How to unlock the Coldhearted achievement in ELEX - Definitive Guide

Easiest way to get this achievement is to consume Natural Elex, every 10 with increase your Cold value by 1 point. If you just started the game out it will take approximately 400 Natural Elex to hit 90.

Drinking any Elex Potion will also increase your Cold value by 0.1.

Its recommended to go for the Human Achievement first, then simply consume 1000 Natural Elex to fast track to this Achievement.

Note that just reaching a Cold value >= 90 (by consuming Elex) does not trigger the achievement, you also need to have one final dialogue which increases cold to activate the check.

Would highly recommend leaving this until the finale of the game, as there's endings for having cold under 10, in the middle, and above 90. If you make a save with less than 10 before

then you can get all three by reloading the save and consuming Natural Elex.

I'd also recommend making a save after consuming the 500 or so Natural Elex to get the second ending "The Third Way", so you don't have to reload and use 1000, but only another 500, but it's not strictly necessary, just optimal.

WARNING *****************check bottom of solution for advice regarding the final boss as your cold value is releated to 3 achievements which are only obtainable in the final boss battle. You are supposed to playthrough the game twice to earn these however there is a way to get all 3 in one game. scroll to end for advice on this******************

Coldhearted achievement
These are the range of Cold values, you can't tell your exact value but if you go onto the attribute screen it will tell you your current range. Cold level goes up to 100, you need 90 for the achievement.There is a bug in the game when your cold value is between 80,-90 your status will say emotional, dont worry this is a bug it should say Ice cold, others have reported that it can also say this at cold value 70-80.

The best way to increase your cold level is through dialogue. Save often if succesful it will say Cold Level Increased, if it says decreased reload and choose an alternate option. think of Cold as the same as the emotion, so in dialogue try to be as unemotional and 'cold' as possible, be selfish, obedient, unapologetic and uncaring. eg, if someone says they want someone dead, say, 'how much do I get', if you are asked to leave an area, dont protest say OK, and so on. If you have been following the story you will know Jax once belonged to the Albs, they are fed Elex which deprives them of all emotion leaving them focused solely on the mission objective. It takes a while to get used to as the computers first choice of dialogue is emotional so always choose the dialogue, after a while it will become obvious.

You can also boost this by drinking Elex potions, you should be crafting these as much as possible, I recommend finding the Origin base and buying yourself a crafting table and merchent, the merchent has an inexhaustible supply of natural elex, use this to craft Elex potions which not only increases your Cold level slightly but these potions give you extra attribute points or skill points. I also recommend getting to Animal Trophy 3 quickly, this gives you huge amounts of materials every kill which you can sell for more Natural Elex. Purchase Sunglasses ASAP, they reveal loot even through walls, these will spot you weapons and resources you would have missed and are essential.

There is a bug in the game, sometimes your cold level will say Purely Emotional, dont panic this is a bug, you will either be Logical, or mellow, go off the progress bar.

0 - purely emotional
1-10 - expressive
11-20 - irrational
21-30 - spontaneous
31-40 - intuitive
41-59 - neutral
60-68 - dispassionate,
70-78 - mellow,
80-88 - logical, warning the 89th text is bugged and states purely emotional
90-99 - ice cold
100+ - synthetic

WARNING Make sure you get the achievement for cold value of 10 before this. it is much easier to increase cold value than decrease it. There are 3 achievements related to the final mission. if you go into the final boss battle with a cold value that is too high, you wont be able to get all 3, I missed out on the achievements the Third Way and Pure Rebel. To get all 3 in one playthrough, you must reach the final boss with a low cold value, you will need 100 ELEX potions per 10 cold value, so if you go into final boss battle with 50 cold value you need 500 potions to get Cold to 100.. the first achievement

Your "cold" rating is determined by how you make choices during the game. Rational/logical choices are considered "cold" (aka more machine-like) and will increase your cold rating. Making emotional/reactionary choices (aka more human-like) will decrease the rating. I never actually saw a specific number in the menus, but you can see your current rating by name in your character screen. To properly get all three endings, make sure you choose human choices whenever possible during the story. See "Beast of Xacor" for more info on that.

NOTE: The Xbox Achievements app tracks the "Coldhearted" achievement but not the "Human" achievement. If you look at the percentage "Coldhearted" is at and multiply that by 90 (which is where it unlocks), you'll get your current Cold level. For instance, if the tracker is at 26% do 90x0.26 and you'll find your Cold rating is 23.4 at the moment. The tracker moves up and down with any choice you make, though I did find on some minor choices, it didn't move at all.

However, it does NOT move when consuming Elex potions despite your Cold increasing. This is nice for when you need to get all the skill tree achievements maxed out since it won't confuse the tracker, though it could mess you up if you think you're safe because the tracker isn't moving during normal play. Just make sure you don't drink too many potions. I explain a safe way to do that in the "Beacon of Faith" description.

The smartest way to get the trophy (to save time) is to consume 800-900 vials of Elex drink after getting the low cold ending and loading the save before the final boss. In this case, coldness will increase to maximum status, and the trophy will appear only after any dialogue where the answer option with increasing coldness is selected. The trophy will not fall out purely from drinking Elex.

This trophy can be obtained at the end of the game, almost together with the “Beast of Xakor” trophy.
You just need to save at the entrance to the Citadel BEFORE talking with Tarek.
During the next download, to get the bad ending, we eat 1000 raw Elex and in a conversation with Tarek, select the answer with “Coldness is enough”, after which we get the trophy.

From the lowest level of coldness (fully emotional) to the highest (synthetic) exactly 1000 units of raw elex are required. Also after this it is necessary to increase the coldness through dialogue. As soon as you can afford so much, it’s better to do it right away, so that later you don’t have to run around and look for dialogues in which you can raise the coldness.
