How to unlock the The Hero Whom the Runes Smile On achievement in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Definitive Guide
I got sick of having to juggle lots of tabs on my phone and struggling to keep track of the ridiculous amount of collectables in this game, while also discovering that some sources had a lot of missing, incomplete, hard to read and in some cases wrong information.
So I decided to do the reasonable thing and combine everything into a spreadsheet for all achievement-related collectables in this game. As always, this will be view only, so make a copy to your OneDrive and edit to your hearts content. I built the sheet for myself and will use this pretty exclusively to achieve 1000G - so if something is missing in there {and I don't have the achievement yet} please let me know. I will also be adding my own notes if I feel the information isn't enough.
The only one you will want to keep track of during your playthrough is the Recruits, as they'll help you for various things throughout the story, and having all recruits branches out into the other achievements (Card battles, Runes etc).
Once I've 1000G'd the game I'll edit this guide so that it's known that no further edits are planned.
If something isn't in this sheet, then it's because it either has a not-so-awkward check-list in game (Card Battles, Chests) and I felt that I didn't need it in the sheet, or it does not need a complete set to do and can just b done quickly (Hero Combos), or because I simply didn't know about it :)
As far as I know there are no missable collectables. It is recommended not to specifically go after most of these until you're far, far into the game, as a lot of the items can be picked up 'accidentally'. Additionally, some items I set the "Obtained" value to "HOLD" - these ones are technically possible to obtain fairly early in the game, but is strongly recommended to come back to it much later for various reasons (such as the recruit Dr Corque). For these I put an elaboration in the notes column.
Let me know if you have further suggestions. Otherwise, enjoy!

If you’re farming for the last few runes from the hero trials and you’ve finished normal mode, you can enter and exit endless mode until you get the boss you need. Make sure to have the lucky and super lucky bracelets to give you a guaranteed drop!

97% Can't find anymore runes.
According to the sheet I am only missing Channel Qi: Last Resort and I have no idea how to get it. My Lam is already L 93, so all runes slots already available.

A full list of runes in the game can be found in the checklist linked in the Road Map. The majority of them can simply be purchased, but some of the rarer ones will only come from boss drops during the story and/or Hero's Trial. It is extremely important to make sure if your bag is full at the end of a boss fight you make room and take the rune with you, sacrificing something else. None of these are missable since you can always replay the Hero's Trial and fight the boss again, but missing it the first try just causes wasted time.
This guide is if the tracker is showing 99% and you're completely stumped on what rune you're missing.
First off, you likely have every rune but one by completing all the other achievements. These are runes from:
- advancing in the story normally
- recruiting everyone
- opening all the chests
- winning all the eggfoot races
- obtained all the ???? rewards from guild missions
- defeating all the bosses in the Hero's Trials (the mysterious room door in your castle's basement)
- winning all mock battles vs Stadler
- fully upgrading the rune shop at your castle and buying all the runes. The only other shop that sells runes the castle shop does not is in Eltisweiss at the end of the game.
If you are at 99% and scratching your head at what you missed, it's gonna be the Rune of Clairvoyance. There's only 1 of them in the whole game.
How do you get the Rune of Clairvoyance?
- you must have beaten the game
- you get it by talking to a NPC named Sayid Ali who changes locations each time you talk to him until he gives it to you.
Salid Ali is a guy wearing a green turban and a green coat over a blue shirt. Hard to miss once you know what he looks like.
Appearances (there doesn't seem to be a set order. If he doesn't show, don't fret! move on to the next location):
Hishahn - He'll be wandering around the top right side near the castle entrance.
Impershi'arc - East side near where you encountered the beigoma trainers.
Fortress Town - Near the hot springs entrance.
Yarnaan - Wandering around the right side of the 3rd level.
Fortress Town - Near the hot springs entrance. He should give you a Rune of Radiance.
Skriss Village - I didn't see him here, but he's supposed to be in the upper left side of the village. You should be able to talk to him more than once.
Eltisweiss - Near Perrielle's mansion.
Fortress Town - Near the hot springs entrance again. He'll give you the Rune of Clairvoyance.
Not all encounters with Sayid are necessary. Apparently you can run into and talk to him throughout the story, but it isn't necessary. You can complete his hide and seek adventure start to finish after beating the game.
If I made any mistakes, let me know!

But there is a small mistake in the guide: Runes that are sold in the village of Altverden are indicated as "can be bought in the shop in the city", but this is not true. Most likely, this is a game error and it will be fixed in patches, but keep in mind.
