) of the party will spawn. Simply kill these clones as they appear in the fight. I recommend having Taika use her Predator S into Quake S as this has a chance of Stunning the shadow clones and skipping their turns.

After Ichabo is finally defeated, you have beaten the entire game! Enjoy the ending and the cutscenes that follow as the trophy will unlock before the ending credits rolls.
