How to unlock the Hero of Commerce achievement in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Definitive Guide

Save this until you open all the below towns/cities. Twinhorne West can be accessed when you need to reach Athrabalt. It's the town further east on the overworlds area map.

I would recommend buying things every now and then including when first visiting an town with a trading post. When you can teleport, store them in your base. This will give you a healthy amount for the trader who is recruitable in Twinhorne West. Trading done before talking to him will not count towards the 50,000 needed to recruit him. Diamonds aren't the best value at the castle but if you buy anything there, that should be it. You'll still make a good amount after selling.

*Kimono and Wall Scrolls aren't immediately available. I'm not sure the trigger but a message popped up after I sold some stuff. I accidenlt hit "A" and the message was gone.

**Forever Black Eggs may be called "something else" Black Eggs in your game (ex: Hot Springs Black Eggs). Looks like it's dependent on what you call them in Rising. It's still the same rule of thumb for best value below. I'll refer to those as just "___ Black Eggs" below to hopefully help with any confusion.

Best Trade Buy/Sell
Ignore all arrows telling you if value is higher or lower. You should always make a profit if bought and sold as listed below. If you wait for the lowest prices, you will just take more time needed for this then needed.

You could always start as soon as possible or sell some stuff if you need the cash. The route above can be run in about 10-15 minutes. You'll need to wait for restocks. I believe they are about every 30 minutes but correct me if I'm off on that amount.

Edit: BryceSlayer notes in comments: If you spend 10k on diamonds and 10k on other goods then go and sell your diamonds for 20k and don't sell anything else you wont get any progress towards achievement at that point in time cause the game calculates your unsold goods as a loss until sold. Only your running net profit of all purchase/sale goes toward progress.

The black eggs are an item you get to name in Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising. It's one of the things that carries over to this game if a save from Rising is found on your profile.

I was under the impression that stock is refilled once an hour. The castle restocks much faster though (15 minutes is my guess). Game time, not real life time.

I'd love if someone could confirm it's every 30 minutes. I could be doing my trade runs more often!

Thanks FAT CURRY. I've updated with the note about the Black Eggs.

I'm still thinking refresh is 30 minutes but happy (not really happy as that would take longer) to be wrong. Trying to find confirmation somewhere.

I believe this is bugged for me. It might happen when I switch Xbox's. This and the spend 1m gold seem to reset progress when i go from 1 xbox to the next.

Does this also count toward the spend 1mil gold?

Epic Joe Smash, the progress was reset for me also and I didn't switch Xbox's. It seems to happen sometimes in between play sessions. Might need to buy 500,000+ of materials and sell them all at once to make the 1mil profit in a single time.

This list was awesome bro. A couple things to note. I'm about 99% certain that this achievement runs on a running net profit ledger. I had been buying throughout the entire game stockpiling trade goods, when i finally thought i had enough i went around and sold it all. I went from 294k to 1.365m and that put me at 69% progress. Scared of it losing progress as indicated above I committed to doing round robin trips of buying and selling with 3 card duels in between being enough time to restock trade posts. After 4 more trips i got to 99%, meaning i only needed to make 10k more, however, because i was buying at every single place during the 5th run it required roughly 28k of profit to pop that last percent.
TLDR: If you spend 10k on diamonds and 10k on other goods then go and sell your diamonds for 20k and don't sell anything else you wont get any progress towards achievement at that point in time cause the game calculates your unsold goods as a loss until sold. Only your running net profit of all purchase/sale goes toward progress

@SUPER BOCHMAN: Yes.
@BlackEyesMonkey: Your own base is not listed, I guess to buy and sell nothing there then?

Own base isn't listed as nothing has the best/worst values from what I can tell. I did note that you could buy diamonds there and still get a good profit selling them if you want.

Unfortunately, this guide isn't entirely clear.

Are we supposed to go through the list of towns twice every 30 minutes? I ask because I started with nothing in my inventory to sell Werne Village, but your guide says to sell Leather Clothes there, but the first chance you get to pick them up is at Ardinale City. I'm starting from scratch in my inventory with everything, so do we go to Werne Village, buy everything on your list for that town, go to the next location, buy and sell what we can there, and keep going on down the list...then after we buy at Twinhorne West, go BACK to Werne Village and sell the leather clothes there that we had to buy at Ardinale City, and then find the towns that we were supposed to sell the other things at but did not have them in our inventory at the time?

It's a little confusing in that regard.

How you handle buying and selling is up to you. I've made trips around the world sometimes and just bought things when I came across at others. In the guide, I did suggest just buying things to start out and saving them in your storehouse. The guide was more of a resource to not waste money and get the best profits.

@BlackEyedMonkey
So what I am doing right now is buying and selling according to your guide. Is that a waste of time at this point? Should I be doing something else?

It's up to you. You're going to be traveling all over the place to clean stuff up later. Not sure where you are though. When in an area, but what's available. Store it away. If you want to, you can go round trip and fast travel, buy and sell at each spot. That may be a little as you may not always have something to sell. Bigger priced items like diamonds, always buy as the return is the best. It's not a quick process.

The Trading Post feature in the game is largely useless, and extremely tedious. You will make way more money just farming the trials or Unknown Coins and Pocket Watches from the final dungeon. But here we are, achievement hunting and doing it anyway. The guide I found HERE has the best breakdown and farming route for this that I've found. Basically, buy nearly everything from every trading post in the game, then run back through the towns and sell the items to the most optimal spots. Don't pay too much attention to the up and down arrows, as those are only in respect to the prices at that specific town, and different towns have different base prices. The towns mentioned in the linked guide are all the best option to sell to, even if the item has a down arrow next to it at the time. The video below has a nice alternate version of the written guide above as well.
