This can be done solo, but the game will give you two COM teammates. You can also do this with just one other person and the game won't give you a COM as your third, although I found it more difficult this way. The COM teammates work the same as any other teammate would (If the COM is controlling a player, you can't control that player or make them do anything). Sometimes it is actually better to have the COM on your team because they probably don't make as many mistakes as the average player and generally have better positioning.

To get to this mode, it is under the efootball (second) tab on the top menu and titled "Online Co-op." From there, you can choose to do a casual match, then 3v3 mode. 3vCOM mode has been confirmed to not work, or at least be buggy.
