How to unlock the Maliketh the Black Blade achievement in ELDEN RING - Definitive Guide

Seeing as no one has posted anything yet I thought I’d try. Maliketh is the final boss of Crumbling Farum Azula and you must defeat him to progress to the ending. He has two phases, the first one is the beast clergyman that throws out all the Beast incantations and dagger swipes that can be dodged fairly easily. Play around and use the Pillars. The second phase is where it gets hard, Maliketh is EXTREMELY mobile. He has a 5 hit combo where he throws out 3 ranged slashes and goes in for 2 sword strikes, watch out for this as it can kill very easily. Also be carefully when he puts his sword in the ground as he does AOE attacks that hit anyone to close, even if you think you’re safe. Some of his attacks that hit you will burn you over time. Again, use the pillars for cover. For damage I suggest either using the bloody slash art of war or hoarfrost on fast hitting weapons like katanas. PLEASE USE THE MIMIC +10, you’re mimic has much more health than you or any online player and will spam your ash of war. Good luck.

Flame of the Redmanes was significantly nerfed in patch 1.08, makes that method a bit more difficult.

I think it's important to note that defeating him will turn Leyndell to ash and potentially lock you out of some loot, most notably the Bolt of Gransax, which is required for the Legendary Armaments achievement.

I struggled a lot with this boss but when I started using Flame of the Redmanes he was toast in no time. Totally OP.

Flame of the Redmanes has gotten even better since patch 1.07 so I second this strategy.
Pairing this with Black Knife Tiche and he's practically dead before his second phase.

Location: Crumbling Farum Azula
Suggested Level Range: 90-100
Damage Types: Standard, Magic (Phase 1), Holy (Phase 2)
Weakest To: Standard, Slash, Strike, Pierce
Drops: 220,000 Runes, Remembrance of the Black Blade

This is a two stage fight. First, you will start off by fighting the Beast Clergyman. This part of the fight isn't too bad as his attacks aren't too hard to dodge, but once you reduce him to about 50% HP a cutscene will happen and you will face off against Maliketh the Black Blade, where the fight gets much tougher.

First, Maliketh's sword is infused with a dark energy that when it hits you, it will reduce your max HP and cause a DoT effect. Getting hit a couple of times by this--even if you survive the blows--will kill you. You can use the pillars to block the projectiles he uses, but do not stand too close to the pillars as the sword animations can still hit you from the other side. He moves very quickly around the arena so it is hard to get in more than 1 hit at a time. The one move he has that you can punish the most is when he swipes out in front of him then slams the sword into the ground. If you roll through the swipe and get behind him you can get a few good hits in before he is able to move again. You can also use the Blasphemous Claw item to parry Maliketh, when his sword glows gold is the cue to use the item.

The boss was found in the Broken Farum by Azula, access to which appears after talking with Melina at the “Forge of Giants” grace.
Passed with a bloodhound's fang at +10 and the ashes of a False Tear.
In the first phase, we simply dodge attacks and hit the boss on L2, when he attacks Tear, the second boss puts a curse on him, it’s better to hit after an attack with an explosion or during simple attacks with a sword, dodging at the boss.

From grace, on the right side there will be a mounted enemy and the boss himself, and on the left there is still space for exploration. So, if you go to the left of grace, you can find an item - a blasphemous claw

, which allows you to reflect the dark magic of Maliket. The item lies in the chest, in front of which Bernal invades our world.

Instead of False Tear, I would recommend using Luthel the Headless. Her main feature is that she teleports around the arena constantly and rarely gets hit by the boss. At the same time, it has both melee attacks and a throwing spear. She is much more tenacious than a mimic and acts more judiciously. It is necessary to upgrade to +10.

For those who only go solo and suffer from it, I advise you to use Rivers of Blood (pumped up) on the boss, because in phase 2 it is difficult to catch this acrobat, even if you play carefully with the same bloodhound fang, you instantly get a response. By talismans: talisman with a green turtle, legacy of a prosthetic carrier, mercy of the Erd Tree +1, medallion with crimson amber +1. I also advise you to create a flask from an opal tear in a bubble + a tear for healing (or a cracked rock tear). Also, before going to him, I advise you to get a blasphemous claw (a very useful thing in phase 2), which drops from Bernal, who invades this location.

Phase 1 focuses on 2 of his attacks: 1) when he sticks his hand into the ground and carries out an attack with the claw of the beast - we roll onto him (it is advisable to roll at close range), inflict damage and immediately roll back.
2) Slow horizontal attack on the ground - run back a little and move parallel to the attack in the opposite direction, or you can run from behind and inflict damage. Other attacks such as: animal sling, boulder throwing, poking attacks, gravitational manipulation of multiple boulders - can be safely ignored by running away and rolling.

Phase 2. I recommend starting with full HP. 2 horizontal swings - rolls in his direction, causing damage. The boss is fast and will often jump from you and attack from the air with a dive.

The rebound and sticking of the blade into the ground is accompanied by an explosion - you need to dodge the attack and roll to coincide with the timing of the explosion.

Spinning the sword near you, then sticking it into the ground, is accompanied by the summoning of blades (very similar to the single mind attack of old Isshin from Sekiro and the Dudgeon Kat of Virgil from DMC5) near you - an accurate dodge in timing.

Combo attacks in the air with throwing 3 red slashing spells followed by a charge in your direction (the charge one-shot me). Hitting red spells causes damage and temporarily consumes your HP. Dojit 3 attacks of red spells by rolling left and right and immediately after 3 spells use a blasphemous claw, which parries his charge, after which the boss stands for a while and makes a slow blow with his blade - damage until it rebounds.
Don't forget about the flask of tears, it will allow you to miss 1 of his attacks without much damage.

Finish off an attack with quick somersaults by rolling to the side.

Let me add a little, the updates did not weaken the mimic, but removed the ability to summon it on some bosses;

You need the ashes of war "Karian Retribution", any shield improved by +25 and the "Ghost Bell". We equip "Carian Retribution" into a shield. Right after you ring the bell, parry with your L2 shield. This will turn the swords into three powerful homing swords that will be projected onto the boss. Practice a little and everything will work out.

For my crooked sword/shield playstyle, the only way to kill the boss in the second stage was to redistribute skills to a mage to use the Azura Comet magic (requires 60 wisdom). For talismans, I used the godfrey sign (increases the power of charged spells), the grave school talisman (increases the power of spells) and the radagon sign (accelerates the casting of spells), and for weapons - the pumped up shiny staff of Lusat. When the boss stops jumping and starts walking slowly (preferably not behind you), hold down L1 until all the mana burns out. A lot of lives are destroyed from such attacks, the main thing is that the beam hits the boss and not past. Quickly won when paired with the same summoned magician
