How to unlock the Earthworm Never Dies achievement in Earthworm Jim HD - Definitive Guide

I figured I would go ahead and finally upload the walkthrough video I did for this game a while ago. I'm not going to explain much here since my video has commentary and I believe explains everything pretty well.

Hope you enjoy and it helps you tackle this fun achivement! :)

Such a dumb achievement. A nearly impossible one. Good guide though.

Unfortunately, I was unable to get this achievement because I died once at Snot a Problem. However, I was able to tackle the speedrun in 46 minutes. A fantastic guide to say the least, an easy thumbs up from me.

I'd like to make a suggestion for the level "For Pete's Sake". Play the level a couple of times to memorise when the meteorites fall (the first two are on the long platform with the ammo, the third is on the almost U-shaped platform, and the fourth is just after the red orb that completely fills your health).

When you know you're near one, run as far ahead of Pete as you can, spawn the meteorites and then run back to the left. If you can get far enough back, they won't hit you at all, and if you can't they're really easy to take out from this distance. Do that for the first, second and fourth meteorite sections. For the third one, it is better to drop Pete in the pit.

Just a warning for anyone else trying this: the Restart Level option invalidates this achievement, but not Superhero. I used it once on the 1st part of Buttsville and didn't get this one but got the other.

Each of the levels have their own shortcuts:

Level one allows to use to toilet warp if you manage to swing on the moose head saving you time and giving you 7 plasma shots to destroy the trash can with. (This is within the first seconds of the game by the way) Make sure you save those when hes in his final form (rolling around on his wheels and shooting anvils) Take your time with killing the guy on the hook as well don't bother wasting plasma shots on him and whip the box before he just about gets over it.

Level two in hell there is a swing after going partway through the level you'll notice a hook under you allowing you to bypass most of the stage to get to the first green orb to run on bringing you up top. There is another hook further down the level after you reach the top of that shortcut that allows you to skip the snowman fight. Afterwords save your plasma shots for the large cats with muscles on the next level. (You can check youtube to find an explanation to these two hooks if you have any problems finding these. I know my explanation is kinda on the lean side.)

I'll mention Andy Asteroids real quick: don't lose. Told you it was quick.

Level 3 is the tube races these have no shortcuts to save you effort, be careful with each of the tube and if your going for speed, on the first level you can skip on the 30 second refills for the first level. The 99 second tube race is all you, jet your bubble from A to B without killing yourself.

Level 4 is "snot a problem" ROUND 1: READY? FIGHT!
Ok, piece of cake smash this guy into the wall, don't worry about the crocodile thing at the bottom it won't try to eat you this round as far as I know. Round 2 is when he will attack, be sure to lead snot against the wall before pile-driving him in there and moving away from the crocodile at the bottom.

Level 5 is Level 5. Take your time when moving through the first part and save your health from getting hit by the brains or those green squeezy blobs. When fighting the chicken on the last part before the falling scene, try to get him to land relatively close to the bomb dispenser and jump and whip the target 5 times before he can move, you will take damage to do this but it will probley save you more in the long run. When falling shoot and move.

Level 6: For Pete's sake this one is tough. whip the dog into the air and jump and whip to keep him moving quickly at a steady pace or to make him jump over several small gaps. Do this when you need to and a few practice runs of this level will get you finishing quickly and with minimal health loss. I use the control pad quickly alternating between forward and up to make sure everything is destroyed and avoiding damage.

Level 7 Intestinal: This is fairly simplistic the balls follow a set plot try to figure out where the best places to stop are and move from there save health for the boss because it will carry over to buttville, the bane of the game. The boss is easy wait for him to jump, shoot him in mid arm, as he jumps a second time after falling and not shooting any pus run underneath and repeat the process as he jumps again.

Level 8 Buttville. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA yea..... i hate it too. Best thing to do, is to take the paths where they split to: RIGHT / LEFT / RIGHT. In that order saving you from going through the hardest areas as well as the quickest route down. Hold the A button to keep your propeller head spinning. Once you finish take your time and try to land the one whip towards the end in one shot. After that whip and DON'T FIRE at both the queen's bosses (which means the butt end, where your stuck on a conveyor belt and the actual head of the queen) The back will spew damaging stuff on you if you shoot it, whipping it makes it do nothing except take the damage and to one shot the head all you have to do is whip her once. The actual head of her is a sinch and that will win you this achievement.
Good luck.

Late to the party but I will give my advice for the game! And perhaps make a video!

Some key advice for different spots!

First level:

When you do the first level! Early on before taking the shortcut after shooting the fridge. Go to the bottom right for an extra ammo. That one is worth taking! And also do the shortcut. Practice it if you struggle with the timing. Earlier than later for the whip hit on the hook. Many times I would miss because I try to land the hook too late. When taking the shortcut. get the ammo to the right and then go left to the boss.

The first boss! Just stand and shoot him with normal ammo and when he shift you change to the blast cannon and use all your ammo on him and he will die easily.

