How to unlock the Legendary Ashen Remains achievement in ELDEN RING - Definitive Guide

There are 6 legendary ashen remains hidden across the game. As far as I know they are not connected to any side quest or other decision points and can therefore not be missed as long as you don't finish the final boss.
You should start looking for the one's you are missing after uncovering the whole map to avoid location spoilers.

I came across this helpful guide to find the two ashes I was missing:

If you are unsure how to reach the areas shown in the video I would recommend to continue playing and attempting other the boss related achievements first.

@Ju Rene V - Certain bosses drop an item called a Remembrance. These are like the boss souls from Dark Souls. They can be consumed for runes or turned in to an NPC to be made into weapons or other items. So if you burned one for souls you wont be able to get that item until the next playthrough

@Sonnie: Some of those have 2 choices. Does that mean we need to dupe those first? Also, are they considered legendary?

You can't dupe all of them in your first playthrough as there aren't enough Walking Mausoleums in the game as there are Remembrances. I just duped the harder bosses I don't want to bother with on my 2nd playthrough that are optional. Also not sure if they count as Legendary, but I'd assume so.

Yeah, apparently there's only 9 legendaries and all of them can be found in the open world. Only one is missable due to story events.

Yes, one armament is missable when you advance the story past the main objective in the mountaintops of the giants.
It is hidden inside the Capital City but becomes unobtainable afterwards.

It's called Bolt Of Gransax.
It sits on top of the giant spear, next to the giant stone dragon, in the Capital. You have to climb on top of it to collect it.

thanks, saw that after I posted. from the erdtree gold godrey grace, go outside, down the elevator, down the stairs, jump over the fence to the left onto a platform that the giant spear is sticking into, walk up the spear.

Hi, thanks for the guide. I have a question, does anyone now know if there's a risk of losing access to legendary spells/incantations, armaments, talismans and ashen remains if you advance on the main path? I've only seen people warning about missable boss related achievements

I watched some videos of the weapons being unlocked and the descriptions does not say it's legendary. Press X on a weapon/talisman to see if it says something like "One of the legendary armaments." in the description. There are a total of 6 Legendary Ashen Remains. They are either found at the end of mini dungeons, defeating a boss, or picked up in the world. Below is a list of all 6 and their locations:
  1. Lhutel the Headless - Reward for defeating the Cemetery Shade in the Tombsward Catacomb dungeon.
  2. Ancient Dragon Knight Kristoff - Reward for defeating the Ancient Hero of Zamor in the Sainted Hero's Grave dungeon.
  3. Redmane Knight Ogra - Reward for defeating the Putrid Tree Spirit in the War-Dead Catacombs dungeon.
  4. Mimic Tear - Located in a chest behind an Imp Statue Door in Night's Sacred Ground.
  5. Black Knife Tiche - Reward for defeating Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader at the Ringleader's Evergaol.
  6. Cleanrot Knight Finley - Located in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, near a gazebo. A Cleanrot Knight has their back turned to you and the Ashen Remains are in the chest they are looking at.

If you have problems getting a handful of ashes from Point 3 of the first clue (Black Knife of Tycheus), then you need to lure Alecto to the cliff behind the stones.

I advise you not to use finishing moves, because... Alecto can change position after pinning her on a ledge with normal attacks.
The principle is shown in the video; it does not work on all ledges.

Ticheus' Black Knife is very difficult to obtain.
I had to tinker with him for a long time; the enemy is more difficult than many bosses.
I tried the tactic based on a hint from navigator_777 (but apparently it was already fixed, since this mob didn’t get stuck in the textures for me personally).
I ended up winning with two spells: Flame of a Fallen God and Rotten Breath + wearing a set with spikes (the set does little damage when dodging, but still helped a little, since I had to roll a lot).
The tactics are as follows: At the very beginning of the battle, I ran up one step before the enemy appeared, launched the Flame of the Fallen God, then took a step and used Rotten Breath - it immediately destroys about 15% of health. Then the ball arrived and the opponent fell to the ground. Then I ran and hid behind the stones, and the enemy got stuck on the other side, and I kept sending one spell, then another, to his forehead.
Sometimes the enemy managed to break through to me, then I rolled and jumped to the other side, repeating the same thing over and over again.
The main thing is that there is a block of stones between you and the enemy. Not the first time, but it worked out.
