How to unlock the Dragonlord Placidusax achievement in ELDEN RING - Definitive Guide

Located at the end of the Crumbling Farum Azula

I used this video to help me find him as its not super obvious

If you missed him and killed Elden Beast this is a pretty easy fight, might take a couple tries. Downside is that the runback is pretty far

i have beaten him with no special build: used this blood flys spell und my mimic tear. i tried to stay allways behind him.
yes, i took damge but guess around 6-7 flasks was enough to stay alive.

Thanks for the help in finding this boss, but I don't appreciate you mentioning how easy the fight was. This is a long fight with a long runback, and for my damage output (with two +10 swords) I had to dodge at least 3 instant-kill abilities to down it. That fire laser ability it does below 25% health is extremely dangerous.

To be fair you should have a +20-25 swords at this point, so more than likely why you would have more trouble.

If their swords are levelled with somber stones, then +10 is as high as it gets.

his first phase is indeed easy, but the second one is a real pain. His attacks don't give enough time to drink potion and hit real hard. But I guess some people need to boast online in hope to get some attention

He has so many instant death attacks. The death rays when he's near death are the worst...it's very important that you deal enough damage in short time (spam Swarm of Flies), so he doesn't use that attack, or get very lucky to be behind him when he does, because it's the apocalypse.

I’ve been attempting him for days now. First boss to give me any real trouble.

Was really struggling with this one so left it for a few days and just beat him second try. Two-handed a +10 bloodfang sword and maxed-out mimic, using the alternative left-trigger attack, and it shredded him pretty quickly.

Out of all the bosses...this one sucked. Beat him with a combo attack of the wreath summoning bell and carrion shield, the swords did enough damage for me to dodge and hit him while distracting him with a mimic

Cheese it with arrows? Why, what's the point in even playing the game in the first place? Stick with Yooka-Laylee if you find this kind of thing too taxing.

Envoys Longhorn decimates this thing. Get it and save some time or a lot of time by killing the dragon with bubbles lol.

Beat him first time using Comet Azur with all the fixings. Lusat's Staff, the Tears that give you unlimited FP for a bit and better magic scaling. It can be done in one shot, but I got like 95 percent of his health down using Terra Magicka and Comet Azur with the Physicks. Truth be told, I almost died when he came back down.
This would have taken quite a while as a melee build.

Using a fully levelled up Latenna summon and placing her on the row behind the columns that surround the main boss area you can aggro the dragon by running away from her and around the edge of the columns, avoiding lightning. Run back and forth and she will decimate the dragon while it’s focused on you. Did it first attempt.

An easy way to kill this boss as of 1.04.2 is to use the Serpent Bow in conjunction with Serpent Arrows and Bloodbone Arrows.

Gather the Serpent Bow, 100 Serpent Arrows, and 100 Bloodbone Arrows (Fletched). By this point in the game those items are not difficult to come by. You can back up to the wall when you enter the arena, shoot him until he is poisoned, and then use blood arrows until a hemorrhage, then repeat. You need mighty shot for the distance, and the Arrow's Reach Talisman is a bonus. It took me around 10 Cerulean flasks to have the necessary fp to use Mighty Shot until he was killed.

This boss has around 30,000 HP, and each Poison will do about 2500 damage. In addition to the blood damage, you should have more than enough to kill him. Also note he will drop down mid-fight. If you are far enough away, he will not aggro.

Here is a video that explains the process in more detail. This may be patched in the future:

Sadly, this exploit has been patched out of the game (as of version 1.05). I did, however, have luck with a relatively cheesy strategy that was borne out of trying and failing to make the exploit work.

I equipped myself with the Serpent Bow (+10), the Arrow's Reach and Arrow's Sting talismans, plus 100 each of Bloodbone arrows and Serpent arrows. I aggroed the dragon, and proceeded to circle strafe around him counter clockwise, while firing arrows at him. The range was about the same as what it was where you spawn into the arena, maybe a little closer.

I first shot him with Serpent arrows to trigger the poison damage over time, and while that was ticking away, shot him with Bloodbone arrows to trigger bloodloss. When the poison damage stopped, I started over.