What the heck:

Take the shortcut shown in the videos! By using your whip downwards you will land in a place with a continue thing and also a life ball. Don´t take the life if you have 40 % life or more. But stay here instead of running to the left. There is a enemy that will throw a bomb here that will make a lot of spikes falling from the sky. It is good to be in this spot instead of the far left so you can take the life thing after getting hit one time. I believe one hit from the spikes deals 20 % damage. This way I always had at least 40 % when finally moving left and there is just one enemy to shoot going upwards and then after that you get a lot of life back and a lot of ammos as well.

Snot a problem = If you struggle with this here are some tips that will actually make this one easy if you ask me.

- Never use the dash attack! Because not doing that will give you so much more controll of what is going on and less risk of doing a huge misstake.

- When at the bottom press up to get a bounce up so you get away from the water quicker because of snot attacks you there you might get bounced into the wall and into the monster.

- When soon reaching the water be in the middle of the level and just before you will almost be pretty close to reach the bottom you steer left or right so the monster will attack away from you. If you go downwards on the far left or right the monster might be there and leaving you a tougher time to escape if snot attack.

- When he start spinning press up, down, up, down and so on and continue to do so because snot will not attack you then. He might hit you but not often!

- Also when going up from the water and you are above snot! Try to lure him close to a wall by getting close to one of the side and then attack him.

- Don´t try to sneak in an extra attack near the bottom in round 2 or 3 because this might lead to a mistake.

On the level called level 5:

There is a spot with electricity when you are hanging. Just play it careful and be sure that the electricity is on the upper spot and not down as you will get hit when you climb over if it is on the bottom and then die from falling.

In the last section of the level! learn it so you can reach the chicken boss without too much damage. Practice this! No point in trying to shoot the "witches" get one hit or none and escape with not too much damage. The "maze" near the chicken and before one last "witch". Shoot the eyes and time your jump well to not get any damage or maybe one from the "witch".

Practice Andy Asteroids 6:

It is good to practice this one because you might have little life after the chicken boss.

Pete the dog level:

Near the end of the level there will be a meteor storm! When you see these you want to make them "spawn" and go left so you are not so close. Easier to shoot the storm then and the dog will crouch down and wait if you shoot him so that should not be a concern. And yeah, near the end of the level after the last storm there are two annoying tentacles. I just let the dog hit the first one first and you will have to rewind a bit but the tentacle will be gone. Then I also let him hit the second one. Also if you do the first tentacle and don´t avoid it the first time you will likely get one less meteor storm that will spawn again. At this spot the dog will put you back and another storm might start. Just shoot the storm again when this happens.

Buttville:

The first section seems really tough but I rarely fail this section after I practiced this one. So practice this whole level until you feel comfortable with it. Especially the first section.

The path they take in the videos are good!

The "worms" or whatever that can kill you with one hit! Use your whip against them but don´t jump hit them standing too close. And the ones that you will have to your right when you stand on a small circle. Shoot them with the blaster or the normal weapon. Jump upwards and shoot when landing and jump again right away and upwards and shoot again. This way you might not risk falling! If you do then you tend to grab the ledge. I died on the very last one of these in the game once when I had a chance to get this achievement. Even if you can time it and just jump over that one! I do recommend that you shoot the last two in the game.

And just whip the bosses for this level! The last boss I stand on the first green thing that goes around and I never used the other one. I just jumped and whipped the last boss in the air. That way I did not have to land a jump on another circling green platform and risk missing. Timing the whip was easy enough!

By far the hardest achievement in the game. You must beat the entire single player mode in Original Difficulty and you cannot die, not even once. If you've played through the game already then you have an idea of where they enemies are and what to do. And of course, take your time.

The most problematic trophy in the game, because you just need to know the game thoroughly, so I advise you to do it after the trophy Superhero, because receiving it means that you have already studied the levels well and know all the quick ways to run through them.

It is worth noting that you are not allowed to leave the gaming session, i.e. after starting a new game, you cannot exit it, and you also cannot restart levels, this also resets all progress (tested from personal experience).

You can watch a video of the levels in the trophy tooltip. Superhero. On my own behalf, I would like to add that you shouldn’t rush headlong, everything needs to be done very carefully and, preferably, collect all the ammunition, because it is transferred to the next levels. It is also better not to waste plasma during the passage, because you will need it at the last level, because it takes a long time to knock down hives with a simple “machine gun”, and caterpillars that bite you in one go are also better to kill with it. Also, the mini-boss (claws sticking out of a piece of rock) dies in one hit plasma.

Well, a little tip about the final boss, from the ball closest to the entrance to the room with the boss, jump onto the green floating platform, when you find yourself close to the boss, jump and hit with a whip, on any difficulty it kills the queen with one blow, the main thing is to hit it.

I would also like to note the level of For Pete's Sake (where you accompany the dog), when you put the dog on the hook for the second time, on the lower part of the platform where he will be landing, be careful not to fall, because it seems that if you go back you will run into wall, but it (which made me indignant) is “ghostly”, in the end you can get a very offensive death.

Snot a Problem level:

From my experience I will say that the level is quite easy to complete if you do not hit the monster with your shoulder (using the buttons , , ), but simply using the left and right buttons to hit the walls (the monster seems to become less aggressive).
Also, it is better to try to pass the first and second levels with minimal losses, so that you have more chances on the third.
