How to unlock the Pixball Master achievement in Eastward - Definitive Guide

You will collect Tokens from treasure chests during the game. Use these at certain machines to obtain different Pixballs. The first one I found was in Greenburg, next to the Earth Bound machine. They give you items to use in Earth Bound, and I believe the rare ones contain the magic keys needed to unlock inaccessible areas in Earth Bound.

Each Pixball machine should show which ones it holds, and the Pixball machine prizes will change after you collect the 6 that are shown on the machine, or if you reload a save. You can collect them as you progress through the game or wait until Chapter 7 and do it all at once (see last section).

The Fat Dragon is given to you automatically through story progression, but you will need to beat Earth Born to unlock its availability (along the last 4 on the list and their alternates) in the Pixball machines. You will not be able to see the other 3 Dragons in the Pixball machine prize tiers, they will just be obtained randomly. If you need help beating Earth Born, click this link to check out my strategy -

Thanks to Dunge2 for adding every Pixball has an alternate color, so really you need to collect 40, not just 20. This needs to be done before completing the game as the alternate colors are not accessible in chapter select.

There are 50 tokens total available found in treasure chests. You can purchase tokens in Chapter 7 in Ester City from a robot, located in the upper left corner of Wisdom Street. Buying tokens from the robot costs 25 salt per token. You will have a chance to farm salt shortly after arriving in Ester City, so you can complete this achievement at this point, no matter how many you are missing. One of the enemies there is a skeleton dog-like creature that drops 10-30 salt per kill so farming a lot of salt is easy. I farmed 5000 salt, spent 2500 on 100 tokens and was able to finish my collection with plenty of tokens left over.

Worth mentioning that every pixball have an "alternate color" version, and you need them all, so there's 40 to collect, not 20.

Also worth mentioning that if you use chapter select to return and do this after the main game, all those alternative color won't be unlocked anymore, and you'll be back to 20/40 collected.

I just want to tell to people looking for a guide, that OP here was just incredibly lucky. During my first playthrough, I have bought pixballs throughout the game. Second playthrough, I kept salt and bought 70 token and used them all. I still miss the seagull and final true form variants.
In total, I have currently around 180 pixballs. So no, most likely you will not need only 2500.
And I don't know if they patch it or what, but the skull dogs drop salt at best 50% of the time.
So no, you probably don't want to farm here.

They did patch the amount of salt that pretty much everything drops unfortunately.
I watched some 2021 vids of people farming the salt bugs in ch3 and they were getting 60 salt per kill. I'm only getting 35 salt per kill now. LAME.

I found I had to move away a few map screens and return to get the pixball machine to change what it was dropping. There's 2 of those skeleton dogs in chapter 7 on the 2nd floor of the tower you can grind also if you're wrapping up at the end.

After a stupid amount of salt grinding and wasting tokens, I found out you don't even need to change screens or buy a bunch of Pixballs to have the prize lineup on the right change. Just keep opening and closing the Pixball machine screen and eventually the Pixel King will show up as the top prize. I've had him appear as top prize twice in 10 minutes doing this. Make sure you have 30-40 tokens before doing it so that you can get the alternate version of him as well in the same set of spins.

I waited to try and get any Pixballs until I completed the story, then went to Chapter 7-B in Chapter Select with 3000-4000 salt. I was able to get all of the Pixballs + alternate colors within this amount, but spun a bit more for the True Ending of Earth Born. If you're just wanting the Pixballs, make sure you don't hit the machine until you beat Earth Born normally. After that, don't hit the machine if you have the top prize + its alternate color. Finally, you can make a save before you start to spin in case your luck is bad.

If your mopping this up at the end of the game and aren't sure which alternates you've found, in the Collection tab for the Pixballs there will be a "(Y) Show Alternative" option for each one you've collected.
