eFootball PES 2021 SEASON UPDATE

Just pick L. Messi for BAL mode and sim every game until you get to the World Best Player awards. Achievement will pop during the cutscene. Not sure why the other guide writes an essay on ratings for this cheevo.

The Become A Legend achievements used to be amongst the most time-consuming achievements in the previous iterations of the game. Thankfully, there have been a few workarounds detailed in recent solutions for the 2018 and 2019 games that have meant that these are now possible with just a few hours of mindless simulation.

This achievement guide is based on the guide for the identical achievement in eFootball PES 2020, which was written by Major Criolo BR. I've updated it slightly for the 2021 edition and added more details for newcomers, and given details on when you are likely to get the other three achievements in this game mode.

There are four achievements in total:

The Debutant - Awarded for making an appearance in Become a Legend

World Best Player Award - Awarded for being receiving the World Best Player Award in Become a Legend
Championship Winner - Awarded for winning the league title in Become a Legend

League Best Eleven - Awarded for being picked for the Best Eleven in Become a Legend

Preparation

It is important to prepare well for this mode, by accessing the Edit menu and modifying the details of the player you are planning to take through the BAL game. You can't edit the player ability once the game has started.

From the top menu, go to:

Settings -> Edit -> Players -> Edit Players

From there, navigate to the player you wish to take through the mode, and increase all of their stats to the maximum of 99. If you hold down X whilst pressing right on LS it makes this quicker. I chose:

Spanish League -> FC Barcelona (Listed alphabetically under B) -> Lionel Messi

Go to Ability/Player Skills/Playing Style

Hold down X and press right on the D-pad to improve the skills by ten each press. You don’t need to improve the GK skills, but everything can be set to 99. Also, ensure weak foot usage, weak foot accuracy, conditioning and injury resistance are at their maximum.

Once he is at maximum skills across the board, you can also ensure that the skill Fighting Spirit is included. This means he will get a small stats boost when tired, meaning you don’t need to worry as much about fatigue. I removed the Double Touch skill.

Leave the Edit mode and navigate back to the main menu.

BAL Mode

Start your game by navigating to BAL on the top menu. Select “New” to start a new game. Set the Match Time to 5 minutes and the Match Level to Beginner. Make sure you select ‘Existing Legend’ so you can choose the player you just edited (Spanish League -> FC Barcelona -> Lionel Messi).

Play the first match of the game mode to unlock your first of four BAL achievements.

The Debutant - Awarded for making an appearance in Become a Legend

The remaining three achievements are won by completing the season, getting good ratings each match and scoring lots of goals.

Here are some key things to remember:

- The maximum player rating you can get in a match is 9.0. You will definitely achieve at least an 8.0 and usually a 9.0 if you score four goals, make two assists and don’t get booked, sent off or substituted.
- Choosing a CF in a strong team makes this easier. Choosing a CF in a weak team makes it harder to get assists since your team mates don’t score every time and can’t set you up consistently.
- If you don’t play a match, you will probably get a 6.5 rating.
- If you charge down a defender from kick-off, you can often steal the ball immediately from the opposition’s kick-off and score every time. On Beginner level, the COM’s kick-offs are extremely predictable.
- The World Best Player Award is handed out in December, meaning in your first season you only have half a season to impress enough to get the award.
- From experience I believe the players start the first BAL season with a rating (which is not visible anywhere) and your average playing rating is mixed in with that rating to determine the World’s Best halfway through the first season. This is why I have found difficulty when playing as a poor or average player that I have improved, whereas lots of people choosing Ronaldo and Messi have simulated to December without playing a match and still got the achievement.
- An average rating of 7.50 should be enough to get World Best Player, though I achieved it by playing five matches and achieving an average rating of 6.9 after 19 matches (I simulated all international matches and the other 14 club matches).
- In Spain, FC Barcelona are rated the best team overall. The nearest rivals are Real Madrid (listed as Madrid Chamartin) and Atletico Madrid (Madrid Rosas RB). When you play these in the league, it is worth playing the match rather than simming, to ensure you keep the rating up and also help Barcelona to win the league.
- Most importantly, save the game regularly so you can re-load if something goes wrong.

Save the game at the end of November. At the start of December, you should net the achievement:

World Best Player Award - Awarded for being receiving the World Best Player Award in Become a Legend

If you don't get this, reload and see if you get it as there is an element of chance involved in the award.

After this, keep an eye on the league position. You should win most matches, but if you’re being caught then make sure you play one or two matches. Ensure you play enough to become top scorer and top assist maker overall.

With five matches to go, create a duplicate save game just in case you don’t get both achievements.

At the end of the season, you should net two achievements:

Championship Winner - Awarded for winning the league title in Become a Legend

League Best Eleven - Awarded for being picked for the Best Eleven in Become a Legend

Note: like the World Best achievement, there is an element of chance in the League Best Eleven. This method worked for me, first time.

If it fails, try the following two options:
- Restart to your last save point, made with five matches to go. Play some or all of the matches to improve your rating and score and assist more to ensure you get the achievement.
- Sim for another season.
