How to unlock the Margit, the Fell Omen achievement in ELDEN RING - Definitive Guide

If this is the first boss room that you encounter…you didn’t explore the first area thoroughly enough. There are a few others in the starting area so it’s best to start with those first to level up. Seriously, starting with this fight first is like trying to fight the Dancer of the Boreal Valley when you first start Dark Souls III. Explore the map, hunt down the other small dungeons and fight those bosses to level up first and get better weapons.

If you follow the trail of light from the Lost Grace Sites, you’ll eventually be led to this boss.

Halfway through the fight he’ll start using weapons made of light; you want to avoid them as the damage will bypass your shield. The overhead smash with the hammer will likely one shot you so avoid it at all costs, you’ll know he’s preparing it when he has it out then jumps up over you. When he pulls out the dagger of light, he'll either use it as a throwing weapon or in melee, either way it's going to be in a 3 hit combo, so it's best to dodge away from him to avoid the damage.

There’s an NPC summon nearby if you need help, along with the statue to enable Jolly Co-Operation right by the fog wall, it's the small T-shamed statue. These can be found near every boss room. The ash summon I found most helpful was the jellyfish you obtain from the girl hiding in the ruined house east from the room where this boss fight occurs. Keep in mind that you cannot use ash summons if you summon another player, just other NPCs.

Also, thanks to faultrd for mentioning the shackles item from the Murkwater Caves that can be used on this boss. I hadn't found that location when I fought the boss, so I didn't know about it when posting this guide. To find that cave, look on the map for the large lake and the river feeding it that can be followed north. There's an NPC invader in this area so be careful, but an NPC helper will automatically join to help protect you. Follow this river north to find the caves on the left-hand side.

I would avoid the NPC summon since it makes the fight harder by giving the boss more health, with the NPC not doing much.

I also recommend the Jellyfish summon for this one, it's super bulky so it won't die in just a hit or two and can hit him with ranged attacks while you fight him 1v1 or you can use him to distract Margit while you get in free hits.

If you summon other players (not sorceror roderigo) for the boss fight be aware that you cannot use the jellyfish or wolves or any other summons you might have collected in this fight.
Your Margit shackles are still useable , and if timed right in the first half of the battle can be devastating with two other players striking him.

Thanks for the tips, realy. First souls game for me, with zero knowledge of "how to play these games right", no matter wich direction i went, i got killed in two hits by anything in the world. So the basics are do everything other than the main objective and practice.

Margit was tough. The Margit's shackle is an item that can make it a bit easier, which you can find in the Murkwwater caves. It freezes Margit but can only be used twice in the encounter and only during the first phase. I used the wolves and the NPC summon to distract him whilst I used charged attacks to stagger him and then crit straight after. Took me toooo many attempts.

If, like me, you accidentally kill Patches in Murkwater Cave instead of sparing him (my last blow that I was already committed to took off a load of his health!) and can't revert back due to the poor saving system, you can still get the Shackles by giving the item he drops to the twin maiden husk things at the Roundtable which allows you to buy it from there instead.

How strong you need to be:

In this video guide I will show you how to defeat Margit, the Fell Omen.
First off this will be your first greater enemy in the game if you follow the story progress correctly. Now if you haven't done any leveling up of your character or weapons, you might want to go back and farm for that stuff first. I would say minimal of two or three health upgrades, one or two health flaks upgrades for capacity, one or two for FP bar, and at least one level on your weapon. Now all this is by preference of course, and also different per class. So just adjust to what you think you might need for your class.

Which moves to use:

Before you go into the open fighting area, summon the AI Rogier to help out.
Also if you picked up the bell to summon spirits will help a lot too. Mostly what you want to do is attack as often and as fast as possible when the boss is distracted. If you are playing the samurai like me, using the unsheathe ability as much as you can until the FP bar is gone. This will do most of the damage. Whenever you see him go to his knees make sure to get a free "deathblow" on him for more damage. This may happen twice or more if the right moment happens and if he gets staggered. Also if you want to use the bow for the strong attack by holding LT and pressing RB will deal some good damage as well. Which ever character you have you can also apply the same type of implementations. Just use your set skills when I do.

What attacks to watch for:

Now once he is about halfway the main move of his is when he brings the hammer out and jumps in the air for a big AOE attack. Just keep rolling away from him and hope his attention is on some AI. He has another nasty multi combo attack, so make sure to have plenty of stamina and roll a bunch to avoid it. Just try to keep Rogier alive as long as possible, or you will loose your distraction. If you keep getting good skill hits along side your hit and run tactics when you have an opening, plus Rogier's attacks he should fall fairly quickly. The achievement will pop as soon as you get the rewards.

Margit, the Fell Omen, is a mini-boss. When felled for the first time, he will drop 1 Talisman Pouch, allowing you to equip a second talisman.

This is a bit of a cheesy way of dealing with Margit. It requires a little running around to get the required items, but it does work.

The level I did this at = Level 30

The items I used are:-

Rotten Stray Spirit Ashes (From Caelid) [For Scarlet Rot effect]

Morning Star (From Weeping Peninsula) [For Bloodloss effect]

If you need help finding the items here's a guide:-

Optional

Location: Limgrave - Stormhill
Suggested Level Range: 20-30
Damage Types: Standard, Strike, Pierce, Holy
Weakest To: Slash
Drops: 12,000 Runes, Talisman Pouch

This will probably be one of the first bosses you fight in the game as the whisps coming off the grace at the start of the game suggest you go in this direction. Margit is quite fast and has some decent attacks, most of the difficulty comes from the attack animations from the boss. Some of them come out pretty quick while he holds others for quite a long time before actually attacking.

Once he gets around 50% HP he will enter a second phase where he will get a Holy Hammer that he will chain at the end of his other combos along with a large jumping slam attack.

You can purchase Margit's Shackle from Patches to stun him twice during the first phase of the fight.

You can buy shackles from Patchwork in the cave for 5000 runes, which allow you to stun the boss twice, which helps quite a lot.

At the beginning of the game, if difficulties arise, you can use Ashes and Network mode

Magrite is well poisoned, prone to blood loss, and some of his attacks (a sweeping attack with a staff from right to left) can be parried. The boss is quite harsh, before going to him it is better to level up to level 20, with an emphasis on stamina and health.
