How to unlock the Gourmand Hero achievement in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Definitive Guide

This achievement requires that you cook every dish at the restaurant found in your city's Inn (called the Hero's Den). You will find a majority of the recipes by speaking to NPCs in the world and opening treasure chests, though a decent portion are also purchased as rare items in shops or by defeating opponents in the cooking battle mini-game. Once you have collected every recipe, you'll obviously then need to cook one of each. You'll get most of the ingredients from running Guild Missions, and as I mentioned in Town-Building Hero (40G) you'll want to be careful your ingredient storage doesn't max out when you're trying to farm some of the rarer ingredients. Once you have cooked a dish, its picture will go from a grey outline to a color picture of the dish to mark you've made it at least once.

A full list of the recipes can be found HERE, or seen in the video below. The ones listed as "rare items" in shops will not always be available and will show up in blue with a star if they're available. You can only purchase one of these every 30 minutes of in-game time, but you can save prior to checking a shop and if the item isn't there you can keeping reloading your save until it does show up. Wait another 30 minutes before trying this same process for the next item.

The process of getting the remaining recipes from the cooking battle mini-game begins once you have built the Inn (Hero's Den) in your city. After that, you will begin seeing cooks show up at the Inn, standing right next to Kurtz. Speak to them to begin a battle, where you will need to cook three dishes and attempt to impress four random judges from the characters you've recruited. The announcer will generally give you a minor (or sometimes very specific) hint about what each judge likes, but that will generally be in opposition of what someone else likes. It is extremely rare that all four judges will like something, but prioritize hitting a favored food of someone in each round.

A list of all the items that have been found to give high scores in the cooking battle mini-game can be found HERE, but be wary that it isn't foolproof. Once you beat an opponent, you'll need to wait 10 minutes of real time for another to show up. You'll always lose Battle #10 and need to go find an item in the Seaside Cavern to continue the quest. Defeat the remaining seven enemies after returning that item to get the last of the recipes from this mini-game.

I got sick of having to juggle lots of tabs on my phone and struggling to keep track of the ridiculous amount of collectables in this game, while also discovering that some sources had a lot of missing, incomplete, hard to read and in some cases wrong information.

So I decided to do the reasonable thing and combine everything into a spreadsheet for all achievement-related collectables in this game. As always, this will be view only, so make a copy to your OneDrive and edit to your hearts content. I built the sheet for myself and will use this pretty exclusively to achieve 1000G - so if something is missing in there {and I don't have the achievement yet} please let me know. I will also be adding my own notes if I feel the information isn't enough.

The only one you will want to keep track of during your playthrough is the Recruits, as they'll help you for various things throughout the story, and having all recruits branches out into the other achievements (Card battles, Runes etc).

Once I've 1000G'd the game I'll edit this guide so that it's known that no further edits are planned.

If something isn't in this sheet, then it's because it either has a not-so-awkward check-list in game (Card Battles, Chests) and I felt that I didn't need it in the sheet, or it does not need a complete set to do and can just b done quickly (Hero Combos), or because I simply didn't know about it :)

As far as I know there are no missable collectables. It is recommended not to specifically go after most of these until you're far, far into the game, as a lot of the items can be picked up 'accidentally'. Additionally, some items I set the "Obtained" value to "HOLD" - these ones are technically possible to obtain fairly early in the game, but is strongly recommended to come back to it much later for various reasons (such as the recruit Dr Corque). For these I put an elaboration in the notes column.

Let me know if you have further suggestions. Otherwise, enjoy!

Achievement Specific Notes
- In the spreadsheet, be mindful of items with the type "Shop" as they're "Star items" and not always stocked. Star items have a chance of spawning after 30 mins in-game. You can exploit this by waiting 30 minutes, saving, then doing the rounds until a star item appears in the locations you need. If you get none, load your save and try again, repeat until you get a star item.

- "Level" types are obtained by upgrading the Restaurant to a specified level. I started the recipes when my HQ was at level 2 so the "Automatic" category essentially means HQ Lv 2. If you're going for the 1000G you need to max out your HQ constructions, so you'll get those at the same time.

- To see which recipes you've cooked, the image on the bottom right of the screen will have the actual dish displayed instead of a greyed out shape with ? in the middle. You can press Y to get details on where to find the ingredients.

- Good page to help with Cooking Battles (which you need to obtain 17 recipes) linked below. I would make a note of the judge's name, their favourite food, the type of their favourite food, and their mood. For example; Lían = Spicy Hamburg Steak = Spicy = Happy. Their mood is depicted in the Battles introduction with the icon that appears above their head. Music note (🎶) = Happy mood, Elipses (...) Bad mood, the other symbol = Normal. If I didn't have anyone's favourite recipe in a course and the majority of the judges liked Spicy food, then I would cook a spicy dish that best suited them all and still receive 3-4 points. Prioritise the happy people as they're more generous with their scores.

This achievement is more difficult than it appears since you also have to find and collect all recipes. This will be the most difficult part as some recipes are time restricted, what I mean is some recipes must be bought at the shop like the theatre scripts and these are rare purchases so they don't always appear and the shops will only refresh after 30 minutes of play time. Unfortunately I don't have the exact locations committed to memory but you'll basically need to keep your eyes open at all the shops.

You also collect recipes through cooking battles, certain NPCs you talk to (mostly inside houses but some aren't), and in battle encounters in chests throughout certain areas. They're really making you work for a lot of these achievements

There's an exploit for checking shops for special items. After the 30 min refresh has happened you can save and load near whatever shop you are trying to get the item to appear in. The game only registers the items in the shop after you open the menu to browse it, so loading before you checked the shop will still refresh it when you recheck for the special item. Can confirm this method works, saves a lot of time

Make sure you aren't full on cooking materials. Had 2k/2k so I wasted quite a few missions without gaining vinegar.
