Once you buy the trap from the Tool Shop, in the main explorable area's (Great Forrest, Quarry, Snowpeak etc) whilst on your travels you will occasionally see prompts to place a trap now appear. Once placed, as you leave the area (where you collect all your loot and items,) it will then tell you if you have successfully obtained any meat or not. The success rate seems pretty random. You can also set multiple traps, so just set them any time you have the option.
I only did this 'guide' because as far as I could tell the game doesn't actually tell you how to collect the meat!

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I had to keep revisiting the traps or not. The game just doesn't mention collection at all lol