For some reason –maybe that I kept out of a certain range – the dragon just stuck with his regular red lightning area of effect attacks as long as I was circle strafing and shooting arrows. So long as you keep moving while locked on, there's enough of a window between lightning attacks that you can evade, loose an arrow and evade without taking damage.

I got him down to about a quarter health before I ran out of arrows, and his second phase still hadn't triggered by this point. I then summoned a spirit (I used Tiche +10), let her aggro and damage, while I kept my distance and hammered him with spells. Time consuming, but it worked.

Optional Boss

Location: Crumbling Farum Azula
Suggested Level Range: 90-100
Damage Types: Standard, Lightning, Fire
Weakest To: Pierce
Drops: 280,000 Runes, Remembrance of the Dragon Lord

To get to Dragonlord Placidusax head to the Beside the Great Bridge site of grace, turn around and take the elevator back into the church. Run directly out past the beastman straight to the cliff side and you can see a spot to drop down, keep following the path downward and it will take you to a floating wall. Rest in the open bit and after the cutscene you will be in the boss arena.

His attacks are quite quick and hit hard, however after each attack there is a decent amount of time for you to get swipes in. The safest space to stand is near his back feet as he does not have a stomp attack like most other dragons. Like other dragons, the weakspot is the head, but there will be very few times when you can actually attack the head.

At 50% he will rise into the air and disappear, look for the storm clouds in the air and he will dive out of the clouds and slash at you. Dodge towards it to avoid the attack. After this he will gain an attack where he will disappear and reappear with a small slash attack. He also will get another breath attack where each head will fire off a beam that will do high damage if you are hit by the beam. The best option is: if you can run up beside him before the lasers go of; if you can't, dodge in the direction they are coming from to move through the hitbox faster.

In the second half of Azula's Shattered Farum location, you can find a non-obvious descent down. Looking at the mini-temple (after the unfinished dragon), from which there is a further passage to Maliket, we jump down onto the platforms until we reach a large piece of the building. There we find a place where you can lie down (second picture) by pressing triangle. We perform this simple action, watch an epic cutscene, and find ourselves in the arena with the boss.
Bleeding works quite well for him; to quickly apply it, I used the “River of Blood” katana, which dropped from a phantom in one of the temples. I advise you to use the injected ashes "False Tear", which copies your equipment. We follow the boss's timings, try to stay close and land as many hits as possible. When it enters the second phase, we watch for its appearance in the sky and dodge at the right moment. After this, he can teleport 1-3 times, accompanied by blows, and then for a while switch to the state from the first phase, then flies away again, etc. We continue until victory.

Passed easily and very quickly with a false tear +10 and the magic "Comet Azura". The bot aggravates the boss, and at this time we fry him with magic from a distance. The boss is buggy, at a certain moment the AI may break and the boss will freeze in place, doing nothing, thereby becoming an easy prey

When the boss in phase 2 teleports on the ground, turn on target lock and hit him as much as possible, there is a chance that the boss' AI will turn off.

works well from a crossbow with a spiked bolt and a bone bolt, you don’t even need to approach it, you can also use a putrid bolt

The easiest way is to buy rotten dragon's breath for a dragon's heart. You poison and just run around the arena while the drop distracts you. Killed in 2 minutes.

If you are a believer
On the head is the messenger's crown , the rest of the clothes are optional.
Talismans - Alexander's shard , Godfrey's sign , sacred scorpion amulet , 4th talisman optional.
A flask with tears is a holy cracked tear , a crystal tear of faith .
The weapon in the right hand is a long horn of a messenger, preferably at +9 (+10).
Prayer is the golden vow .
I recommend equipping a weapon with bloodhound ash to quickly get to the boss.
The beginning of the battle, buff yourself, drink your tears, use the “snoop” skill to slide under the dragon’s wing and blow the pipe: the effect will be so amazing that the dragon lord will fall out of balance 2 times, will not live to see the 2nd phase and will not even have time to take off.
